It is cool, it is worth seeing for sure. It is really cold, so make sure you wear warm clothes and boots, there is snow/slush on the ground and it can freeze your feet in a few minutes if not wearing proper shoes. Kids love this place and it could be fun. I think it is a bit overpriced for what it is though.

Google
Magical experience! Beautiful venue with the ice all lit up! Several ice slides of different sizes for kids of all ages! Ice mazes and sculptures were awesome! Took my daughters and grandson and we all had a blast! Bundle up though- especially be sure to wear snow boots!

Google
We got our tickets online and really enjoyed the beauty of the ice structures. What an amazing group of ice structures, the artists did an amazing job! I love the lighting embedded in the ice making it glow in beautiful colors. Such a shame it warmed up a week later and melted 😢 Glad we had a chance to check it out before it was closed for the season.

Google
Fun experience for the family. We enjoyed the carriage ride, however it wasn't a private carriage ride as we were hoping so that was a little bit of a letdown. All of the ice is fun and exciting, it's a beautiful experience overall.

Google
The Ice Castles were magical. It was beautiful and something everyone should be able to see and explore. The sleigh ride my whole family enjoyed and all of the staff from the people that you give your tickets to, to the people who were handling the horses were polite, professional and very helpful.

Google
Nice sculptures. I went at 4pm, but I believe that without sunlight it should be more impressive. Interesting, but not sure if it worth $35 per person.

Google
A little winter oasis in the middle of nowhere. The creativity and craftsmanship is amazing, and it was larger than I was expecting. But at almost $30 a person one visit was enough. Outside of walking through, hot chocolate, and photo ops there's not much more to it.

Dress warm! We went around 8 and still was cold. I wouldn't recommend wearing tennis shoes. Not very many fire pits available to warm up. The experience was nice. If you have small children, take a little pull sled so you don't have to pack them, makes it a lot easier.

Yelp
We had a great time! First and foremost dress for the weather and most definitely wear snow boots. The ground is icy and slushy and uneven. I even suggest wool socks to keep your toes warm. Snow pants are also ideal too if have them. We went at 4:30pm so we got to see the ice castles both during the day and at night as the sun went down around 5:45/6pm. By 6pm it was getting very crowded and hard to walk through but it was so fun seeing it all lit up. We did the sleigh ride. Our driver was excellent! He was very informative and told funny jokes. I forgot his name but he made the freezing cold sleigh ride a lot more fun! I didn't realize that the sleigh ride had lights throughout so we barely got to see those since it was still light out. But it was still neat. We paid for the souvenir photo and you get one printed out, and the others emailed to you. They have a small gift shop at the end and to be honest I wish they had one at the front selling the hand warmers because I would have bought some! But having them available for purchase at the end wasn't helpful in my opinion. They had a small stand for hot cocoa and bite sized goodies to snack on, but because it was the only place to purchase the lines were awfully long. I would suggest opening another food truck up or something to encourage more people to purchase. I would have loved a hot cocoa to stay warm. They had a few small propane fire pits throughout to stand and warm up. They had a few ice slides for the kids to go on and one for adults too. That was neat. There were several ice tunnels to walk through and they get crowded. It would be nice if they had them going one way routes because they tended to get backed up with people trying to get through in the opposite direction. There were ice sculptures like a unicorn and a throne. There are trivial facts throughout that inform you of how the ice castles are made, how many artisans it takes to make them, how many pounds of ice, etc. Overall we really enjoyed the experience. I'd love to go again, but I also think it could be a do once experience.

Emma W.

Yelp
I've wanted to go to the Ice Castles for years and so glad I finally did! My boyfriend and I went on an off-peak day and it was totally worth it. There were pretty much no lines and the amount of people there and parking was super manageable. Be sure to bundle up and wear good shoes with traction. We loved watching the fire show and going down their ice slide.

