We went on a family trip from August 2 to 6, and the location was beautiful with delicious food. In addition to the buffet, the other restaurants were also quite good, and the grounds were well-maintained. What stood out the most were the staff members: Mayra, Elvia, and Pedro from the lobby bar, along with Cesar from the beach bar. They were genuinely friendly and accommodating, always checking in with us to ensure we had everything we needed. Housekeeping was excellent, and room service was good as well. I would definitely return and bring my kids, as the resort appears very kid-friendly and offers numerous activities for children. Thank you for making our vacation truly enjoyable!

We visited Iberostar for a family vacation with 8 people, and everything exceeded our expectations. The service was fantastic from start to finish. The food was incredible throughout our stay, with a special highlight being our night at the Mexican restaurant—both the dishes and the fresh macaroons prepared by Estefania were unforgettable. We had so much fun at the pools and enjoyed the entertainment, especially the bingo games. It was an amazing trip filled with great food, great service, and wonderful memories. We can’t wait to return!

I just wanted to reach out and tell you about two of your amazing staff members, Mayra at the Adelita Lobby Bar, and Jose at the pool bar. They both we above and beyond for me and my family of 8. Mayra was amazing with our kids, very attentive to us and our needs. She was always prompt and worked extremely hard keeping drinks on our table, as well as snacks. She was constantly keeping the lobby bar clean, as well as working behind the bar making drinks. Multiple people were amazed by her work ethic as the bartenders stood around talking to one another. Jose at the pool bar was also great. Very friendly and would immediately ask what he could get us. He would always check with each person sitting at the bar as well as those around to that their order. Not only was he attentive, but his drinks were great. They both deserve to get recognized. My kids looked forward to seeing them every day and honestly made our stay much better!

We absolutely love Iberostar. The buffets are delicious and well put together. The pool is huge with great views of the ocean. The ocean is perfect and so calm. The best part of this resort is their Star Camp. It is amazing!!!! The staff is so thoughtful and caring. Plus they make it so much fun. It is difficult to get my 4 year old to leave the camp. If you have a child this is the best resort and totally worth it.

The hotel was amazing and there was so much activity to do. We attend water activities like the magic carpet, water polo and water acrobatics. At night, there was Karaoke and rock live music. The food and services were splendid and well mannered. So many options to eat for everyone to enjoy. The beach was so clear and calm that even a non swimmer can enjoy the calm waves. I will totally recommend and we’ll be coming back.

If Mexico is calling - it may be this property! Spent a beautiful week in this location with my best friend. Here’s the things I think would be helpful for you to know., Rooms: comfy, clean, roomy. I have no downside. We upgraded to a room overlooking the ocean - totally worth it. Service - exceptional - we really had everything we needed. Food - delicious!!!! No complaints - it’s a buffet yes - the selection was ample and delicious. Fresh fruit variety and I didn’t have to cook it! Location - it’s a little hike from the airport and not convenient to shopping or “nite life” .. this is what we were looking for so it was great - but pretty expensive to cab to the city for excursions and to shop.

Our stay for our anniversary was one of the best. We enjoyed top level service everywhere in the resort. If you love to travel I encourage you to become a member. It is well worth your time and money. Playa Mita has so much there you don’t need to leave the resort. From the drinks, to the food, to the nightly shows. The prestige staff are so wonderful and try to make your stay an awesome one. From Jenny our members consult to Ana, Miguel and s Stephanie. They all made sure our stay was great. Even the bartenders Karen Pedro and Vincent treated us so well and made sure we had a good time. I hope I didn’t miss on names because so many made our trip the best. We plan to send as many people as we can to this location! They all deserve it! Thank you Iberostar family

We just got back from a 10-night stay with a group of four families with young kids (under 6). The experience was amazing through and through. The staff were helpful and kind, the resort was full of fun energy (but also felt calm), and the food was really excellent. We enjoyed yoga in the mornings, the rifle/archery range, billiards, hiking, beach time, drinks at the sunset bar, and many many hours in the pool. Everything was kept very clean, and we felt comfortable and safe. The kids loved the kids club activities, the food, and the family-friendly pool. We are not typical all-inclusive patrons, but came home from this holiday refreshed and energized. Would recommend to families especially, but also anyone who wants a great holiday in this part of Mexico. Thank you to everyone at Iberostar who made our holiday so joyful and easy.

Yelp
We enjoyed our time and the food during our stay. The fish tacos at the beach bar were amazing.

Yelp
To celebrate my wife's last year in her 30's, we booked a stay here at the Iberostar Playa Mita. Unlike our previous trips to resorts in Cabo and Cancun, we wanted a more relaxing less spring break-like vibe...and that's exactly what we experienced. Our transfer dropped us off at the entrance to the resort where we were greeted by an employee who led us to the check-in desk and informed us that our bags would be sent to our room. Initially, the employee behind the desk was proceeding to book us into a room on the first floor. My wife is not a fan of the noise that generally accompanies being on the first floor, so she mentioned this to the employee who swiftly booked us a room on the second floor. The resort itself is beautiful, very spacious and has tons of seating through out. Whether you want to be in the party area of the resort or prefer a secluded area where you can relax and read a good book, there are plenty of options. For breakfast and lunch we enjoyed the myriad of food options available at the buffet; fortunately, I scored some very delicious ribs at the lunch buffet on one of the days. Unfortunately, the quantity of food options did not equate to quality and was quite inconsistent on a day to day basis. We dined at both the Mexican restaurant and steakhouse, which were both underwhelming (not sure how Mexican food in Mexico can be bad). If none of these options float your boat, there is also an Italian restaurant and hibachi. Although the lackluster food quality made it easy not to overindulge; to ensure that we weren't unrecognizable after the trip, we consistently utilized the fitness center. There were machines, free weights, and cardio equipment available to get a comprehensive workout in. If you're into spa treatments, there is a spa next door where you can pay for massages and other services. The overall customer service experience was good. However, I have to call-out and give extra kudos to one particular employee....Mayra from the Adelita Lobby Bar (one of our favorite places on the resort to enjoy a drink). From day one Mayra was very attentive and did a great job of checking in with us without hovering. One specific moment stood out to both my wife and I. Mayra overheard that we were celebrating my wife's birthday. Next thing we know, Mayra emerged from the bar area with a cute sized piece of cake with a candle and a mini balloon with a "J" on it (my wife's name is Janee). Mayra went above and beyond the call of duty to not only do this, but also memorized both of our names (which is not easy considering that we do not have traditional names). As long as we have our memories intact, we will never forget the bond that we built with Mayra. Adrian (another employee that generally works at the Adelita Lobby bar), not only makes great drinks (you can see the attention to detail that he puts towards making a drink), but is also very personable. I love when individuals take pride in their work while simultaneously being professional. Our favorite bars on the resort, were the Adelita Lobby Bar, the Sunset Bar (literally the best spot to watch the beautiful sunsets), and the La Duna bar. I would strongly recommend avoiding the swim-up bar, which serves consistently bad drinks (very unfortunate considering how convenient it is). If you're looking for a place to truly relax (if that's your goal), I recommend visiting Iberostar Playa Mita. However, I'm giving the resort three stars because management is adament about pushing a "90 minute presentation" that we declined at least four times because it felt predatory and manipulative (maybe they thought we were too inebriated to realize this).

