I booked this hotel in order to be near the Winterthur station and a conference venue (the ZHAW). In that respect it was fine -- only a 10-15 minute walk or 5-minute bus ride. It was also quiet, which was a nice surprise. I wasn't specifically looking for a cheap hotel, and this wasn't particularly cheap -- I paid chf 129/1 night including breakfast. However, the mattress was so bad that I barely slept. I imagine it was like sleeping on a horse hair mattress from the old days! Also, the window was unopenable and the "climate control" was absolutely ineffective. Don't book here on a hot day as I'm sure it will be absolutely stifling! Another detail I didn't notice when I booked is that there is no hair dryer in the room. You have to pay chf 20 as a deposit at reception. One more thing -- I'm not really picky about shampoo, but I suggest bringing your own, as the one here made my hair feel very dry afterwards. There was no conditioner, either, so bring your own if you have long hair.
The breakfast was ok -- I think it was an extra chf 10 (or maybe chf 20?). It included scrambled eggs, vienna sausages, yogurt, croissants, bread, cereal, juice (not very good) and coffee/tea.