Yelp
This was such a fun little experience! I would recommend trying to get a ticket for the time slot about 30 mins before sunset (around 5pm). Also, try to go during the week (Monday - Thursday) to get cheaper ticket prices! Their website says there may be walk-up tickets available, but the best prices and guaranteed entry come from purchasing online ahead of time. The attraction opens at 4, so it wasn't too crowded at the beginning of our time slot (5pm). As time went on, we were able to see the ice castles during the day and when they got lit up after sunset, which was pretty cool! It does get pretty crowded as you get into the evening, and this is not somewhere to be if you are not fond of little kids; there were several crying babies and little kids running around. If you want to do the sleigh ride, it's an extra $14. Parking was also a little crazy on the way out after finishing up, so be careful. Also, if you are not a fan of being in strangers' photos, this may not be the place. Tripods aren't allowed in, but several people had DSLR cameras and many people had their phones out.

Nancy F.

Yelp
Purchased 2 online tickets for my grandchildren for $34.00. When I arrived at the event, I needed 1 more ticket for a grandparent and was charged $43.00! Ridiculous and total price gouging!

Tina S.

Yelp
We had a lot of fun here today! We planned accordingly and wore Snow pants and snow boots and coats and gloves, I highly recommend the same. I saw people in tennis shoes and crocks, no way!! You need the gear to go down the slides made of ice and to triage in the snow. We got our workout in for sure. I'd plan for 30-40 minutes. It was beautiful and the slides were the best part, fun for all!! We will be back, next time at night to see the lights and have a little butt more magical fun!

Amy S.

Yelp
We traveled from San Diego for the ice castles and enjoyed it. Initially from the parking lot, they looked smaller than in photos however once you're inside they do feel taller than they appear from far away. It seems like it was a warmer year, as some of the caves had started to melt but you cannot predict what will happen with nature. They were very pretty and it was beautiful to see all of the castles and details and go down the slide. I wish there were more lights as advertised but it was still pretty. We arrived around 4:45 and saw them during daylight, then did a 5:30 sleigh ride and walked around one more time at night. I would probably skip the sleigh ride as there was t much to see however it was a long ride for the cost if that's something you enjoy. They also sold hot cocoa and had clean porta-potties which made for an overall nice experience. Would recommend snow pants if you plan to go down the slides. Soldier Hollow also has tubing until 4:30pm so if you want to make the most of everything you could go tubing at some point before or after your reservation as it is literally next door up the hill.

Yolanda M.

Yelp
It was a cute experience. I think it's more so good if you're a family with kids, as they get to run around and play in the different caves. My husband and I did one quick walk through, took a couple of pictures and were ready to go. It was nice and the price wasn't crazy for what it was. I would say... would I do it again? No. But it was cool to at least see it. The horse sleigh ride was nice, but there wasn't much scenery. I would say don't spend your money on it.

Anthony K.

Yelp
This is awesome family fun for all. Do dress up warm and bring snow pants / water resistant clothing. There are structures for kids to climb/slide down on. Boots are highly recommended.

Brena E.

Yelp
This was a nice experience. We started with a sleigh ride, which was longer than I was expecting. We saw a bunch of deer too. It was crowded and there were a bunch of people who were taking senior pictures or they were influencers and they were blocking the entrances to some of the castles. I think they should've limited that. The ground had a lot of loose snow versus being more shoveled. That made it challenging to walk around. I wish I had worn taller boots.

Jessica S.

Yelp
Ice Castles is an amazing winter wonderland! This is a must visit anytime we have out of town guests come during the winter. It truly never disappoints! They have caves, tunnels, slides! It's something the whole family can enjoy while building memories. We love going at night when it's all lit up with different colors. It really adds to the magic.

Glenda S.

Yelp
This place was a lot of fun. We really want to go back at night. They have it lit up after dark and it seems like that would make it magical.

Isaac R.

Yelp
It is a cool experience to be around, it doesn't have a lot to do, but it is something that needs to be checked off from a to-do list. They have a horse ride, but I think it's better on the day. At night you can still see, but I think it looks better during the day. The ice castles I do think are better at night. They do have fresh churros, I think these have been the best fresh churros I've ever tried.

Debra V.

