We arrived at Iberostar Park Havana at 2 PM, but check-in was scheduled for 4 PM. We had booked two rooms for our friends and ourselves. We had the option to pay about $30 for early check-in, which we did for our room so that everyone could leave their luggage there and go sightseeing.
The room was spacious, but when we entered, we were immediately hit by a strong smell of dampness. We went to the front desk and requested a room change, which was granted. The second room was slightly less damp, and the smell was less noticeable. We stayed there for the night, but the bed and bedding still felt damp, an unpleasant sensation that’s hard to describe.
The next day, after returning from the city, the room hadn’t been cleaned, and fresh towels were not provided. We asked again for a room change. The front desk staff gave us a key to a new room and told us to check ourselves for dampness, as they didn’t know which rooms were affected. This became our third room for a two-night stay. The bedding was no longer damp, and the room felt less humid, but there was another strange odor that I can’t describe.
On top of all this, there were bugs in the rooms at night.
As for the location, it is probably the best possible in Havana, right in the city center. Unfortunately, everything else about this hotel is a disaster. For picky travelers or anyone with a sensitive stomach, this hotel should be avoided. Honestly, I think I would have slept more comfortably outdoors in a park than in this hotel. Total catastrophe.
