Iberostar Selection Playa Mita

My husband and I had a fantastic and relaxing stay here in mid-December 2024. We stayed in the far building, facing the ocean and it was magical. Every day is so relaxing here we didn't want to leave. Truly a relaxing experience with some of the best service we've had anywhere. We travel a lot, and all over the world, and we thought the buffet restaurant at this resort was one of the best we've ever had. So much variety, everything is fresh. After eating at the other restaurants on property we felt the buffet had the best food overall so we just kept going back there. We made good use of the 24 hour coffee shop in the early mornings. Enjoyed beach walks, and walking the grounds. We hung out by the pool most days. Our room was very quiet and the bed SUPER comfortable. Rafael the concierge was excellent. We were looking for a 100% relaxing trip and this was it!

We are enjoying our stay and we are especially happy with the beach. There are many whale sightings during our stay. The staff that keeps the beach safe and clean are amazing. This the first resort we have been to that had life guards on the beach and they are excellent. Lucas and his co workers kept a close watch on the swimmers and we saw them help a young boy that was in difficulty as well as steer many others away from the strong currents. They even did some education regarding some of the sea creatures that washed up on shore. Lucas should be especially commended on how seriously he takes his job and how well he does it. Thank you

The staff were very accommodating! They have fun entertainment staff for water aerobics and pool activities. The disco at night was so much fun I was not expecting them to have that good of a dj. Although the hotel is a little dated the beach is beautiful and they are in a great location. You can see a lot of stars at night. The bartenders made great drinks but it definitely seemed like they were a little overworked sometimes especially those out by the swim up bar. Overall I think the property needs some updates and is a little overpriced coming from someone who has been to other great all inclusive resorts. The food was either really good or just mediocre. The best was at the Japanese restaurant and our chef Jimmy was very funny and made our night very memorable.

I had an incredible stay at Iberostar Selection Playa Mita and can’t recommend it enough! The resort is absolutely stunning, with beautiful grounds, well-maintained facilities, and breathtaking views - with a sunset you never want to miss. The food selection is vast and delicious, offering a wide range of options to suit all tastes—from fresh seafood to international cuisine. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always going above and beyond to ensure a memorable experience. The location is also perfect—secluded enough for relaxation but close enough to local attractions. I had an oceanfront room which was absolutely unreal. Considering I went on a solocation, I felt completely safe and well taken care of during my stay. If you’re looking for a top-notch all-inclusive experience, this is the place to be! It was my first all-inclusive experience, but won't be my last :)

My husband and I stayed at the Iberostar Play Mita for six nights for my birthday. I chose this resort after visiting the Iberostar property in Lagos, Portugal which was wonderful. I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, Thailand, and Portugal so I had reasonable expectations. This resort did not meet them. The resort property is absolutely stunning. There are many places to relax privately and publicly; there is no shortage of chairs, tables, couches, sunbeds etc. throughout the property. There are three themed restaurants, a snack bar/bakery, a pizza place in the sports bar, and two buffets. We tried all of these except the Japanese restaurant. The Mexican restaurant and the steak house were absolutely horrible. The food was cold and the appetizers on the menu were replaced with a lukewarm buffet. They actually served what tasted like Kraft macaroni and cheese at the steakhouse. We left both restaurants after taking a couple bites of the food. The food in the buffet was highly inconsistent; some days it was delicious and other days we went to bed hungry due to the poor food quality. On the last two days at the resort, we ate sandwiches for every meal from the snack bar/bakery. There are at least four bars. The drinks were good quality but a little sweet for our taste. The room was as expected. It had everything you would need, and we had no issues with it. Other than the food, we were most disappointed by the excessive offerings of “the presentation”. It was offered four times in our six nights. It felt like an ambush and was a nuisance during our vacation. Overall, I would not return to this property and do not recommend it. It is really disheartening to visit an all-inclusive resort and leave pounds lighter.

Amazing place! I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else while visiting Punta Mita. The service, cooks, location, and all the staff are incredible. Fernando runs the best activities in the resort! He makes archery so easy and fun to learn even my mom had a good time, he has a great upbeat energy. I definitely want to come here again.

Star Camp was amazing for our children! We have a 4 and 2 year old. The 4 year old loved the planned activities especially the treasure hunts. Our 2 year old loved coming during family time to play inside. The planned “parties” were also a hit and our kids loved. It was a great way to take a break from the sun and play inside. The staff was so amazing and fun with the kids. The Star Camp exceeded my expectations and I would love to come back!

Mayra at the lobby bar hands down had the best service around. She took the time to know myself and our family during our stay, along with our favourite items to order. This meant the world to us. She is an absolute gem to the resort, and made our experience so much more meaningful! We looked forward to seeing her every night, and are very sad to have to leave the resort and her top notch service.