Yelp
I came here with my husband for a babymoon. Tip for any expecting couples with no kids - go to a all inclusive all adults resort. The food's way better! There's security at the gate when you go into the resort. They have an app that they recommend that you install when you are checking in (also sent via email). A drink served to welcome you. Walking in, the decor was beautiful - all open air with the garden area attended to by gardeners. When you arrive, after you check in, they talk to you about a presentation. There are some free perks that come with taking the time to listen to the presentation and possibly purchase a membership. It sounded enticing, but not as applicable to us as we were expecting. we wouldn't be able to take advantage of the membership as its for a set amount of time (and we're going to have a kid). Ensure to check you can actually do the free perks offered. Side note, their VIP rooms were really nice with a clear glass balcony instead of the bars. The food here was subpar, only selective places which had delicious bits. The most notable from memory: - Tsuba Asian restaurant was pretty decent as you got a show with food. But only if the people that your table were also vibing with the chef who was cooking. They were attentive to food allergies, at least during the time I went which I requested no soy. They cooked my meal separately from others which was nice though on the same platform that they've cooked meals. You will need to reserve the date and time at the restaurant at the front desk. - Room service - mostly bland. I remember the fish tacos were okay. - The steak place nearby the pool at night was pretty good. They had some sweet potato fries (uncertain what the name was) that was amazing! It was crispy fried and tasted good with the sauce it came with. It turns into a buffet in the morning-afternoon. - Breakfast buffet place closer to the entrance has an okay selection of AYCE. For all restaurant locations, you need to be seated in order to eat there. Service was a mix. At some places like Tsuba, you were asked if you had any allergies. At others, there wasn't any (which makes sense for the buffet places). Majority of the time, they were pretty attentive. It was disappointing that the fitness center was closed when we went. The only thing they had was an outdoor section with weights. And also they had renovations/something they were building next to where we were staying. My husband was disappointed that their ice cream machine broke nearby the pool during our stay. He was looking forward to having a ice cream each day while we were there. Overall, I will say this is pretty good for a all inclusive family resort stay. I may have just been pickier as the food wasn't what I had expected. There were activities for the kids, swim/water area dedicated for the kids, minichef, etc. It was nice right nearby the water and the sunsets were pretty to watch. Towels are provided, but you will have to ensure to either hold on to them/exchange them for the card/exchange them for new towels at the towel area. -Events or activities were a mixed bag. My husband had joined in for a public water volleyball which all ages could participate. Some of the games were fun, some were more one-sided. There was also beach volleyball, but the competition wasn't high. The only event I found interesting was a beading artisan workshop. It was beautiful to see beaded earrings and ornaments, and at the workshop, you can make your own small ornament either on a shell or as a little ball. -Got a pedicure done at the spa/wellness area. I do caution that after getting it done be careful how you walk/temperature as mines melted since we were there in July. I ended up going back next day, and they redid it free of charge.

Yelp
What a great place to stay! The food was good, Star Camp was great for the kids, and the resort was beautiful. We stayed over the Christmas holiday. Santa even showed up as well as the Grinch! lol It felt like a home away from home with all the Christmas cheer. Sunsets were amazing and the pool area was always a fun place to be. It seemed like there was activities going on for everyone and you could always find something OR nothing to do. The ONLY reason this is a 4 star review instead of 5 is because there were no hot tubs for non-member guests. It would have been nice to relax in some hot water after a long day of fishing. Thank you for an enjoyable holiday.

Yelp
Came here to stay during the fall to get hotter weather. It is a great hotel and the rooms are very clean. In fact, your room is cleaned once everyday. Many actives such as beach volleyball, pool, games, beach soccer, archery, shows, trivia, and bingo. The food is really good here as well. I would like to thank Jose, Marco Polo, Cindy, Charly (Carlos), and Zayn.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the Iberostar Play Mita for six nights for my birthday. I chose this resort after visiting the Iberostar property in Lagos, Portugal which was wonderful. I have stayed at many all-inclusive resorts in Mexico, the Caribbean, Thailand, and Portugal so I had reasonable expectations. This resort did not meet them. The resort property is absolutely stunning. There are many places to relax privately and publicly; there is no shortage of chairs, tables, couches, sunbeds etc. throughout the property. There are three themed restaurants, a snack bar/bakery, a pizza place in the sports bar, and two buffets. We tried all of these except the Japanese restaurant. The Mexican restaurant and the steak house were absolutely horrible. The food was cold and the appetizers on the menu were replaced with a lukewarm buffet. They actually served what tasted like Kraft macaroni and cheese at the steakhouse. We left both restaurants after taking a couple bites of the food. The food in the buffet was highly inconsistent; some days it was delicious and other days we went to bed hungry due to the poor food quality. On the last two days at the resort, we ate sandwiches for every meal from the snack bar/bakery. There are at least four bars. The drinks were good quality but a little sweet for our taste. The room was as expected. It had everything you would need, and we had no issues with it. Other than the food, we were most disappointed by the excessive offerings of "the presentation". It was offered four times in our six nights. It felt like an ambush and was a nuisance during our vacation. Overall, I would not return to this property and do not recommend it. It is really disheartening to visit an all-inclusive resort and leave pounds lighter.

Yelp
Juan Carlos is excellent! We received amazing service from him in the Members Prestige area. He provided top quality attention to our every need. I can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Updated: A better experience/dinner on night 2. Tsuba Japanese restaurant was excellent and redeeming. The service there was amazing, the staff is attentive, the chef was very accommodating and fun, and they brought my husband a cool birthday cake, and tequila and sing to him. That was a nice touch! Overall beer selection is very limiting. Drinks are better. Food at El Cuate Pancho was disappointing. The nachos do not meet the description and the shrimp fajitas are not fajitas at all. El Nopal breakfast was ok but busy and not for me. Same with Bahía. It is a large buffet but they put onions on almost everything and that's a problem for me, so it limits my options. Planning to try Pacific Express this evening. It's a cool vibe and hopefully the food is good. Rooms: A bit outdated, no floor rugs (mandatory at a beach- we used towels by the bedside) hard pillows, the shampoo/conditioner/lotion dispensers don't work, no creamer in room for coffee (and if you go to the coffee shop, only a small cup is avail to carry to your room, so it's cold and half spilled, and don't ask for a bag to carry your muffin in because they don't have one) Also, we paid to upgrade Oceanside and the chairs on the balcony are extremely uncomfortable. Only one level has a hammock, but not ours. They signed us up for their presentation but we may not attend, I doubt we will stay here again? It spring break time (keep in mind) and it's good for kids and families. The activities circle around that mostly. Once you've walked the grounds, there's not much else to see but the reception and restaurant area is very nice and breezy. I went to suggest having checkers or chess to make it more interesting to hang out? The lobby bar is nice and the bartender does make a good drink. Our upgraded room was right underneath the rooftop where a wedding was going on till midnight with tons of screaming and laughing and loud music and stomping. So that was awesome. But night two was better and we were able to sleep with the door open and enjoy the waves. The rooftop lounges pretty nice for watching the sunset and having a nightcap and was more enjoyable when less crowded. So overall, it's OK and I upgraded my review but it's not exactly the place I was looking for. I was looking for more quiet and romantic and more exploring on the grounds but it's OK for families and spring break.

