51 Most Romantic Places in the U.S.A.

"The Ice Castles, located near Lincoln, New Hampshire, have become known for the otherworldly glow they give off at night. The frozen structures — which look like something straight out of a certain Disney movie — are built from scratch each winter, and come springtime, they melt away. Visit in January for the best chance of enjoying these beauties in optimal wintry weather." - Travel + Leisure Editors

Beautiful work and it’s different each year! Stay as long as you’d like for the day (they open at 4pm EST and be mindful of the crowds). Tubing, ice slides, the castle is multi level, has all kinds of beautiful photo spots, ice thrones as well as sculptures, & they have some food trucks and fit pits to warm up around. There’s also a cool sleigh ride pulled by Belgian horses (beautiful gentle giants!) for an additional charge. Been here a couple of years and it’s always a great time. Busier than you’d expect, but absolutely worth the experience!

First time here and we absolutely loved it! We were hesitant on doing it at night (with the cold weather) but it was better than we expected. The lights were amazing and the kids loved every corner. We spent about an hour here just taking photos and drinking hot chocolate. The kids slide was really fun too. Next time we will look into the sleigh ride. We went at 8pm on a Wednesday and it was very calm. We were really able to enjoy all of the views. Staff were very friendly and welcoming.

If you haven't been, you gotta go once. Easy flow in and out of the large parking lot, free by the way. Neat exhibits and a 1/4mile stroll through a very cool 'enchanted forest'. They have food, drink (no alcohol), a bunch of stuff you can buy. Definitely, kid friendly, bring good boots and dress very warm.

An incredible experience! Imagine towering ice sculptures—stunning ice castles crafted from dazzling millions of pounds of ice! Feel the thrill as you glide down electrifying ice slides designed for all ages, including a charming little slide perfect for the kids. As night falls, the magic truly begins—these breathtaking ice castles come alive with an enchanting display of colorful lights, creating a mesmerizing atmosphere. Add in the melodic tunes that dance through the air, and you have an unforgettable winter wonderland. Stroll through this sparkling paradise, where every step unveils more twinkling lights and delightful surprises! * Strongly recommend wearing warm, insulated clothing, including snow pants, boots, gloves, and hats

The Ice Castle is a mesmerizing destination that captivates both kids and adults alike. The intricate ice sculptures and glowing lights create a magical ambiance that feels straight out of a winter fairy tale. A highlight is the slides, designed to entertain visitors of all ages—fun for children and a delightful touch for adults wanting to embrace their inner child. To enhance the experience, I recommend trying the 10-15 minute sled ride, available for $25. While it’s not particularly adventurous or thrilling, it offers a pleasant and family-friendly activity, perfect for creating cherished memories with kids. Overall, the Ice Castle is a fantastic outing for families, blending awe-inspiring visuals with fun activities that everyone can enjoy. Highly recommended for a unique winter adventure!

Google
The majestic Ice Castles is such a magical place in New Hampshire! ❄️ I recommend every family and friend group to visit the Ice Castles simply to enjoy all they have to offer. Personally, after checking the website and actually going in person, I was shocked with the surprises not mentioned on the website like the light show walk through. The light show was so peaceful and whimsical. There was not one moment I was bored or not blown away by all that was so beautifully crafted or designed for all to see and experience. The check in process was smooth, the ice sculptures were spectacular, and the icicles were astonishing in their own creative way. The only thing I would say is to be careful of pathways that aren’t paved the best to prevent falls. Many of those around my friend and I fell due to the low lighting at night and pathways that were fairly slippery. Which also means you should wear winter boots that provide exceptional traction and warmth throughout your visit. Be sure to enjoy some snacks, chill by the fire to warm up, slide down the ice slide, glide down the snow tubing lanes, and of course take all the photos that you can! Above all, Ice Castles has something to enjoy at every age and it’s totally worth your visit! 😊

Google
The experience was not the worst but had lots of room for improvement. The attendants throughout the location were not friendly except for the front entrance, Dave (driving the sleigh ride) and the photographer. The rest were rude or not engaged at all. Lots of drunk adults acting like idiots and throwing their trash in the nooks of the castle. Also kids damaging the ice and parents not stopping them and staff oblivious. The snow tubing area was chaos. Attendant did not give a care and people were being hit by riders coming down the hill. I would recommend avoiding that part. The lights were nice, professional photo came out well and it was overall worth the trip. It would be nice to see the management step it up in the areas mentioned.