Yelp
Loved this Ice Castle at night. I ordered timed tickets on line, but many people walked up to the ticket windows. It's for families of all ages. My young adult sons came and enjoyed it since we were on vacation. The castle is pretty with colored lights, and it's fun to look for hidden things. We went down the slides and took pictures. Wear snow pants and boots. It's cold, and you need them. The snowy sand-like ground could be difficult to walk on if someone had a balance problem. Parking is free. This is located on Soldier Hollow Lane next to the sledding hill.

Emily L.

Yelp
Saw this many years ago and I wanted to come so bad. So what did I do? I booked a trip to SLC and went to see the ice castles. They are located in midway and I get it, it's weather dependent. The castles itself are not that big in height. Customer service? Non existent. I tried changing my reservation and their email service doesn't work. It's like a circus when you arrive. Literally 100s of kids running around and not at all safe. The castle isn't that big circumference wise either, and the lines for the slide? Easily 20 mins. Workers don't care. They don't make enough to yell at kids all day. Will not be returning to another ice castle. Better luck next time.

Erin J.

Yelp
Love this place. It may be a bit overpriced but that's what discount codes are for ;) We had to make an appointment to go so I made one a week in advance and there were a few slots left. It was a freezing cold evening but we had so much fun and stayed for about an hour and a half. The kids could've stayed probably another hour playing on the slides and walking through the caves. We've been here twice and I'm sure we'll be back in the future.

Paul G.

Yelp
This place is apparently not known by many, considering that I posted on social media, and no one had a clue. This has to be one of the best winter sites in the world! We chase the snow and travel to tons of winter destinations, and nothing compares to this magical Winter Wonderland. The best part is it is convenient to get to add not dangerous like going to natural formations that look similar to this. We were lucky to encounter this in the middle of a snowstorm, which made it even more magical.

Johanna L.

Yelp
Beautiful place! If you are spending some vacation in Park City, you have to come here. It is worth it!

Mylan D.

Yelp
What a wonderful experience! I came here twice: morning and evening on different days of course. The first time I came here was extremely busy because someone posted online hoax that Elsa from Frozen was going to be there opening day and unfortunately, she was nowhere to be found. The second time was in the evening had all the bright lights and a fire show. Although there were tons of kids/Elsas running around, I prefer the daytime views than the light shows at night. You can see more of the detail in the ice structures, you get better lighting for pictures, and the best part is that it's also warmer! Night time, it's extremely cold. It was 14 degrees when I went at 9pm and I felt like an ice sculpture. The changing color of lights are pretty awesome and silhouettes are cool but it's not worth the cold! I got a little bit of ice in my socks and my feet became wet making it even mire cold! Highly recommend snow boots. I had on waterproof hiking boots, but all the ice/snow you pick up just walking around will still get in your socks. There's cool ice chairs, slippery slides, and little tunnels to walk through. Really cool experience if you're coming here for the first time. The lines for the slides may be about 10-15 minute wait, but those 15 seconds are so worth it! Hot cocoa and is served in cups or souvenir cups to help stay warm. Come prepared!

Michael C.

Yelp
This place is one of the most disorganized places I have ever been to, we paid for the entrance, sleigh ride, and personal photo. They had two sleighs running and they did not stagger the sleighs, so you very well could be waiting 30+ minutes for the ride, both sleighs came back and the sleighs filled up so we would've had to wait another 30 minutes to get on them, the entrance line was the same as the exit line, so people getting off the ride were walking through bumping into the people waiting, we finally just gave up and left, it was absolute waste of money

Coral G.

Yelp
Wear appropriate snow shoes! The ground is not level at all and since there are so many people and kids walking around the ground has a lot of deep foot prints.

Crissa L.

