I would like to report an issue that occurred during my check-in at Ibis Budget Lugano.
My reservation showed a total price of £109, which included £10 city tax and 4% VAT. However, upon arrival at reception, the staff member (with a name tag “Daniel”) insisted that I needed to pay the city tax again, despite me showing him multiple times that it was already included in my Booking.com reservation.
He claimed that this was a mistake on Booking.com and that I was obliged to pay. After consulting with another staff member (possibly the manager), he returned without his name tag, which I found very unprofessional. When I informed him that I would contact Booking.com and leave a review, they stopped responding and offered no further explanation.
I kindly request Booking.com to investigate this issue, as the advertised price on your platform clearly indicated that city tax was already included. I would also appreciate your assistance in ensuring I am not overcharged.