Google
Went on a weeknight. Pre-bought tickets for the castles and the sleigh ride, and I would definitely pre-buy everything. We had an amazing experience, and our entry time allowed us to view them in the daylight and at night. I would highly recommend seeing them at both times as they provide unique opportunities for pictures and look very different in the daylight. We had never been on a sleigh ride before, and we enjoyed the tour and lights and lanterns in the woods. It lasted about 8 minutes. There are some sledding and intertubing opportunities. We waited about 30 minutes for the two we tried, and had an absolute blast. There is a walk through the woods with amazing ice carvings, lights, and photo opportunities. My kids didn't want to go on that part, but they ended up loving the short trek and seeing all the unique displays. There are some propane fires to warm up (limited seating), and some food and beverage options. There are bathrooms and porta-potties available if needed. The bathrooms were heated. We would definitely go back if we're ever in the area at the right time. We spent about 3 hours in total, but you could spend longer if you wanted to sled or tube more.

Yelp
Absolutely surreal--this should be on everyone's bucket list! The castles were breathtaking, offering a magical experience both during the day and at night. I chose the 4:30 PM time slot, which was perfect for seeing them in daylight and then illuminated after dark, adding to the enchantment. Buy tickets in advance because it will sell out. Admission includes tubing and sledding, with horse-drawn carriage rides available for an additional fee. Plus, there's a bar serving warm drinks, including spiked options, to keep you cozy!

Yelp
This is such a fun adventure walking thru a world of ice paths in a sort of Castle. A fun maze of shapes and arches in a kaleidoscope of colors built in the ice. Plus a forest walk in the woods full of funky lights was a delight. Stop by the ice bar for a hot chocolate and a few minutes to warm by the tiny gas fire pit to warmup. A good 90 minutes of delight!! Get tickets in advance to be sure a spot to get in this seasonal treat!

Jonathan D.

Yelp
Heard about this from a colleague. Drove up from Boston. Great family friendly spot. What a unique experience and sight.

Yelp
A fantastic, amazing and very entertaining place.A good place to spent a beautiful day. A magical place like in a fairy tale

Yelp
Went here this weekend with a large group (8 adults), we purchased tickets approximately three weeks before. This is a family friendly event and highly recommend for children!! The castles were connected with tunnels, ice seats, slides, a tubing hill and an igloo bar!! We did not participate in the sleigh ride as this was an additional cost. We arrived 15 minutes early and admitted in!! My suggestions for your attire are layers, lots of layers, snow pants / ski suit with snow boots, hat and gloves!! Everyone should visit the castle at least once!!

Barbara H.

Yelp
Everything was awesome, so much more than I expected!! Just wear boots with a good grip! Sleigh ride worth the extra money.

Yelp
Ice castles were a nice place to visit on our trip to New Hampshire. It was quite warm the day we went so wearing snowpants and snow jacket were overkill. I'd definitely recommend them on cold days though. It was busy but not overcrowded so we were able to do both the slide and the tubes. Both fun! Location was easy to find. Parking lot was really muddy and even had to use four wheel drive to get up the muddy hill to exit. Wear water proof boots or snow boots for sure
google avatar

Barbara K.

Yelp
It was really fun!!! Very well organized and definitely family friendly. Come prepared for the weather and you'll be all set to take it all in!!

Yelp
The ice castles are definitely over hyped. Its better if you have kids, but its not all that for adults. Everything is wayyyy overpriced. 2 drinks from the polar pub were $30, and 3 out of 4 of the fire pits were broken/out of propane. the sleigh rides were $25/person and youre sitting with 12 strangers on the sleigh. The snow tubing was closed because everything was melting, and it was only the second opening weekend. The daytime was cool, but id probably recommend going at night because everything lights up. I thought the ice "castles" itself was much larger, but you could probably get through them all in a 10 min walk. It isnt as big as you think it is. Its a great place for photos but thats about it. Definitely buy your tickets in advance.
google avatar

Yelp
Visited on 2/17/24. It was a nice experience, walked through a nice light route. Did the sleigh ride, it was short maybe like 5-10min. Not sure I would go again, but it was nice to go the one time.