Yelp
I stayed at this all inclusive resort for 4 days 3 nights and I had an amazing time. Staff where extremely professional, attentive, and informative. They all assistances you with any questions or concern. The food was delicious breakfast was my favorite every morning. We ate at the Italian restaurant no reservations require. Breath taking experience!! The steak house was the second restaurant we try on our second day. It was delicious the truffle mash potatoes is a must as a side. Our 3rd night we had hibachi. Reservations is required so please book as soon as possible. Amazing experience and staff interacted with his guests while preparing food. Phenomenal. Overall I had an amazing time. My friend with her 8 bridesmaids celebrated her bachelorette and it was fabulous!! Thank you so much to the amazing staff!!

Yelp
Sickness out of nowhere. After three days my wife and I became violently ill. We were in bed with gastrointestinal illness. Diarrhea, vomiting, dizzy, sweats for three days till the day we were supposed to go home. There was no medical help to be found at the resort. They did not want to hear about it. We moved to a different hotel and waited another day. We had to rebook our flights. I WILL NEVER STAY IN MEXICO AGAIN.

Lisa H.

Yelp
Nice place, clean, good food options. A little far from airport and other points of interest. Need laundry services. Beach has too many rocks but very pretty and close. Nice entry to beach from property.

Yelp
Service, customer service no one speaks English!! I have been to so many Iberostar resorts this is has been by far the most worst experience at this location!! No smoking at the pool ??? No buffet by the pool!!! We can't have blue tooth speakers by the pool??? So don't have a resort at all!!! If nothing is acceptable here Shut down your resort!!! I will never recommend this place to anyone!! And I'll make sure the word goes around!! #iberostar step up your game

Yelp
I gave it a one star because it is the lowest I can give. There is no way in the world this place should be shown as a 3 star resort/hotel much less a 5 star. When we arrived we were told we could not make dinner reservations for the nights of our stay that we would have to make them the next morning. When I arrived to make the reservations the next morning I was told there were no reservations available but for one night of our stay. We had two rooms with walkout access beach front. We settled for one with walkout beach access and one on the third floor. We tried to eat at the buffet but the food was well below standard even for a cheap buffet. Thankfully we had snacks we brought with us to make it along. The air in our room was not working. As I walked into the room I slipped and fell on the floor which was slick due to the humidity. The bed was wet due to the humidity in the room we had to well. The temperature was nearly 80 in our room. Then they have me up on the ladder checking the air temps. I'm not an A/C guy for the record. But apparently this guy wasn't either. We had two rooms with a party of 5 and the price we paid to visit this poor excuse of a resort was not even worth half of what was paid. How do you not have enough reservations at any of the restaurants to accommodate the amount of guest you have at at least one of the restaurants. The elevator would rarely work so you would have to use stairs. The pools closed at 8 when it was still left with plenty of daylight left. We will NOT return to any Iberostar resort and will make sure to share our experience with all that we know that they not make the same mistake.

Yelp
My family and I stayed for a few days and had a great time. This is a perfect place to enjoy with family of all ages. Great service and good food. The fish tacos and ceviche by the beach were excellent.

Yelp
This review is for the hibachi grill .. we came to eat with a family of 8 on a Thursday night .....let me say that so far this has been the highlight as far as food on this trip.. we arrived on monday, and will be here til Sunday .... The chef was exceptional in his performance with the twirling of eggs to the presentation as well as his attentiveness to all of the families he was cooking for ... food was perfect in taste and presented so well , not to mention portions , he served our main as well as a round of seconds for anyone who wanted more .... Was an awesome experience for all at the Table and I would highly recommend anyone who stays here to make your Reservation and eat at the hibachi grill .. And don't forget to tip the chef , he truly made the dinner rememberable

Yelp
The hotel did not meet my expectations. When we checked in they told us we had to make dinner reservations, so we attempted to and they told us that they were booked for the next three nights. We ended up arguing with them about that and they ended up allowing us to make reservations. Although this took about 30 minutes. Then there is the fact they keep trying to upgrade you, rooms, events, drink package. I would think about upgrading the drink package or premier package, because there drink and alcohol choices were below average, and only one beer on tap. I have been to multiple locations at all inclusive hotels and the food and drinks here were the worst I have had. The staff were all pleasant, and I thought the hotel grounds were decent. Seemed like a good family resort but not what I was looking for. They have a bar that over looks the ocean but is only open for a few hours in the evening, i didn't understand why it was not open during the day because it has a great view of the water. I would probably not stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
Beautiful property and great staff but the specialty restaurants are terrible. I used their app to find my way around but wait, there is no map. Please add a map and legend to your app.
google avatar

Jacqueline E.

Yelp
This resort was horrible. The food, specialty restaurants were horrible- no flavor or seasoning ( how does Mexico mess up mexican food), wet and sandy bed sheets, wet hotel floors, bathroom smelled of sewer and mold. The hotel manager Elena was not accommodating. Being moved to moldy room to moldy room. Professionalism of staff was horrible. Language barrier is not a reason for bad customer service.
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
If I can give no stars, I would... food poisoning, metal in my soup was not what I was my idea of fun... people were nice and the resort is situated in a nice area but the resort is run down, need food improvement like majorly in need and the events could use an upgrade!

Yelp
Took the kids to Star Camp. Was a wonderful experience. They were very friendly and the kids had a great time. Highly recommend them.

Yelp
Overall impressions: this particular Iberostar resort was likely the crown jewel of the area 25+ years ago when it was built, but the late 1990's this is no more, and the ENTIRE resort is sorely showing it's age. Cracks and wear in virtually everything, and dated decor abound. That said, it's still ran with a fairly tight hospitality/property management team and support staff. Housekeeping issues aside (see our washcloth adventure below), we had a nice stay. Food is... ok. Not remarkable. Buffet isn't the greatest, though my teenager loved it. Formal dinner reservations are hit and miss (we liked the Japanese and French; the Steakhouse was "meh"). If you're able, absolutely book an Oceanside room. All others pale in comparison. 8/14/22: they finally got our wash cloth issues settled on Day 4 of our 6 day stay. Better late than never - LOL! 8/12/22: came back to our room after a lunch and some time at the pool. Come to discover - ONCE AGAIN - housekeeping took our wash clothes and left us none. LMAO!!! Now I'm thinking they have a personal vendetta against us or something. Called Guest Services and asked for wash clothes. She asked how many people are in the room (I answered "three"). Let's see if they actually bring us 3 wash clothes this time or if we'll be sharing 1 again. Update: almost an hour later, and no wash clothes. Gentleman came to the door and said that they're under the counter (they're not), and when I pointed that out - he seemed confused. As he left, I stressed that I needed them NOW, as we have a family of 3 we need to get showered before evening activities. Still waiting... House keeping - 8/11/22: waiting an hour for room service to deliver missing wash clothes and refill our body soap so we can make our dinner reservations (which you are charged a fee for if you miss them). I've called twice and no one comes. Why the daily housekeeping doesn't leave wash clothes or check soap is a mystery. Walked down to the office (which takes 7-8 minutes), and they said they'd have it delivered immediately. The housekeeping service arrived at our room when I did... and brought *NO* body wash, 1 wash cloth, and a bunch of towels. WTF 8/11/22: took the early morning hike to Monkey Paw "Mountain". Fernando (guide) was just a delight, though be warned: this is a high level vigorous hike at sometimes 45 degree angle climbs, and takes almost 2 hours - ONE WAY. It's grueling. Bring plenty of water (I ran out, my wife didn't), and a power bar or some snacks. I burned about 2000 calories on this hike. It's truly grueling. Views are nice. Someone in the hiking party had a Bluetooth speaker and kept playing pop songs - sort of ruined the nature moment. Not sure why they allow guests to blare music when the majority of the hiking party wanted to listen to the jungle and be surrounded by nature. Oh well... tipped Fernando 200 pesos for his excellent guide work. Wished I had more to give but left my money in the safe. Suggest you tip at least $10 USD, but I would have been more comfortable tipping $20 USD. YMMV... overall a nice hike, but grueling, unbearably hot/humid. Do not believe them when they say it's a 45 minute hike one way. That's wrong. More like 2 hours. 8/10/22: Japanese themed restaurant review: Just a fantastic experience - the staff was just lovely and the food excellent! XOXOXI. Yaret was just brilliant - she created a wonderful experience at the Japanese-themed restaurant. Alejandro was excellent at tending to drinks. It was just a lovely (and fun!) experience!