Yelp
I do recommend the ice castles, but we had a pretty major issue with communication/tickets/staff. When we entered, the person taking our tickets Saif we had to buy carriage tickets as we entered - right then - if we wanted them. We checked twice, as this was pretty problematic for a group including someone with a mobility disability and a neuro atypical child. We would have no idea if we would realistically be able to handle the carriage after the whole thing, but he repeated that we had to decide right then so we bought tickets. One ticket fell out of a pocket, but we figured it wouldn't be a problem because we had the receipt. Then we get to the end, and we had to walk through the ticket line again...so...we could have decided to buy tickets after, and it would have been just as easy and way less risky. Turns out that is *really important* to know not just this for a group like ours, but also that sometimes the carriage takes a break for the horses welfare. So the carriage was not running when we were able to go. We were of course unable to wait and see when it would run again, given our group limitations, and they would not refund the missing ticket despite the receipt. So the while thing was a pretty big disaster that ended in a lot of tears and difficulty despite how fun the actual ice castles were. Hope this helps someone else.

Don C.

Yelp
I can't believe I waited all day to look at a bunch of ice. The lines were terrible and the toilets were freezing. Also I could of seen that in my freezer for free.

Nycole R.

Yelp
Yes, it's cold outside. But put on your coat and snow pants and check this place out. It's worth it. I promise. Purchase tickets online- daytime if you want a tiny bit warmer and less crowded, nighttime if you want to see the lights. Bonus if you come around 5:30-6 when the sun is just setting. Makes for some beautiful pictures. Once you get your ticket, you walk a short distance and find yourself surrounded by ice. There are tunnels, walkways, even a slide. (Snow pants make this part much more enjoyable-both for speed and warmth.) Grab a snack or hot chocolate while you're wandering. The churros looked delicious but I didn't try one. Next time.

George D.

Yelp
They cancelled all events in Midway UT last week and have not yet refunded our tickets. They leave no phone number for a live agent online. I am sure we will be able to eventually dig up a real phone number for them, but the lack of customer service by only providing an email address and a recorded line is poor.

Abigail M.

Yelp
The Ice Castles are so magical! You wander through towering ice caves and tunnels. There are slides to go down, people making ice sculptures, fire pits to stop and warm up. The Ice Castles are definitely a fun tradition to have or even just go to once (but you'll wanna go back!) Dress warm, cuz it's cold , wear snow boots or super warm shoes because the ground is snow and it's a few inches deep in some places and hav

Sydney S.

Yelp
You have to search for Ice Castles SOLDIER HOLLOW or it will take you to the old location (rip me). Pretty fun and a first for my family. Very cold, but the lights were so pretty! Definitely something to see at least once!

Zaneta B.

Yelp
If you are visiting early January through beginning of February, the Ice Castles in Midway is a neat experience. You have to monitor their website and or social media to know exact dates as it's weather permitting. Once you do get tickets, though, it's worth visiting. We wish it had been a bit bigger but still enjoyed it. We visited winter of 2020. We are planning to go again winter of 2021. I'll post updated info with Covid protocols too.

Mindy M.

Yelp
Not worth it. Almost 2 hours to go through the line with pre-purchased tickets and struggle to walk anywhere on 6+ inch deep ice chunks and all but maybe 2% of children are completely unaccompanied by their adults. The number of children out of control made the experience even worse as they were throwing ice and running around into people almost knocking them down when it was already hard to stand or walk in the first place without having someone's kids cause you to fall down. If the people in charge of the event aren't going to make people keep their children under control, they should have kid-free and kid-friendly days separately from each other. I didn't pay over 20$ for hiking in calf-deep ice or to get knocked down into the ice ground covering. If I would have known that this was going to be like that, I would have never gone. There were two "slides" that were both shorter than a park playground slide in length and the sliding was by being pushed to start moving and not gravity.

Justine S.

Yelp
Very disappointed. We live in Seattle and were planning to visit Utah. I bought three pre-booking tickets so we could pre book before it was open to the general public. However, our whole family tested positive for Covid and we had to cancel our plans. I have tried to contact them to get my almost $80 back. You will hear from someone but then when you tell them your needs, they leave you hanging with no response. It's been about 3 weeks since I have contacted them. I keep trying and still no reply. Very disappointing

Mann K.