Yelp
If you have kids they would love this place. but as couple, the prices were way too high for what we got. ice castles were not pretty ( or worthy ) to take bunch of photos. lights was worth it but I dont think I'd come back again. hot chocolate was also soo expensive too.
google avatar

Yelp
This was a unique and cool (pun intended) activity. Two adults - no kids - and we enjoyed walking around, taking pictures, sledding. I giving 4 vs 5 stars because it was less than I expected. Maybe I looked at too many pictures before going? They are gorgeous and the place looks huge. It isn't. Again, not complaining - simply stating that it was less than I'd imagined. The walking path was nice. I loved the lights. As others have said though, a portion of the trail was dark. Dress warmly. Coat, ski pants, boots and gloves. We were here for a couple hours.

Yelp
I really had an excellent time at ice castles. I wasn't too excited about going, but a friend wanted me to take the trip with him. But I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and had an excellent time. We went later in the evening... 9:30 PM we were able to get there to see most of the sites and have a cocktail. I'm sure you could probably BYOB if you're discreet. Some things I would recommend. When we went there, it was 19° and fairly well prepared, but here are some things that I would do different: -If you have crampons bring them. I had a pretty bad slip and fall and hit some ice and puncture my cheek. Not necessarily big deal for me since I'm an avid hiker and rock climber, and was able to recover, but crampons would have been amazing to have. - Have appropriate footwear. If you're going there with tennis or athletic shoes you are looking for issues. The keyword is ICE. - Dress appropriately. Hat, gloves, scarf, appropriate pants and jacket. The wind will go right through you if you're not ready for it. Layer up! - Expect to slip and fall. They have you sign a very significant waiver as you enter the park, so protect yourself. If you're not capable to walk through slush and ice, then this may not be for you. - have a fun toboggan slide. That is very short and the line goes very quick. There's also a tubing hill. The line was significant and I wasn't ready to wait in line after a day of hiking Mansfield. But it did look like it would've been a blast. - Go on a cold day. Preferably in the evening, so the sun is down and it will not get melting. I would think this would make it even worse. Looking at some of the other reviews, this may be a significant mistake that they made going during the day when it's above 25° or so. I know that limits the opportunity but plan ahead. I will say that this was so much fun for me. As we were leaving there was somebody that said, "what a waste of money this was..." I had 100% opposite opinion. This may not be something you would go to more than once every couple years, but certainly it was extremely enjoyable for me. Adult beverages are about $15 each. Another review was complaining about that but it's liquor and a specialty location. Think about what you're paying for a cocktail and an average bar... About the same. So don't cry.

Kam K.

Yelp
Mixed review. Good in the sense that the kids enjoyed themselves, so that was a plus. Also, nice lights through the woods makes a nice option other than just the ice caves. The not so good, to the point of very frustrating, is the high cost. Booked for the "non-peak" days but was charged the "peak" cost. Then the really frustrating part is they also charge "junk fees" in the form of "service fee" for each ticket. So for 4 tickets, it was an extra $10.75. For what - you are booking your slot on their website. Further, once there everything is expensive: $4.50 for a very small cup of hot chocolate, and $25. a person, no matter the age, for the short slay ride through the woods. Long line and slow moving for a little hill tube slide, the ice slide is super short and bathrooms are wobbly dirty porta-potty. Now back to what I first wrote - at least the kids had a good time - and I guess for that it was nice.

Yelp
I don't think I'd come back again. The prices were way too high for what we got, and I think you could get nicer snow pics elsewhere. The ice castles are pretty and all, but the parking lot was super muddy and if you're coming here post-snow, it's quite hard to trek from the parking lot to the ice castle. Lots of nice photo spots, make sure to come here with a good photographer though!

Yelp
I like to rate this a 4.5. We booked this last minute even with a 4 hour drive, it's a good move as this hasn't been the best winter for this event. It opened late, has had to close a few days due to warm unseasonal weather and often makes closure decisions with only 24 hour notice, a problem if hotel is not flexible ! Though I had a choice , we booked at 7 pm and really enjoyed this as a nighttime light adventure. I agree booking right before sunset is ideal if you'd like to have daylight and nighttime experience. There was a line of traffic to get it; plan for this. By 7 pm, you're directed to a row of parked cars with open spaces. A little Willy nilly but it works out. Lot can be muddy. Our evening was on the warm side but I'd still suggest good warm boots, mittens sand hat/ earmuffs. While your entry is timed, you may stay and wander as long as you like. Tubing was closed. The new outdoor bar area while pricey really was done quite nicely and seemed very popular. Lots of high tops, several fire pits , night lighting and an igloo " bar" to order from. We really enjoyed ice castles. It's something new to try and it's an awesome vision. Our plan worked perfectly booking last minute, I'm not sure that's always possible ticket wise ( we booked Super Bowl evening) Remembering its weather based, keep that in mind when booking an hotel without a flexible cancelation plan!

