Beware, the beautiful photos are misleading! They mostly represent the very expensive upper floor room. We were assigned a room in a separate unit that had a 2 stories with a small spiral staircase to climb between floors, there were no photos of the staircase on the hotels.com site. My husband has a knee injury and so we asked for a refund since the photos were misleading. Neither the Icaco staff or hotels.com would provide a full refund. This place is a glorified airbnb on a busy street, without a nice swimming beach near by. We ended up cancelling at a 50% loss after we saw through the marketing glitz. They did not offer a full refund option when booking. Read the reviews carefully since some people seem to be ok with this place while others feel clearly feel mislead, as we did.

Having this central place as our hotel for the week really made our trip. The room was gorgeous and clean with a spacious balcony equipped with a hammock and beautiful ocean view. The staff were all amazing and helpful. Adhara and Edwin were always up for a chat while we were coming and going - giving us helpful recommendations and called us taxis if we needed. The best part was the breakfast delivered each morning by Lupita. A gorgeous spread fresh fruit with yogurt and granola and pastries along with fresh juices and coffee really allowed us to have a slow easy morning before starting our day. Thanks again!

We recently stayed at Icaco Hotel for four nights in February 2024, and it was truly a little piece of paradise. The warmth of the staff, including Victoria, Adaara, and Martha, added a special touch to the experience. The rooms were well-equipped and boasted stunning ocean views from the King Room, along with a delightful rooftop area.||One highlight was the refreshing and healthy cold breakfast served each morning, setting the perfect tone for the day ahead. While the property is a bit of a stroll, approximately 20 minutes from the main center, this distance proved to be a blessing, offering respite from the crowds and day trippers. However, it's worth noting that this distance may be a deal-breaker for some.||Being situated on the main road, there was some noise, but it was a minor inconvenience compared to the overall magic of the place. ||Overall, Icaco Hotel offers a tranquil retreat with exceptional service, making it a highly recommended destination for those seeking a serene getaway.

Perfect location. Stayed here at least 5 or 6 times over the years and it's the perfect t spot right out of town. You can easily hail a cab right from the property. We always find it convenient to rent a golf cart so I recommend that if your budget allows. The staff gives great local recommendations for beach clubs and restaurants and will arrange reservations for you too. Rooms come with robes and fresh towels, hammock, and privacy wall on the balcony. Air con is strong. Guru beach club waives their bed fee if you mention you're staying here. I know some reviews complain about street noise, but if you close the door, it's just white noise. At night, it's pretty quiet. Curtains used to be sheer, but they recently changed to blackout, so minimal light gets in if you prefer to sleep in. One last thing- I love love LOVE Lupita. She's been there forever and makes breakfast extra special each day. She remembers me every time I return. She helped take a stain out of my husband's shorts the last time we stayed. Beautiful staff that cares about making your stay special. Please be kind and tip them well! The work so hard all day to maintain the villa.

The Deluxe room is beautifully decorated, has a nice sea view, a comfy king size bed. You can see that a great attention is given to details. The room is very clean and the breakfasts excellent (you can order something specific the day before).||The staff is very welcoming and helpful, including for carrying your suitcases. The rooftop is stoning. ||It is also very nice to stay on the balcony.

Icaco is not worthy of the name hotel, you get a room which is in the middle of 2 busy roads. Upon arrival there is a gravel road as a driveway, you have to carry your suitcases as you cannot roll them. We booked a Deluxe Double Room with Balcony and Sea View, in reality we got a Single Room with balcony and road view. The room is described as whole unit on first floor, however, it is divided into ground floor (sitting area) and second floor (bathroom and bedroom). The pictures all look beautiful, but in reality you get something else. So the rooftop pool was a postage stamp size overlooking the road and no place to stay in the shade on the terrace.||The room is described as Deluxe double room, however we got a bed 1m14 wide. How can you even offer this as a double room? We kindly asked if we could get another room. There were no rooms available so we asked to cancel. At the reception they could not help us with this and we were referred to contact the manager via Whatsapp. That response was anything but customer friendly. They admitted it was a small bed, but canceling was not possible.||The shower looks fine at first glance, there is an ornate shell, however this makes showering impossible. Water drips out randomly so that it takes hours to completely shower.||The security also left much to be desired, the door cannot be locked properly, there is no one at the reception between 9pm and 9:30am.|Breakfast comes somewhere between 8 and 9:30 am. You cannot specify in advance what time you want your breakfast. When we got to the room in the afternoon, breakfast was still there full of ants!||Finally, the location: if you want to get to civilization it is at least a 30-minute walk. You can rent a golf cart, take a cab,... The hotel is on a very busy road so through traffic can be heard until 2/3am.||In short, the room is not worth its money, no reception, not customer friendly, pictures give a different picture than reality, small bed, bad shower, and so on.......

Update:||My credit card company credited me for this stay. ICACO charged my credit card a second time two weeks later for a larger amount. I disputed this charge as well and it was credited back to me. Charging someone’s credit card fraudulently is terrible business practice.||||I booked a hotel reservation at 1am only to find out the same morning Tropical Storm Alberto was going to arrive in Isla Mujeres the same days as my stay in June. I asked the hotel for a refund due to Alberto and because it had not even been 24 hours since I made the reservation; they said no. They accommodated me by switching the dates. The dates we switched to was the day after Hurricane Beryl hit Isla Mujeres. I was on the island the night Hurricane Berly hit and it knocked power out on Icaco’s side of the island. I drove by Icaco at 7pm the night before my reservation and it was boarded up with no electricity, my current hotel had electricity. I messaged the hotel asking if they were going to have electricity the next day when I checked in and they said they did not know. I let them know if not then I would be making other arrangements. The day of my reservation I did not hear from them that morning so I made other arrangements as I had to check out of my hotel. When I let them know I’d made other arrangements they THEN let me know -two hours before check in- that their power had been turned back on. I let them know unfortunately I hadn’t been in a position to wait and see and asked for a refund, they refused because my reservation was non refundable. Most reservations are non refundable when cancelled last minute but canceling due to not knowing whether your hotel was going to have power I assumed was reasonable, they did not. They made sure to tell me I had a “malicious attitude” for trying to cancel the first time due to Tropical Storm Alberto and that they only experienced rain and rain isn’t dangerous. Cancelling for not knowing whether you are going to have power in less than 24 hours before check in or to avoid a tropical storm is not malicious and entirely reasonable. I won’t do business with an organization that thinks otherwise. Had their power not been restored I would have been scrambling to find another accommodation, they only cared that it worked in their favor. This experience felt very greedy given I didn’t stay due to safety concerns over hurricane conditions. So buyer beware.

Wanted to get away from the hectic Cancun so we looked for a villa esc style room on Isla Mujeres AND What a find !! |Stunning views Amazing romantic room and very friendly staff , with a delicious breakfast delivered every morning , my only complaint… I DIDNT FIND Icaco sooner than wasting 3 nights in Cancun