Yelp
Restaurant services are exceptional, and bars and many others are good. However, seem like the front desk staff manager and consigliere don't care about customers. When they mistakes by the staffs/consigliere for booking our room & dinners, and they don't care after mistakes they made. Also one room (out of four) have a sewer pipe backup into the room in the middle of the night. They asked us to wait for next morning, but took until evening to exchange our room. For us, we'll never want to come back to this location.

Yelp
This review is from my trip on 07/2019, so it's over 1 year ago. They really do deserve a review :) This was our first time at this resort, after doing some research I found this place to have all the accommodations we were looking for. We stayed here for 1 week and we enjoyed every minute of it. I think our favorite hang out spot was the swim up bar. We booked a two room suite. All staff were friendly and we were always treated great. The resort is fairly big, but you won't get lost. lol Their private beach is amazing, I don't think I have ever been to such a beautiful and clean beach like Playa Mita. I highly recommend this resort if you are looking to stay further away from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.

Tiffany M.

Yelp
poor service, staff are paid to upsell and if you don't buy they are rude and mutter insults in Spanish thinking you can't understand them. Very poorly organized from check in to check out, slow and inefficient. Middle Ages guests will knock over your 5 year old to get to the food. We will never be back.

Brian A.

Yelp
We stayed for a week for my sons wedding. The service was excellent. The staff we all extremely helpful. A special shout out to Alexa(consierge). Went out of her waytoget us anything we needed. Also, to the waiter Nacho. The hardest working waiter I've ever seen. He worked the breakfast buffet, was the waiter at my sons wedding and was back for the morning. Always happy and accomodating. Only reccomendation I would make is to grab one of the maps on checkout the grounds because the signage and directions around the grounds are not well marked to find anything.

Yelp
We booked a 5-night stay at an ocean-front suite upon recommendation from a friend. Price was very reasonable (nice surprise) for an all-inclusive stay. We arrived around 10am on a Friday and the resort was quiet. We learned later that busy season starts the Monday after our arrival (we had the resort practically all to ourselves the first 2 days which was nice). The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming. We had a quick breakfast at the buffet and our suite was ready when we returned to the front desk. Lolita at the Guest Services desk walked us through the restaurants and activities. Felipe at the tour desk who assisted us with our airport transfers was on-hand to help us plan our tours. The resort is a bit dated especially the rooms. However, I have to commend the staff who clean and maintain the grounds. The resort is clean and always smelled good (they have automatic scent sprayers throughout). Being an all-inclusive resort, there's almost an expectation that food will not be that great. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't great. The buffet is open for breakfast and dinner. Good variety and options, but food was bland and cold. The themed restaurants offer a very small menu so don't set your standards too high. The location is about an hour drive from Puerto Vallarta. If you like the hustle of the city and being close to the bars and shopping, this may not be the resort for you. If you like being away from all that, you will like this resort. The staff made this trip a truly memorable one. From the minute we arrived to the day we left, we were treated special (I'm sure everyone felt the same way) - staff were friendly, accommodating and always eager to help. Special thanks to Felipe (tour manager); Rosa from Guest Services and Adrian (restaurant manager). Note: Please tip the staff even for small requests. Almost all of them live an hour away and have to commute to work. When you do, they remember you and go above and beyond.

Yelp
Even if they offered a week's stay at 1/2 price, we wouldn't go back!!!!! The only thin positive was the staff....without exception, they were all GREAT! That is the ONLY reason I give 2 stars. Staff deserves 5 stars! The place is about an hour ride from Puerto Vallarta, so if you want a trip to old town, it'll cost you at the least $50. The food was way inferior to other resorts where we've stayed. Iberostar should send "secret stayers" to evaluate! They would find the quality horrible compared to their other resorts! If you've stayed at an Iberostar resort, do NOT expect the same quality as this one has. The bath room is so small that if you are sitting on the toilet, the door is in your lap and another person would need to stand in the shower to be in there as well. The toilet paper holder is behind you making it difficult to grab paper. If you have trouble walking STAY AWAY!!!! We tried 4 wheel chairs before getting one with hard rubber wheels. The first 3 had air inflated wheels with rotting rubber so the wheels would not remain inflated. Their solution was to use a hand pump on the tires. That help up for about 30 minutes before the tires were going flat again. VERY hard to push. The property is sprawled out so not easy to get from your room to a meal or the pools. The beach is a joke. Stay at the pools if you want water time.

Yelp
This hotel is nowhere near a five-star resort. I wouldn't listed as a three star. The front desk gentleman was great then it went downhill from there. The food was not good, especially their so-called steakhouse. I wouldn't feed the food to my dog after two days of being there we decided to leave and go to a different resort, which we are so happy we made that decision, the room was so bad the ceiling was completely black spotted which we don't know what it was and they wouldn't change the room. The soap and shampoo are locked up in a device where you can barely get any of it out. You have to get water from a outside machine. If you want to have a nice vacation, I would beg you not to go to this hotel ever.

Yelp
Iberostar Hotel in Playa Mita is a huge gated All-inclusive resort that offers a good amount of amenities, entertainment, restaurants. They really try to match up with the W and the Four seasons, as you are checking in you get offered a refreshing beverage. They give you a tour of the resort and show you to your room. All of the rooms have a great view, Punta Mita is just beautiful! They have a huge pool that has an infinity feel to it that leads to a second level pool. They are very accommodating to kids as well. My four year old enjoyed the kids club and the kids mini water park with full on slides and water falls. I even got on and enjoyed ityself. The restaurants that they offer are Mexican, Japanese, Steak House and the Buffet. Everything is included amd I'm talking about Alcoholic drinks too. The staff is very Friendly and always up to help out. They do want to show you packages for future trips (TIMESHARES) but they are not overwhelming with that like other resorts. Can't wait to be back!

