The hotel was fully booked, and we got the last availabe room. We checked in close to midnight and went up to the room to get some sleep. Much to our horrifying surprise, the room was already occupied - the man we woke up from what probably was deep sleep started screaming like his head was on fire, waking half the occupants of the other rooms on the floor.
From the reception staff we received a half-hearted apology, followed by arduous efforts on their part to identify the actual occupant of the room. Finding us the accommodation for which we had paid was secondary. We ended up waiting for an hour (which felt more like 3, since it was late and we were very tired) until they got around to making phone calls to find us a different hotel. After they did, they tried to make us pay for the price difference the other hotel was charging for their room, which we of course declined. One of the receptionists arranged transportation for us to said hotel, while his colleague was trying to get us to walk there (35 minute-walk, which she presented to us as 10 minutes). Needless to say, the experience with this ibis was really bad - the front-office staff present on that night should truly consider other career paths, because hospitality is clearly not their forte.