Yelp
Ice Castles was a magical place to bring the family. In our group we had with us a baby, and 4 children ranging from 3 years to 11. They all had a blast. The lines for the slides and tubes were relatively short. Maybe a 10 minute wait. The kiddie slides had zero wait time. And towards the end of our visit we let the kids have at it and they must have went through the kiddie slides about 30 times in a row. My favorite part was the walk through the woods. Very breathtaking! We didn't get to do the sleigh ride. The sign said sold out. But there was only 4 people riding on it. It could have been that someone ordered online e and didn't show up for it. I thought it was worth the $25/ per adult price.
google avatar

Carrie R.

Yelp
The ice castles were nice. The castles were pretty, especially with the lights, The sleigh ride was relaxing and charming but a lot shorter than I'd expected for $20 per person (apple orchards and zoos have free or low cost pulled wagon rides that cover most of the property and include sightseeing). The walking light trial was so beautiful and a true bonus, even with concession and ice sculptures at the end. My girls got very excited and were entertained by the tunnels on the back side of the castle. I would have liked the girls to get to go tubing on the small hill but it was closed for no apparent reason on a cold weekend day. It was a little more driving from the Boston area than time it takes to see the whole place but with a dinner stop it was near perfect. Driving in the snow squalls on the way back wasn't my favorite but added to the adventure.

Yelp
The castles have improved over the years and this year was definitely an incredible experience! The sights and experience were unique and well worth the visit. NH has some beautiful sights and this ranks up there with the rest of them. The slide, bar, snack shack and beverage options all make this a family friendly experience. They also offer sleigh rides and tubing for kids. 100% will visit again!

Yelp
A new adventure! A ice wonderland! From the ice castle itself ! To the walk trail , I loved the Horse riding it was something from my early childhood! The ambiance was great ! Definitely a family spot ! Loved the mountains ! I tried a hot chocolate and it was a 10 ! I would recommend this place take a walk on the wild side in the Walk Trial ! Is worth the drive ! You'll love it !

Dave D.

Yelp
Over priced to look at ice you can see driving on a highway. Do not recommend the long drive for something so small place.

Don P.

Yelp
Mud Filled Hellscape If you value your car avoids this location at all costs. The parking lot is unpaved and full of 6+" mud. Almost every car including mine bottomed out several times. Imagine a parking lot full of a chocolate Wendy's Frosty. There are also horses being led through it, so there's probably a good amount of horse manure mixed in with that mud.

Joy D.

Yelp
It's basically a tourist trap. Not even worth the prices there and the sleigh ride was so boring and had nothing to show for the kids. We've seen snow and ice before. What is so special about this place? Tubing was also closed so it was kind of a rip off.

Timothy D.

Yelp
This place is definitely overrated! There is really nothing to do. The ice melting is cool to look at, but other than that just a waste of time & money!

Jennifer L.

Yelp
Very pricey for what it was. Paid $25 a person for a "sleigh ride" (two horses pulling a trailer and it stunk of manure). This was an additional charge on top of our tickets to enter. It was extremely crowded and hard to walk around or see much since there were so many people. Definitely won't be returning. Only reason I have two stars is because the staff are friendly and the castles are pretty.
google avatar

Andy L.

Yelp
Drove about two hours each way in search for the Instagram-famous Ice Castle. Upon arrival, I came to realize that the Ice Castle wasn't actually a castle. It was more so ice walls which was still something else to look at. When my girlfriend and I got there, we were guided to our parking spots and saw that there was already a line of people waiting to get their tickets scanned. The wait wasn't too long and once we were able to walk around the premises of the Ice Castle, we were pretty amazed at how beautiful it was. We got there around 6 which I would say is the perfect time to go because it was right before sunset so we got to experience both the natural daylight between the ice walls and the colored lights that they turn on inside the ice walls when it got dark. This place is definitely worth checking out if you want to take some incredible pictures with your family or SO.