Yelp
First timers to this resort chain. Went with family, 2 kids (13 & 15) and me & my husband. Super impressed with how clean it was. Constant smiles from the staff. More surprising was how quick they were to respond to any requests...extra towels to room service . Don't be alarmed by how big the resort is, everything is centrally locates despite the massive layout. As for upgrade to suite on ocean! Made a huge difference to pool and lunch buffet. Speaking of food... can only make 2 restarant reservations @ a time. Highly recommend Japanese. Mexican wasn't worth the wait. Buffet had a HUGE variety of yummy food. My kids were super stoked! Esteban by palapa pool bar is the MAN. Tip him early. He works his ASS off Shows are amazing. Singer who did Celine Dion blew my mind Onto entertainment, some of the guys are funny AF. Like the guy who does pool aerobics. Some look less enthusiastic for sure. To wrap up my review, because I could go on & on. Definitely book it. Wouldn't advise high season It was super humid. Bring a neck towel if can't deal with constant feeling on sitting in oven I suggest mid Nov to Mid December for best and weather. Viva la Mexico Punta De Mita

Yelp
This place was ok. I've been to another Iberostar in Cancun and this location didn't seem to be a polished as that other one. They seemed to struggle with the details of the resort experience. The food wasn't that great either, which was disappointing because you have many choices of restaurants and buffet to choose from. Our previous experience with Iberostar was the great entertainment staff, the Star Friends. This location did not have those motivating individuals. Everything seemed pretty quiet and not very motivating. The pool area activities only had a localized sound system so you could never really hear what was going on unless you were right in front of one of the small speakers, even if you were in the pool. Our room was supposed to have an ocean view, but we were overlooking the center garden area with a long stretch to see the ocean. I probably would not make a second trip to this resort.

Yelp
I wish I could give and one for this hotel. I reserved it and brought my three daughters there for a Mexican vacation. Shortly after entering the room I found a baggie containing remnants of a white powder substance in a drawer. The room was filthy, and had not been properly cleaned. The sheets and blankets were stained with God knows and they were rough as sandpaper. The food was absolutely disgusting, when we ordered From room Service after arriving from a long trip we found food that has obviously been made perhaps the day before or even a day before that wrapped in tinfoil with a couple of potato chips thrown down on a plate. When I called anyone the front desk maintenance room service it was impossible to get anyone to answer to address any of these problems. Fearing for what we would experience in the next eight days we ended up leaving after approximately two hours of being in this hell hole. I had reserved and pre-paid for eight nights. Expedia and the hotel both refuse to refund ANY of the almost $4000 I paid for a four-star all inclusive vacation. Stay away from this place it is dangerous and they will not take care of you if there's a problem.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I recently did a 5 night stay at this resort. We had previously stayed at the Iberostar in Cancun and loved it so we figured why not stick with the same brand and give Punta Mita a try. I'll try to sum things up into my main overviews. The pool was pretty nice - warm temp, swim up bar, overlooking the ocean. The room was good - comfortable bed, lots of space, small safe for valuables, great shower head, turn down service twice a day. The food was decent. As with any all inclusive resort the food and drinks are all included but the quality is usually not as good as eating/drinking off the resort. We really enjoyed the food at the Steakhouse, Mexican, and Japanese restaurants, but those are only available for dinner and by reservation only. The 24 hour room service is convenient, but the flavor isn't too great. It's still awesome for drunken 2 am cheese fingers and fries though! I highly recommend taking advantage of the 24 hour cafe, the coffee and drinks were great! The entertainment was also decent - lots of daytime things going on like bingo, yoga, pilates, etc. The shows happen every night at 9:30 pm as well ranging from pop to rock to Broadway. They were a little corny, but fun. The nightclub is open from about 11 pm - 3 am and definitely can get pretty entertaining for people watching. The only two really downsides from us were the amount of kids/families and how secluded the resort was. It was about a 45 min drive from the airport and there really was nothing else around it so we didn't end up leaving the area at all. We're also a couple with no children so being surround by families and small kids wasn't that ideal for us. Meh, you live and learn. Overall it was still a good trip for us. I recommend downloading the Iberostar app during your stay since you're able to order room service, request restaurant reservations and view the daily activities schedule from there.

Yelp
We stayed at the Iberostar for a week. Our stay was fantastic. You can do as much or little as you like...there are plenty of activities of that's your thing. The pool area is decent. I do agree with other reviewers there should be a separate area for kids, especially far away from the pool bar. The beach area is fantastic. The sunsets from the rooftop patio bar are second to none! The food exceeded my expectations. The buffets and the speciality restaurants were are way better than I anticipated. My room was comfortable enough for the amount of time I spent in it (which wasn't much). I would have liked to have had a bit more comfortable/luxurious mattress and pillows....my advice is to skip the room "upgrades". Use your extra cash to go on an excursion with Tesh/Dressel Divers. All of the staff are super nice and friendly. Many remember you by name which is a nice touch! One day I was lounging in a chair in the shade near the pool. There was a boy a few chairs down from me sitting by himself. Antonio was walking by and noticed the boy sitting by himself. He introduced himself and talked about the boy's vacation and things he liked to do. It really seems to cheer the boy up (a "cool kid" like Antonio took the time to say hello and make brief conversation). That one example is indicative of my experience during my week at the Iberostar. I would definitely come back. The only "negative" I have is the supposed "resort credits". It's a complete joke/scam. The credit is broken up into these little parts (eg $25 off a $300 massage - or something like that). It's a joke and should not in any way factor into your decision to stay at Iberostar.

Yelp
In this time of global stillness, I'm thinking back and looking forward to travel. I'm going to try to stop whining like a priviledged sissy, and just start shedding some loving light on some places to visit once the world reopens... like this Iberostar! This past Christmas my family and my best buds rented a home in Sayulita. Between the six hour flight and hour and a half drive to our rental, we decided to find a fancy resort to kick off our holiday for a few nights. Playa Mita is about halfway between The PV airport and Sayulita, so it was the perfect choice. High end, but not too pricy. All inclusive but not too crazy. We were really pleased with our choice! My two big tips for this resort are: +Book whatever room you can afford and ask about upgrades upon checking in, if it's not too busy the price to upgrade in person is way cheaper. We got a large ocean front suite for an extra $50/night. Not bad! +The best food on the resort is the beach taco stand at the far left end of the beach if you're facing the water. Fresh ceviche and baja fish tacos to die for!

Yelp
We recently stayed at this hotel from June 11-18, 2019. We traveled with a 40+ female, 2 couples, a two yr old, a six yr old, and 16 yr old. It was something to do for everyone! Pros: At the beach there is a guy that will place umbrellas for you to help with shade. - The water is warm. - The upgrade to get a room near the beach was worth it. - They have an entertainment show every night. - Their Kids club is great! Shout out to Edith, Karla and Dane! They kept up with my daughter and also kept her engaged. - The specialty restaurant - all of them were pretty good. Mexican restaurant had some tasty hot chocolate. - They have lots of activities at the pool. - On some nights they have theme music in the lobby. Make sure to attend. They sometimes make food and always offer signature drinks. Cons - Be prepared for lots of walking, - The rooftop bar closes at 11a. - They do have a 24 hr bar in the lobby that helps. - They don't keep much change in US money at the front desk. But ask the bellhop for change or other guests. Everyone was pretty nice. - The free city tour to downtown PV from the hotel is not worth it. Trust me! Tips: Make friends with some of the staff. If you tip them well they will take care of you! Shoutout to Karla at the rooftop bar and Gabrielle in the Buffett area and speciality restaurants!! These ladies rock. And don't be afraid to ask the bellhop for a ride if you are staying at the rooms in the beach. Tip him well for his time!