Yelp
BOOKING BEWARAE: Company stated explicitly on original website opening day as the 2nd of January. It was our only day of travel to attend and therefore prebooked tickets. Multiple emails to the company avoided answering our timeline concerns. Image attached. AFTER I pointed out the company's opening day via website they ignored responding to me and changed the website then went on to imply it was not stated on the 2nd. Even though web history shows this is incorrect. I find this approach to be very devious and shows lack of ethics of this company. The company has closed my tickets without proper response as an attempt to ignore addressing us. I

Yelp
Honestly pretty disappointed this time. We went 2 years ago and it was absolutely magical. This year there wasn't as much lighting, no fountain, not nearly as spectacular as we experienced before. We drove over an hour to get there so it was a bit of a bummer.

Laura R.

Yelp
Cute and probably worth it if you have kids. My husband and I just went and were in and out in twenty. For the drive and for $60, I wouldn't recommend just for adults but probably more valuable with a younger crowd.

Colton H.

Yelp
The fee to transfer a ticket/ change the date you want to visit is just as much as the actual ticket is worth. Not a great customer experience.

Lisa K.

Yelp
DO NOT GO TO ICE CASTLES IN UTAH, if you are concerned about risk exposure to COVID-19. The website is all about 6' distance, mask wearing, etc. etc. but the truth of the matter is they let everyone in with no guidance or guidelines and let the masses run free (kids especially). Once there, folks can stay as long as they want, making a huge mass of people packed in. The kids' slide or "Covid slide" as my family calls it - is especially concerning. It only can handle one child at a time and all the children want to ride it... so the families are packed in tight to get their place in line. Stay at home this year. Sorry, but not this year. A waste of money. We left after 10 minutes because it was unbelievably scary and could not enjoy its beauty.

Lydia M.

Yelp
Can you sleep at ice castle and have wedding there how cold does it get and what is the cost

JD H.

Yelp
This place is spectacular, they had tunnels threw the ice and side made out of ice. It was very cool at night because they have lights in all of the ice sculptures. 5/5

Shirley Z.

Yelp
If you are in Utah, be sure to check out the ice castles before it closes off to the public in February!! If you decide to come, I'd suggest you dress in layers, wear good snow boots, gloves, scarves, and maybe bring some hand warmers because IT WILL BE COLD!! And please don't be that guy who comes in a t-shirt and shorts. As I was wandering around the ice castles, I overheard the workers explain that the castles take seven weeks to complete, not counting the days that the workers stick the icicles onto the roofs. It's astounding to see such beautiful creations right by my home -- my east coast friends should be envious. Unfortunately, I did not go during the night time when they turn on the lights. But the castles are mesmerizing during the day nevertheless. After walking around for about two hours, my feet were frozen. So again, be prepared!

Yukiko M.

Yelp
My ticket was 4:00-4:30. I got there around 4:25pm. I was able to see day time and night time. When they light up it's totally different experience. If you have time I recommend both! You need snow boots. It's snow and ice. It's keep warm! They sales hot cocoa and churros too!

Frank T.

Yelp
First of all, the address on Yelp is 3 years old. It's actually located in Homestead Resort. 5 miles away from the address on Yelp. This really is a place for kids. I have grandkids that are too old for this place. The ice walls were well done but there is little variety in the look and feel. The senior price was $12 each. We waited for 10 minutes to get in and spent 15 minutes and left. It was a total waste of money and time. If you have kids you might like it.

nicolle m.

Yelp
It's beautiful but definitely to expensive for how little the area is. It's basically a circle with very very small slides!! I was only able to go down 1 slide with my 13 year old son. After being there for 20 minutes we were ready to leave. Not much to see or do, I wouldn't go back.

Tim B.

Yelp
Customer service is terrible. Absolutely refused to provide refund when several members of the family came down sick.

Mo T.

Yelp
My family and I absolutely loved it! We were a little unsure walking up to the place, but were instantly fascinated with this place and all of it's beauty. We're from Southern Cali, so this was great! I can see how some wouldn't be as impressed but we had a blast and enjoyed the close proximity to Park City as well.

Jennifer T.