Yelp
I have always wanted to go to this but never had the chance. This time I got tickets as soon as they went on sale. I went on a weekend during the day. It really is two completely different experiences to go daytime or nighttime but from the pictures both make for magnificent shots. It was pretty cold when I went 10 degrees in the sun, so I imagine it can be much colder at night. There is a short lighted walkway which I am sure looks spectacular at night, but during the day you can notice all the cute little birdhouses on the trees. I also enjoyed the short ice slide. There is a smaller one for the little kids. With regards to the pandemic, masks were required and used, and social distancing was maintained. It seems like crowd was limited too. All in all, it was a pretty fun way to spend a couple of hours on a winter day.
google avatar

Gina T.

Yelp
Wow. Pretty cool... Our ice castle trip was amazing. Lots of pictures opportunity. Horse sled, tubing and a small hike through the snow. The tubing was free, but the horse sled was an additional $15 each person over 4 years. Yes, a mask is required for everyone. Including a small concession stand that served hot chocolate, water, cinnamon rolls, and cookies. I believe food and drinks were all five dollars each. The ice sculptures were well done. Bring your snow gear and shoes for the mud. They have porto potties for your convenience.
google avatar

Yelp
Purchased tickets for Valentine's Day, and received an email saying that they would be closed due to warm weather and that tickets would be refunded. I then received a email asking if I had fun at my visit and was confused so I emailed help desk and they have no person to speak to they said they refused to offer a refund or let me go another day because they were not actually closed that day and it's in there policy so I was supposed to check to see if they reopened after being told I was getting a refund? Terrible customer service I'm going to let everyone know if the experience I had here and let them know to stay away! $120 down the drain and not even one person to explain why they sent an email saying early closure ?

Yelp
I finally made my way to the Ice Castles yesterday for a date with my boyfriend. It was a 2 1/2 hour drive to the castles from Boston, but most of the ride through New Hampshire is on empty stretches of highway with little to no traffic. The Ice Castle itself was spectacular. I was a little surprised to see that rather than being a building made of ice, it's more like walls of ice separating different areas. We were able to get many lovely pictures and the employees are very willing to help you capture memories with your family and friends. I would suggest buying tickets that allow you to get in right before sunset so you can experience the natural beauty of the ice as well as the color-changing lights within the ice walls at night. The place was a lot smaller than I expected, but there's a lot to do including taking pictures in terraces, ice chairs, a color-changing ice slide, and a fountain! It should be noted that you are strongly advised to buy tickets to the Ice Castles beforehand. These tickets have a timed entry, but you can stay as long as you like. If you don't buy tickets online, there are a limited number of standby tickets that are more expensive.
google avatar

Diane J.

Yelp
So much smaller in real life than it looks on the website. It was not worth the money and the long drive. We went through the "castle" in five minutes. Super crowded with people taking pictures. The forest walk was nice although also only took five minutes. Would not recommend this diversion - go skiing or sledding or ice skating or anything else instead.
google avatar

Taz H.

Yelp
Great time even during the super cool temperatures! Try to get tickets during the evening hours when the ice Castles are lit up. There was plenty of room to walk around and take photos. My 2 year old had a blast! You can get photos taken at the entrance and it's 30 dollars to purchase. The Ice Castles and forest walk were beautiful. We stayed about an hour since we didn't do the slides and tubing. The parking and ticket entry was very organized and the staff were very kind and helpful.
google avatar

Sheba W.

Yelp
Went here with my wife and I must say it was beautiful! I would first start off by saying please dress appropriately to this place because it is definitely extremely cold! Dress in warm clothing, layering would be ideal. They have a whole area where you can ride down an ice slide. There are several tunnels where you can have beautiful views. I thought it was a impressive how they sculpted this place. If you need something to warm your insides they have hot coco to purchase. This is a place you have to go and see. Words does not describe it
google avatar

liz V.

Yelp
Scam castle. Do not drive far to come here. They will close on you last minute with no notice. By the looks of other comments they also refuse communication and giving refunds. Wish me luck lol

Greg L.

Yelp
We drove into a parking lot with 3 inches of mud and limited spots to stand in line for 40 minutes just to get in, even though we had pre-purchased our tickets for a specific time. After the 40 minute wait at the entrance we then waited another 40 minutes in line for the sleigh ride, which we also pre-paid. When we got close to the front of the line they shut the ride down for an hour break. We were not able to wait for an hour until it opened again and they will not refund our money. This place is a complete waste of time and money. They sell too many tickets, the castles are something my son could create in our back yard, and the entire outfit is completely unorganized. Buyer beware!!!

Anne C.