Yelp
Not sure where to start? We were returning guests. Upon arrival we were being told that it was impossible to get dinner reservations because large groups were booking. The restaurants were one of the main reasons for returning. We were told we could eat at the buffet ever night instead. Lol Now, let's fast forward to the buffet...concierge worker has a fit at us and refuses to seat us without a mask, and insisted we buy one if we expected to eat there. Okay, we paid yet another frivolous fee, proceeded to seat, only to see numerous maskless people enjoying the buffet. I have loads of pictures to support this. Unbelievable. If you're going to be mask righteous, "live by the sword, die by the sword"...but don't nickel and dine guests over this, seriously. Next, upgraded room upon arrival...cleanliness could sure use an improvement, but to be expected during "Covid" employee shortage?? Then why do I have to pay more for less? Lastly, the one night we were finally able to get a dinner reservation (Asian) we went....but we also took advantage of hitting another restaurant as one of the really kind waiters at the buffet said he could personally get us in the steakhouse without a reservation. Great! Not so great is we both ended up with Matazumas Revenge and lost a full day and a half being sick. So upon check out we tell the manager about the petty mask charge and being sick, and in little words, basically said prove it and why didn't we call and tell them sooner. Seriously? And yes, we did tell the concierge when we told them we could not make our timeshare appointment Why would we make up being sick? Honestly, I get stuff happens...but had we not been held hostage at checkout over the petty mask charge, we may have let this go. Point being, you really need to listen to listen to your Customers and accept the fact that what you advertise is not the experience that all guests are having. Needless to say...we won't be returning.

Yelp
I really don't know how this place is considered a 5 star resort. By far the worst service and food I've ever experienced. Let's start off with the rooms, most outdated rooms I've ever seen, mold everywhere, stains, dead bugs, just dirty. The rooms with the ocean view are way worse too, when you'd expect it to be better. The food is horrible. I mean, that should be given with an all inclusive resort, but it just wasn't edible. Lastly, the staff, so rude. You would expect them to give better service, but nope. Highly recommended staying away from this hotel.

Yelp
My fiancé and I visited the Iberostar Playa Mita in Mexico from April 26th 2018-April 30th 2018 to check it out as a possible wedding venue next year. We loved everything about Playa Mita! We have already secured our wedding date and are super excited to host it at this resort. I went with a BINDER full of questions and they answered them all and I took a TON of pictures. So here we go! Travel to/from resort: As you leave the airport look for the guys in the ACTUAL blue Hawaiian short sleeved shirts. My fiancé mistook a light blue shirt of a guy still inside the airport and we spent a few minutes there being sales-pitched to. To get to the Apple Vacations included transportation to the resort you have to COMPLETELY exit the resort and look for the Apple Vacations sign that one of the Hawaiian shirt guys are holding. They are super nice, offer to get you a beer or cold drink right away, and we waited no more than a few minutes before we were off to the Iberostar! Resort itself: GORGEOUS! PRISTINE! Great staff with happy attitudes and wonderful smiles. The grounds are constantly being tended, the pool are pristine, no clutter/litter from left over guests at the pool chairs or on the beach. The resort is organized well with most of the restaurants and amenities located in the front of the resort and the pools and beach near the back. It is a 452 room resort so there is some walking involved but it's a gorgeous walk no matter where you go. If you're a person who whines about walking, Id suggested picking a smaller more boutiquey resort. Rooms: I wanted to upgrade to an ocean-front (not just ocean-view) room upon check-in but unfortunately there were none available. The ocean-front rooms face directly to the Pacific Ocean and are about $40 extra per night. I think its WAY worth it but if you don't simply say no thank you upon check-in. Amenities in the room were standard. Big beds, comfortable, pull-out couch, table, chair, etc. The hair dryer is a bit soft for all my hair. If you have a lot of hair and need a strong dryer, Id say bring your own. The maid-service was incredible! 2 times a day they cleaned up after us. I almost started to feel guilty, lol. Always with the cute towel animals and little touches here and there. Food: We loved the Mexican specialty restaurant for its ceviche bar, the French restaurant for its privacy and AC, the Japanese/teppanyaki restaurant for the entertainment, and the steakhouse for JUAN-CARLOS who kept the wine coming even though we had a 4 hour dinner. There are 2 buffets for breakfast and lunch. They are kept cleaned, stocked and varied. Lots of different options for picky eaters, allergies, etc. We loved getting made to order omelets every day and having the option to go to the inside buffet for lunch which had AC. Pools: Clean, fun, and never too crowded. We never had a problem finding chairs near the pool, even if we woke up at noon. There's a big main pool, that has an infinity ledge that drops into another pool a little shallower. There's an activities pool for water volleyball, basketball, etc. I like this because people aren't playing active games near the people who are trying to relax and drink. There is also a kid's splash area, with a lifeguard, that has one way in/out. Bars/drinks: The swim-up pool bar gets a little crowded but that's where the action is. The service is fast so you don't wait more than a minute or two for drinks. I strongly recommend bringing your own reusable cup/thermos container. This resort WILL NOT give you a straw. They do not have straws on property. So, if you need a straw, bring a reusable one from home. For liquors they carry the usual: Jameson, Smirnoff, Captain Morgan, Bacardi, Hornitos, Don Julio Rep, Beefeater, etc. House wines are "vino blanco" or "vino rojo" but they're good! There are more expensive wines available for additional purchase. Beer: seems to be Mexican cervesas on tap at the bars/restaurants and bottles in your room. Activities: A nightly show that is amazing and different each night. While we were there they had a mechanical bull riding competition near the main pool, a kayaking and run-along-a-floating-mat competitions in the pool. There were water aerobics, salsa classes and yoga groups every day. This resort definitely has plenty of options if you are a person who likes to DO STUFF on vacation instead of just relax. Overall I would say it is definitely a 4 star resort and we are excited to host our wedding there next year!

Yelp
This place is beyond bad. How do you cancel someone's reservation who booked in January, a week before our trip? They offer to reschedule free of charge but what about my vacation days, my flight my transportation to the hotel? They don't care that they ruined our vacation. They sent me an email saying that they will be closed for an "exclusive group" and that was the reason our booking was canceled. We had our hopes so high and were counting down the days for our vacation. Now we have to find another hotel. They say things happen for a reason so good luck if you book here.

Yelp
This is the best resort I have ever been too. I don't even know where to start. First, the staff is super helpful and nice. Almost all of them speak English, even if they don't it's still pretty easy to communicate with them. The rooms are super clean and comfortable. The bathrooms are also very clean. All the rooms have balconies that over look either the garden, the beach, or the pool. Iberostar has many, many fun activities to participate in. For example, darts, water aerobics, bingo, beach volleyball, and archery. At night, they include shows in the theater like circus, dancing, and singing as well as a bar/mixology show. During the day there is also a place called Starcamp, where kids from 4-11 can go and the staff will watch your kids for you, and take them to fun activities. The food is delicious, they have two buffets, one for breakfast and dinner near the rooms, and one for lunch, near the pool. They always have a ton of options for everyone including vegetarian, vegan, Gluten free, and dairy free options. All the food is delicious, especially the dessert! As well as the buffets, there are 4 other restaurants (French, Mexican, Japanese, and a steakhouse), however you have to make reservations at them. In the hotel they have four pools: one pool for water sports (water polo, volleyball, and basketball), one for kids with water slides, and two normal swimming pools. The largest pool has a swim up bar where you can get both alcoholic and virgin drinks (both are delicious), food, and ice cream from a soft serve machine. The beach is also right down a ramp and you can rent boogie boards and surfboards for the day. There is a little overlook where there is another bar, a few swings, a large deck space, and a beautiful view of the beach, a perfect place to watch the sunset! Finally, the price is really reasonable, especially for an all inclusive resort. My only flaw in this place is that the hongs they sell there (like sunscreen, aloe Vera, goggles, pool toys) are pretty expensive, however, that makes sense because resorts are usually like this. Overall, I highly recommend this resort, it's a wonderful place to spend your vacation in any season.

