I stayed with my husband at IBIS Locarno on the weekend of 11–12 October during the Locarno–Ascona Half Marathon. While check-in, breakfast, and late check-out were fine, our stay was seriously affected by noise issues. Our suite was located above a technical floor, and there was a constant low sound throughout the night. Around 4 a.m., we were also disturbed by loud music coming from the next room. I can also smell smoke, and my husband told me that our neighbours were smoking in their room. The night administrator tried to intervene, but the situation was not properly resolved, and the music continued at a lower volume. As a result, we hardly slept before my race. Overall, I would recommend avoiding the first floor or rooms located above technical facilities, as they are not suitable for light sleepers.