Yelp
Big money grab. Don't bother. Parking lot is literally 6" of mud. Wrecked my boots and got the car filthy. I didn't believe the other reviews but it's true. The sleigh ride is not worth the price - it's the same as walking through their "enchanted forest " Speaking of the walk through the forest- besides a couple of cool ice sculptures, the lights looked like every kid working there was told to bring any old Christmas lights they could find and drape them across the trees. Totally Random with no thought put onto it. Little kids- like 6 and under had fun on the tiny ice slide. Best part of the trip was on the ride home stopping at the Red Arrow Diner in Manchester!

Yelp
I've been wanting to visit one of the Ice Castle locations for over a year now, so I was super glad that I took a work assignment near the New Hampshire location. It's definitely worth the price just for the photo ops alone. The Ice Castles really do appear as magical in person as they do in the photos and videos that you see online. I went during the day, but I would love to return in the evening when the castles are lit up by LED lights. For the Ice Castle Admission & a Sleigh Ride ticket, it was about $53/person for the 2023 season. If I came back during the day, I'd probably skip out on the sleigh ride, but I feel like it'd be a little more magical at night with all of the lights that they have set up throughout the woods. I came on a day where it was a little warmer, so some of the ice/snow was melting, but it was fine. The snow tubing is definitely more for the kiddos (the tubing hills are mini and kind of flat.) My 2 adult friends and I were actually looking forward to the snow tubing, but once we saw the set up, we realized it was probably best that we skip on that for fear of complete disaster. Parking is ample and included with admission. Just be prepared to get yourselves and your car all muddy in the parking lot. The Ice Castles are a limited time event, and I think they're definitely worth it! I'll be back!

Yelp
Wear 10 layers, throw on your snow boots, and you'll love Ice Castles. You'll wonder where that chic from Frozen is hiding (clue: in the giant igloo!), and you'll spend the next hour taking 1000 photos and sliding down massive slides made of solid blocks of ice. I've never enjoyed the cold temps so much! It's my second year visiting -- first time was during the daytime, this last visit was at night. By far, the visit at night is far cooler, with everything lit up and the night sky lit with stars. Your inner kid is pretty much ready to throw snowballs and crawl around in the snow like a 5 year old, but don't worry - no judgement. This place is kid and adult friendly so roll around in the snow and ice all you want, and nobody will blink an eye.

Yelp
The ice castles isn't just an okay experience. It's amazing, but also TINY. You'd take a loop or two and be done. It's GORGEOUS, such a beautiful white-blue especially against the sky on a good day. It's breathtaking to see and if you read about how it is built and why the icicles don't fall off and why the ice is blue, you will be even more impressed seeing it in person. I didn't visit when the ice princess was working, nor did I visit at night where there are fire shows. But the science behind the ice castles kept me excited and feeling blissed while I was there. There's a line that moves not too slowly for "sledding" down tunnels made of ice. And they go f a s t, but it's only 75 feet which means seconds of a ride. I heard it's super fun and the best part of the castles, but I didn't try because I got a piercing the day before. Nonetheless, it is c o l d! Wear your winter boots, bring gloves and bundle up! Oh you probably want to bring shades. I didn't and the ice was beautiful but so bright. I think you can warm up in the gift shop and go back out for fun afterwards (there's literally close to nothing in the gift shop that you'd want to buy). I'd recommend booking your time slot closer to sunset to see both the day and night view of the ice castles to make your $18 ticket more worth it. Overall I think it's an one-time experience that I think people should check out. My friends and I drove up from Boston (two hours) to see it and I think it was worth it to see once.

Yelp
Very pretty, if you're from more than 1.5-2 hours away I wouldn't say it's worth it. Only would do this with kids, adults finish this really quickly

Yelp
Not impressed, they don't show any pictures because if they did you wouldn't waste your time. Tubing is closed most the time. And they shut sleigh rides down before they are supposed to. Overpriced too

Yelp
We went during the day so maybe it's better at night? The best way I can describe them would be "meh" ice slides were closed so the kids did not get to try that out and the tubing hill is pretty small. The pics we saw online made it look much better than we saw in person.

Yelp
This place is amazing and MAGICAL!!!! Well worth the trip to see it! I would say we spent about 45 minutes exploring all the areas and taking tons of videos and pictures!! They have music playing & the ice structures are very well illuminated and are constantly changing colors, so there are MANY different photo ops... There is an ice slide and many "caves" to explore. I will say the ground can be very slick and your feet will get very wet, so be sure to wear proper footwear and I also advise purchasing your ticket online and I suggest buying an evening ticket. The illuminations are lovely and I don't think it would be as stunning in daylight. Ticket price is more than fair, however the $30.00 they wanted for the picture they took of us before we entered was ridiculous. They would probably sell more if the price was lower.

