ibis Winterthur City

Arrived with a large group but checked in online ahead of time. still had to wait for the line because there was no indication of where Express check in could pick up their card and skip the line. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was minimal but adequate. Rooms were Ibis rooms and met expectations. Please do not sell the Accor Live experience without deploying it.

This is a budget hotel in a useful location for visiting businesses outside of Zurich which was what I needed it for. Don’t expect luxury, but a good low price for a budget-conscious traveller. A couple of issues I had were that the lift was not functioning when I arrived, and the air conditioning was rather loud.

Every detail, from the sleek furnishings to the clever storage solutions, made the stay feel both practical and luxurious. The shower was a standout—completely watertight with no hint of spillage, offering a refreshing and hassle-free experience. The hotel’s amenities were top-notch, adding a touch of indulgence to my visit. The staff were exceptionally courteous, going above and beyond to ensure my comfort, and I was genuinely touched when they gifted me a current edition luxury watch magazine as a souvenir—a delightful and unexpected gesture! I left mighty impressed and would highly recommend the Ibis Winterthur City to anyone seeking a perfect blend of efficiency, comfort, and warm hospitality.

My first flight was delayed so I missed my second one and stuck in Zurich for overnight, the airline got me this hotel. Transportation was ok, around 30 mins from Zurich airport, but there are many trains, then many buses to the hotel, pretty straightforward.

Nice clean hotel with paid parking. Shopping centre with supermarket opposite. 15 minute walk to the centre.

I had the unfortunate time of staying at IBIS Winterthur City (not the IBIS Budget) during my stay in Switzerland. As an Accor Hotel, I was expecting a much better property. The building was not maintained well, with the hallways reeking of a stale, oily odor. In addition, the room was super small, with barely any space to move around. Additionally, the website clearly articulated that the site had "Air Conditioning"; however, we found out that it simply had Air Cooling. The room was extremely hot and uncomfortable even after opening the windows and blasting the air cooler. The windows do not open fully for security purposes. With the small room and no air conditioning, the room was practically not livable. To top it all off, the room did not come with a coffee machine, even a basic coffee pot which 1-star hotels come with. They had a coffee machine in the lobby, but the hotel charged an egregious amount for each cup. The hotel was not a cheap and for the price that we paid, we could have gotten a better deal at another hotel in the area that was larger, more conveniently located, better maintained, and had better amenities. For anyone looking for accommodation in Winterthur, please look at other locations.
