ibis Madrid Alcala de Henares La Garena

This was our third time at this hotel. The staff were friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The rooms were clean and quiet. Breakfast was delicious and had a wide selection.

This is our third stay in this IBIS. It is a very nice hotel, clean, friendly and well located. The only thing that lets it down is the breakfast. It's a very basic continental breakfast buffet, which is fine if you're staying for one night, but over 3-4 nights it gets a bit repetitive and bland.

I arrived on the day of the 2025 Iberian Peninsula Energy blackout on the 28th of April. It obviously was not the hotel's fault but I found it a bit surprising that the staff didn't want to make an extra effort to just make the arriving guests feel welcomed and without hassle and worry. I had asked for a beer as a welcome drink but was told it wasn't possible because the computer system was down. If I had run the hotel I would have just opened the fridge and given the guest what he asked for and then waited till the next day to deal with such bureaucratic bagatelles.

Pleasant room, cleaned daily, nice outside space, quiet area, hardworking Pleasant staff, lovely breakfast.

Beds good, very convenient next to lidls and a bunch of restaurants and shops. However, we captured a cockroach on the bedroom floor (slipperless beware), when I told the housekeeper who didn't speak spanish well, at first she just said she would let the manager know and continued working, an hour later I told her again and brought her over to see the cockroach. She came with a wet toilet brush in her hand, uncovered the cockroach and flicked it with the brush leaving a wet trail all the way to the door where she started beating it to death with the toilet brush in the hall. Then scooped it with the brush, put it in her trash and went about her business. A bit of a shock to be honest. Safe to say I put the do not disturb sign up and just asked for a change of towels. I did like the swing chairs at breakfast, that was fun, and the possibility of a piano and guitar in the lobby was nice.

Relaxed, friendly and helpful staff and quiet room/other clients. Comfortable ambient temperature in the room, so I didn't need A/C on, which was preferable. My dietary restrictions didn't allow me to make use of the included breakfast. Enough variety in the nearby supermarkets and restaurants, and not far from the historic old town.

Lovely comfortable place with a huge bed. Great night's sleep. Very close to Lidl and other places. I just wish that hotels still had little fridges in the rooms. There was a cafe and bar plus outside seating. A really nice feeling to the place and lovely walks nearby.