Yelp
Giving 4 stars since staff was kind enough to let us in even though we were late. I was very excited about coming here, but after a 3 hr drive (traffic and such) we probably spent 20 minutes here. Walked around the area and it seems it's mostly for kids. There is a line for sledding, but there were no more sleds when it was our turn. They should add a skating area. Or, even though I don't like drinking, have an Ice Bar and warm food. They do have a small bakery though (very small).

Yelp
This place is so fun. Went in March 2022 and had such a fun time. The lights walk it's very well done. The ice sculptures are amazing at night lit up. We also enjoyed the ice slide and tube run.

Yelp
Not worth your time! Don't even bother making a trip here. I went here with some friends and my sister since she won tickets through their Instagram contest. Thankfully we didn't have to pay for these tickets which I think would have been $74 for four of us together. So crazy that they would charge so much. When thinking "ice castle" I'm expecting that the walls would be higher and grander than it was. My friend literally called it an " ice yard." Not sure if there was melting or if the walls were higher before we came, but it was less than impressive. Plus the odd part was their ice "princesses." They looked like imposter Disney princesses (Elsa, Anna and Belle), by can't name them after their names probably because of Disney's copyright to their names. I get the Frozen characters, but Belle is kinda random to be honest. The gift shop was terrible with lots of overpriced items. They got your usual t-shirts, magnets and booklets, but not worth your money. Not to mention the terrible attitude that red beard at the counter yelled at my fiancé and I for no reason. One and done, never again!

Yelp
I first visited ice castles in NH a few years ago when they just started, was in a more secluded location and way less well known. Back then I was able to just walk in and get tickets on the spot for entry at night and practically had the entire place to ourselves. There were a handful of larger than life ice structures that looked cool with the lights, but did not really resembling a castle and looked more like small ice caverns spread throughout the forest. It was a smaller than expected, but everyone still had fun. This year I decided to try my luck at entering one of their contests through social media to win a set of tickets. I won and was emailed two codes that each could be used to reserve two free tickets online. The reservation process went smoothly. Popularity went up a lot since entry at the night time slots were sold out a week in advance, so we visited during the afternoon. I heard that day of tickets were hard to get, especially on weekends. The location is convenient since it is right off of the interstate at hobo railroad where it looks like they give scenic train rides in the warmer months. Parking was self parking and free. There was a line of port a potties outside, but it was better to go to the indoor bathrooms in the station that you can access after ticket pickup. Ticket pickup was well organized. There were separate lines that were arranged according to the time slot. After signing a waiver that we said would not break any of the ice structures we went into the area to access the castle. No wristbands or paper tickets were given so once you exit the area you can't go back in. You can stay inside as long as you want. The ice castle itself reminded me of visiting the ruins of a castle: the exterior walls were still erect, but there were limited areas that were still enclosed. Using this definition it was a castle, but it did not live up to peoples' expectations of seeing a fully enclosed ice building. Nonetheless, there were still some enjoyable parts. The big slide was fun where you sit on an oversized thin plastic cutting board and go down a ice tunnel. The wait was about 15 minutes when I went. If you look closely enough you can find some smaller slides spread throughout that were equally as fun, but just did not last as long. If you want to go on these smaller slides wear some waterproof pants since there were no plastic sheets to sit on to use them. The dancing fountain was fun to watch for a bit too. Most of the staff seemed to be cooperative except for a security guard watching the exit door. I saw him yelling at some people who looked lost. He could have accomplished the same thing in a more friendly manner. Ice castles did improve from the beginning years, but there is still lots of room for improvement. It is a big feat to maintain these giant ice structures for a few months, but they will never meet the expectations of the public that expect a good amount of enclosed rooms made of ice walls. Hoping to see them grow in the future.

Yelp
I had so much fun here! It was well organized and beautiful. It was very crowded and I'd have loved sliiiightly less people but I get that it's a popular event and a lot of people want to go. The ice castles are huge and super pretty, and the lights they have to make them change colors are fun. They've got two slides, fountains, and different ice sculptures around the area. They also have a stand with hot chocolate and food. I'd absolutely return in the future!
