A real breath of fresh air after a week of traveling around Cuba — literally, the air conditioning was on! The hotel has a true luxury feel, with an amazing location and spectacular views from the terrace. Staff at reception were very friendly and accommodating. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, with a huge selection that made you want to fill up for later — and honestly, you probably should, as the other meals in the restaurant (we had half-board) were hit or miss (mostly a miss). Some dishes were so bad we couldn’t even touch them, makes you wonder on how someone can meas up instant noodles). Serving staff on the 6th floor (restaurant and pool area) were friendly, but limited English sometimes made communication tricky. We also noticed constant billing issues with drinks, something other guests seemed to experience as well. During the day, a lot of staff were around but often avoided interaction — perhaps because it was the beginning of the season and many young staff were new. The rooms themselves felt a little neglected, with some mould in the shower and sealing issues - water was tricking into the room. WiFi was unpredictable and often cut out, so a local SIM is strongly recommended. Overall, it was an okay stay — the hotel looks great and we enjoyed the views, but there were enough issues to temper the experience. That said, we were happy to get a deal on Black Friday.