Yelp
What a fun experience especially at night. They say crowds were limited due to the pandemic which is why no walk up tickets were available and you had to schedule a time to arrive. You could add on a sleigh ride. Ours unfortunately got canceled so that was a bummer. Also they have a coffee stand inside that sells warm drinks such as cappuccinos and hot cocoa. They even sell churros with chocolate or caramel for dipping. Kind of a once in a lifetime thing since we drove from Montana. Would I go every year? No. If I lived closer and had kids then I would probably attend regularly. Was it worth a 7 hr drive??? Not really, but we can say we have seen it.That is just my personal opinion.

Julie D.

Yelp
The Midway Ice Castles is such a fun winter activity for folks of any age! My fiancé and I went during the week and had a great time. We purchased tickets online before we arrived and were driven from the parking lot to the ice castles by a shuttle they provide. The check in process was easy and the folks working were all extremely pleasant! Right when you enter, they have a photographer that can take photos of your group and then you go into the castles. We were both surprised by how large the castles are and had a blast exploring each area, riding the slides, going into the igloos, etc. We liked the small details inside like the firepits, cinnamon rolls/hot cocoa/cookies that were on sale, and the fountain in the middle. I'd HIGHLY recommend wearing pants/clothes that can get wet if you plan on riding the slides and snow boots as it did get a little slippery in places. Warm clothes is a must as you can stay in there for 30 minutes easy. I think this was a great activity and we are so happy we made the drive out to check them out!

Andrew C.

Yelp
We had some friends visiting from out of state and so we had to find something you couldn't do in California. So what better than visiting a snowy ice castle :) it was pretty fun with our small group of friends. I also didn't realize just how popular this place would be! When I looked at available spaces the night before, the entire afternoon block was available - plenty of space. Come morning, there were only 2 available spots where I could pre-order tickets! That definitely filled up fast. The drive was pretty straightforward, although the turn off to Midway came up suddenly, and it was easy to get there with the help of gps. Tickets online for adults was around $18.45 with tax. If you buy on-site (although no guarantee of space) it costs you around $15 per adult and maybe $20 depending on demand? I didn't look into that point too much since I was doing in advance. Was a good time! Definitely bring boots since the snow and ice below your feet is a bit loose and soft (so it gets everywhere). Dress warm!

Lindsey T.

Yelp
Dress for the weather and this place is great! Fascinating scenery and fun for kids!

Latoya R.

Yelp
This is an excellent experience for people with small children! I went with three of my girlfriends during a recent visit to Sundance. As grown women, we wanted to see an actual ice castles. You know, like a Disney castle, but with ice. Maybe my expectations were too high. The highlights for me were the slide, fire show, and the hot chocolate. My friends who are lushes, refused to drink the hot cocoa because it didn't have alcohol in it. I mean, hello it's Utah! I'm not sure what type of snow they used at the Ice Castle, but it felt like I was walking on a sandy beach. It's a nice workout for your legs though! We stayed for about 90 minutes, which should have actually been 30 minutes but we couldn't find the exit. Overall, it's a cool experience (pun intended),but I don't have to experience it again.

Taylor H.

Yelp
So much fun! The castles are amazing and the slide was so much better than I expected! Dress warm because, well it's ice so it's cold. Warm socks because even my snow boots were cold and a waterproof coat are best if you go in the day and the ice is dripping. I would definitely recommend this, especially if visiting from somewhere that doesn't have snow!

Vicki H.

Yelp
This is something you must go see at least once. It's hand-made ice castles and caverns that is cool in daylight and even better at night. You have to buy the tickets ahead of time, in half hour intervals, which is awesome because it doesn't get too crowded. They have some smaller ice slides for the kids, and a bigger double tunnel for adults. You will want to dress warm, the kids need snow pants to slide, and DEFINITELY wear snow boots because you walk on broken and crushed ice and your feet will be wet and freezing if you don't. You are encouraged to bring sleds to pull little ones because there's no way you could push a stroller in that stuff. We found discounts online, but the prices are around $11 on weekdays and $16 on weekends, kids are a little cheaper. Use an online map, it's not hard to find but there are no signs to help and it's a drive. Well worth it though!
