I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Ibis Hotel in Winterthur City, Switzerland, and I must say, it was an absolute delight! The rooms, though compact, were brilliantly designed with a thoughtful layout that maximized space and comfort. Every detail, from the sleek furnishings to the clever storage solutions, made the stay feel both practical and luxurious. The shower was a standout—completely watertight with no hint of spillage, offering a refreshing and hassle-free experience. The hotel’s amenities were top-notch, adding a touch of indulgence to my visit. The staff were exceptionally courteous, going above and beyond to ensure my comfort, and I was genuinely touched when they gifted me a current edition luxury watch magazine as a souvenir—a delightful and unexpected gesture! I left mighty impressed and would highly recommend the Ibis Winterthur City to anyone seeking a perfect blend of efficiency, comfort, and warm hospitality.

My first flight was delayed so I missed my second one and stuck in Zurich for overnight, the airline got me this hotel. Transportation was ok, around 30 mins from Zurich airport, but there are many trains, then many buses to the hotel, pretty straightforward.

Fantastic Hotel. Excellent food. Unbeatable attention. Great atmosphere. Very pleasant ambient music. Totally recommended. I recommend taking advice from the professionals in the room. You are sure to have a wonderful experience. The hotel is a 10 min walk from the centre of Winterthur and its station. There is a frequent bus service outside. Zurich lake can be reached by train in under 20 mins and the Airport in about 15 by train. The hotel is next to a McDonalds and petrol station supermarket. My room was clean, the bed comfortable and was air-conditioned. The breakfast offering was good with some hot food.

I had the unfortunate time of staying at IBIS Winterthur City (not the IBIS Budget) during my stay in Switzerland. As an Accor Hotel, I was expecting a much better property. The building was not maintained well, with the hallways reeking of a stale, oily odor. In addition, the room was super small, with barely any space to move around. Additionally, the website clearly articulated that the site had "Air Conditioning"; however, we found out that it simply had Air Cooling. The room was extremely hot and uncomfortable even after opening the windows and blasting the air cooler. The windows do not open fully for security purposes. With the small room and no air conditioning, the room was practically not livable. To top it all off, the room did not come with a coffee machine, even a basic coffee pot which 1-star hotels come with. They had a coffee machine in the lobby, but the hotel charged an egregious amount for each cup. The hotel was not a cheap and for the price that we paid, we could have gotten a better deal at another hotel in the area that was larger, more conveniently located, better maintained, and had better amenities. For anyone looking for accommodation in Winterthur, please look at other locations.

Room is very small for two persons. There is not enough space to put down suitcase without getting stuck on it. Shower and toilet are divided and sink is between, in the room. There no locks on both doors (shower and toilet). In place where should be door lock is a hole, so when you shower, water sprays outside. And shower doors can not be closed completely. In th whole room there is just ONE electric socket, under the tv. When you charge 130e and put 2 people in a room with two laptops and two selfphones, you can't have one socket across the bed. After all, we asked for power extension and they gave it to us, with a 20e deposit. It was short. Window can not be opened. So only way to breath fresh air is to turn AC on. But it doesn't work very well. Funny thing is, hotel is promoting healthy life and ecology, but they force you to turn AC on, because you can't open the window.

Overall pretty good. Walking distance approx.10min to the train station. Petrol station outside which is open 24/7 shops over the road and a McDonald's. Reasonable price, clean room, great staff, small bar, breakfast was the usual continental but gets you set up for the day. I stayed for 2 nights on a business trip and wouldn't have a problem staying again.