Yelp
My wife and I had booked this place to see if the Iberostar chain had consistency among their resorts. We had stayed at their Riviera Maya Playa Lindo property 2 years ago and loved it. Compared to the other resort which was huge because there are 5 resorts on 1 property, this is one stand alone resort. There is less walking then the other resort which is a positive. The layout was easy to navigate. The beach is short from the wall to the water, especially when the tide is in. There are no shells on the beach, just different colored and sized ocean rocks. My wife collected some that were really cool colored. Do not be upset if you book an Ocean View room and you cant see the beach, it doesn't say beach view it says ocean view. The only beach view rooms are the beachfront rooms, mainly because of the aforementioned short beach. The beachfront building is parallel with the beach and sits below the ground level of the other buildings which are positioned opposite on a slight angle so that there is an ocean view from the upper floors, looking overtop of the beachfront building. The service was really good. Check-in was slightly disappointing, we arrived at 4 and we were told our room was not ready. They told us to go eat and it would be ready when we were done. It was, however we were so tired from our travels we just wanted to go to our room. After giving us the keys they wanted to talk to us about the resort. I needed to get very firm with them until they finally understood that we were not discussing anything with anyone until after we were able to settle in. We had been up since 2 am East Coast time to get to the airport. When we got to our room we crashed, unfortunately we missed the Mexican Fiesta they had on Monday nights. Now for the Food: Please do not expect 5 star food...this is not Secrets! There was always something at the buffets to eat, even for the picky eaters. But you're on vacation, step out a little and try something different...you might like it. I actually brought my own seasoning with me because the at the other resort I thought some of the food items were a little bland. I didn't even unpack it on this trip. No its not like momma makes, but the food was good. If you don't like something find something else you like. This resort offers 2 breakfast buffets (most people don't know there is one that doubles as the evening Mexican restaurant. So if you want a more quiet atmosphere for breakfast, go there. They also offer 2 lunch buffets, one in the main buffet and one that is pool side that doubles as the Steakhouse at night. There are 4 reservation only restaurants. Mexican, Gourmet, Japanese and a Steak House. We had 3 dinners, 2 at the Japanese and 1 at the Steak house. Both were really good. The Steakhouse offers a little known steak called the Hanger Steak. It is a rare steak to find in the U.S., but it is as tender as a Filet. The Japanese is a group table setting where they make the food in front of you on 2 grills. This one offered Octopus as a protein along with Steak, Chicken and Shrimp. The latter 2 were really good, especially the Shrimp. There is 1 pool bar,( half in the water and half out of the water) so at times it can get busy, but the bartenders were on top of things and kept everything moving smoothly. I hope I spell this right... Rodgelio is the best bartender! There were slow times at the bar where he would see me coming from across the pool, and by the time I got to the bar, my refills were waiting on the bar for me! There are plenty of poolside activities to keep people busy. There is a kids area on the opposite side of the pool from the bar. They have a special lunch that they make daily poolside. They served Tacos, Ribs and Chicken, and Seafood Pallela, on different days, rotating each of them throughout the week. There is also a small lunch café and bar at the end of the beachfront building on the lower level. They serve Hamburgers, French Fries and Nachos there with a toppings bar on the corner by the grill. They do have a coffee shop café in a side hallway off the main lobby near the front desk. You can get deserts and small sandwiches along with a list of hot and iced coffee drinks and teas. They do have nightly entertainment that has a different feature every night. The music entertainment is slightly dated but at least its better then sitting in your room watching TV. After the show is over they open the Disco next door that stays open till 3. The best part of these 2 places compared to the Riviera Maya Resort is, they are under the main lobby building away from the guest rooms in enclosed rooms, not open air theaters. The music will not disrupt your relaxation in your room. Make sure to check with your concierge about the day trips run by the hotel to the local area, they are cheap. We have already started to plan our return with the family next year!!

Yelp
This is a beautiful and newer resort, I think built in 2014. I love the open air lobby and reception area, if I become a millionaire, I woul design a portion of my mansion with that concept. There is a huge outdoor garden in the middle and it's just spectacular and enjoyable to me. STAFF Majority of the staff is friendly, helpful and hardworking. The ones that stood out were Marin at concierge, waiter Omar and Cade of the front desk. We will never forget the hotel doctor Dr. Torres and his male nurse who were so kind, knowledgeable and just heaven-sent to us when my son was sick. Thanks to them, we were able to enjoy our vacation. CLEANLINESS The hotel properties, facilities and room are very clean, everywhere, somebody is cleaning something. I love that someone cleans the bathroom by the pool every 10 minutes (no kidding!). Other hotels should take note. F&B I find a lot of the food overly salty esp. this grilled white fish at the steakhouse during lunch. They also have the same food over and over at the steakhouse at lunch. When we checked in at 3pm and asked for the specialty resto, we were told that they're fully booked. I liked how they have a buffet for the appetizers and desserts at the specialty restos and the only thing that needs to be ordered are the main entrees. There is a coffeehouse that serves great tasting coffee but the there is one particular girl who is always grumpy. The most unforgettable food for me is the guacamole! My husband said the crepes that he slathers with nutella is his fave. thank

Yelp
Just been here for a week. Staff and facilities are very good. Breakfast and lunch are good . Dinner is a disaster at all restaurants. If you are a vegetarian, your main entree is 6 French fries and 6 pieces of carrots, zucchini and cucumber. When I questioned the chef he said it was gourmet. Lot of the meat is overcooked and rough. Seafood is minimal. Don't expect good quality of food. Most of the buffet and poolside food is good . Adrian the bartender by the pool is amazing. Staff is excellent and hard workers to please their customers. I wouldn't sign up with this company for future travel. Cutting corners with dinners is poor . I did not have a decent dinner in all the 6 days we spent here .

Yelp
We just returned from a 19 night vacation at Iberostar Playa Mita. We thought it might be a bit too long of a trip but we got into a very relaxing routine. Check-in was easy and quick (Cande, Loris and Frank are friendly and helpful). We arranged round-trip transportation to the hotel with Felipe. There was a driver waiting for us at the airport and we paid once we got to the hotel. If you can spring for an ocean front Junior suite, do so. The view of the ocean at all times of day and night is stunning. The room was thoroughly cleaned each day and the mini fridge and snacks were replenished daily. There are beach/pool towels in these rooms so you don't have to bother with towel cards. Nacho the towel man will cheerfully change your towels for you. Also throughout the day, staff will come around and ask if you want fresh towels. The coffee ladies at the coffee shop quickly got to know our coffee Preferences - excellent coffee and service. The activities/entertainment staff will keep you as busy as you want to be: yoga, Pilates, dance lessons, water exercise, water polo, beach volleyball, etc. Victor is a great instructor! We got to know some of the activities staff and they are a wonderful group of friendly and warm young people. Many thanks to Marcelo, Johnny, Alex, Christian, Nancy, Fatima and Marco. Gloria provides a fun opportunity to create a craft souvenir. Many of the young activities staff also perform in the nightly entertainment where they show their varied talents. The shows were great and the costumes and make up were excellent! We really enjoyed the shows that we saw but because they started at 9:30 PM we only made it to a couple. The Mexican party in the lobby is lots of fun and the mariachi band is great! They put on a fantastic Super Bowl party in the disco; what a spread of party food and a beautifully decorated tres leches cake! The spot is adequate and clean and I had a good massage there. The gym is small but is equipped with everything you need for a work out. The golf course is challenging and is in good shape with beautiful views of the ocean. The bell man will shuttle you to the course in just a few minutes. While the pool area is fun, be sure to spend some time at the beautiful beach. Jose sets up all the chairs and umbrellas and works hard each day to set up and take down everything at the end of the day as the tide comes into close to leave everything on the beach. Restaurants and food: first of all, they should have more openings at the specialty restaurants. You can book on the Iberostar App or talk to the concierge to book reservations. Be aware that the timeshare sales people, who are not as aggressive as other places we have been, sit near the concierge desk. The El Nopal Buffet has excellent food. Each night there is a theme and the offerings are tasty and interesting. There is something for every taste with lots of healthy and fresh options. There are always made to order choices like omelettes, pasta, stir fry and tacos. Thanks to Gisi (am) and Ramon (pm) for your excellent and friendly service. Many thanks to Gabrielle who is the hostess at the buffet and is always there to greet you with a smile! The pool restaurant, which turns into the Bahia steakhouse at night, is a great place to have lunch - you can sit inside or outside. Every day at the pool area, near the kids club, chef Panchito will be cooking up something tasty for lunch. Be sure to have his paella loaded with seafood and the pork tacos are excellent too! We preferred a couple of the specialty restaurants over others but we talked to people who had very different preferences So make sure you try all four to decide for yourself. While the buffets are great, it is nice to be served sometimes and not have to hop up and down to get your food. The Japanese restaurant was entertaining but the food was one note, overcooked and over salty. The Pacific Express was beautiful inside, and the service was good but we did not receive the quality of food that we expected. We loved the Mexican restaurant El Cuate Pancho. Excellent flavors, service and presentation. We also really liked the Bahia steakhouse. We talked to some people who didn't like the steak. Mexican beef is not like marbled American beef. The sticks tend to be thinner and a bit tougher as it is grass fed beef. We don't mind the chewiness of the meat; it was very flavourful and well prepared. Thanks Erick and Felipe for the great service! Watch out for chef Aldo and his tasty creations in the pool area. One day he brought bloody Mary's in cucumber cups and another day he brought fish ceviche tostadas - Yum! All of the bars have good service with good quality wines and spirits. The nightly entertainment in the lobby bar was only average. One day the hotel ran out of wine and people were upset by that but it was remedied the next day. The beach bar and snack bar were great places to get a burger by the beach. Crunchy onion rings and jalapeño poppers!

Yelp
We chose this hotel for our 8 day/7 night long Mexico vacation and it was a great choice! There were only a couple of minor cons. First, as we got ready for bed on our first night, we noticed that the fitted bedsheet was dirty. However, were able to use the hotel's Iberostar app to send a complaint/inquiry via message and the issue was quickly resolved. The only other issue was the shower design, since water seemed to get on the floor everywhere even if you placed a towel by the glass splash guard (if you are careful after showers you will be ok since the water dries fairly quickly). Now for the pros! For booking through a 3rd party app we got a balcony with an amazing view. There is a hanging rack to dry any wet items, which is fantastic for swimsuits. The table and chairs were nice too, since you could spend time outside but be protected from the high UV index (peaking at 11). The room itself is equipped with a stocked mini fridge (coca cola, sprite, mineral water, beer) which is replaced each day by housekeeping. The hotel also provides glass water bottles in each room that can be filled with filtered water via water bottle filling stations (they are close to the hotel rooms). As far as food goes the restaurants and buffets were pretty good! The breakfast buffet has a great selection of different foods (which as someone who likes savory breakfasts is a huge plus). The Mexican, Pacific Express/French, and Steakhouse restaurants all had you choose your order; the Japanese restaurant had a set menu. In addition to the afternoon buffet, there was a selection of French fries, burgers, hot dogs, fruit salad, and ice cream by the pool bar. For late night snacks we used the Iberostar app to order room service (the night buffet was closed during our stay) and they were all very tasty! The drinks were also tasty, although everyone in our party only felt drunk after drinking the bottled beer or wine All throughout our stay the staff (especially the entertainment staff) were awesome! Pepe, Chris, Alex, Roy, and Gio were all great at engaging everyone for activities. We were able to try archery, rifle shooting, darts, salsa dancing, bingo, and water aerobics. During the nights there were a variety of fun shows and very exciting trivia games! We were able to take our 'Rona tests on our second to last day, and besides feeling like pool water getting shoved up your nose the test itself and the verbal (and written) results were pretty efficient. We were also able to use the late check out ($10 per hour per room) since our flight was in the evening. Self parking at the hotel was included and pretty straightforward. Overall this was a great stay. For the entire week we all felt fed, exercised, and entertained. I would recommend Iberostar Playa Mita for a good time!

Yelp
The Resort was GORGEOUS with lots of places to take cute Insta pictures such as the bed, the swings, the clear glass in front of the water pond, etc. We enjoyed the Karaoke night, they just cut it short when we were about to get the courage to go sing after a few shots, lol. The staff in the musicals were very talented. We liked the preparing drinks idea, but for people not into musicals, it was a bit much, as there were multiple musical events. Perhaps a variety of events would have been nice. We were there only for a short 3 night trip due to work, and we were only able to make ONE reservation in those 3 nights after heading immediately to concierge. Besides that, we kept getting different information on cancellations and false hopes. "Check in at 3pm tomorrow, no, you check directly with restaurants, there's no waitlist, no, there is a waitlist...". Very disappointed in that aspect. Japanese restaurant was great though. Alvaro the cook was talented and hilarious, Dayana the waitress was very nice, and Alejandro the host was friendly, helpful, and amazing. The bar lounge had AMAZING music every night! In the night bar lounge, (didn't get her name) but there was an amazing waitress that set the example on good service, "Es un placer", was her response to every thank you. The other problem we faced was with excursions. Everything was booked. We had no choice but to book a boat ride until the day before leaving. The island "Majahuitas" was beautiful and sooo cute, but it was towards the inner side of the island, which nobody told us about. We discovered it until the captain alerted us it was time to leave. We rushed a quick video and I was sad I didn't get any pictures. The time was sooo brief too as we stopped for snorkeling. We felt they should have done both events at the island better, also food should have been served at the island. It had the cutest table setups. Though we believe the resort itself would be 5 stars, Some of their customer service and events need improvement, and also more openings to restaurants and excursions. In spite of it all, we still made the most of it and had an amazing time. I traveled with my family and we create a party and memories everywhere we go.

Yelp
Heard good things about this place but im here right now. This is gonna be a mixed review. Lets start with positives...food is decent, staff friendly, great beach well maintained clean and great to swim in the ocean, plenty of activities. Negatives no bottled water free nor to buy, masks required at the buffet, alcohol low grade level. Will i come back? Not until they make adjustement. Tips: best bar lobby main bar,go to japanese for dinner, buffet is okay, service better than average.. Cons: no bottled water, no disposible cups yet they enforce masks in buffet, no bottled water free or for sale, expect 10-15 dollar bottle alcohol. Ac problem constantly disfunctions. Called in they said its there is a problem in the resort. All day and night off and on frustrating. Overall rating could be better but covid and inflation has effected even Mexico. Flying back tomorrow.
