We recently stayed at the wonderful Ice House spa hotel in Ballina, Co. Mayo celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. From start to finish, the experience was nothing short of exceptional. ||The staff were warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive. Our room was spacious, spotless, and over looking the river Moy.||The spa facilities were a real highlight. From the tranquil atmosphere to the skilled therapists.| |Dining at the hotel was also a delight. The food was fresh, locally sourced, and full of flavour. Breakfast set the tone for the day, with plenty of choice.| We left feeling rejuvenated and already looking forward to our next visit.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the beautiful Ice House in Ballina. From the moment we arrived, the service was exceptional. Matthew, went above and beyond to ensure our stay was nothing short of perfect. His friendly personality made us feel right at home. The rooms were stunning, and the spa treatments were incredibly relaxing. Dinner was also a highlight, with delicious food and impeccable service. What truly made our stay special, however, was Matthew's attention to detail and genuine care. He ensured that every aspect of our stay, from booking to checkout, was seamless and enjoyable. The combination of beautiful surroundings, excellent service, and Matthew's exceptional hospitality makes it a truly special place."

a great stay in the Icehouse but too short! |hotel is extremely clean and welcoming. room was very spacious, well equipped and comfortable. as far as i know, all rooms have wonderful view overlooking the river and lets you feel very much in the countryside. as a spa hotel, supplied lovely robes and slippers and not looked at (too) strangely if just wander around in those. |great breakfast with plenty of hot / cold choice. we also had dinner and again was delicious with good choice. perhaps a touch pricey but given service and surroundings still good value. |the spa is a must visit even if you are short on time (as we were) and can only use the myriad of spa facilities (outdoor hot tub and baths, ice bath, steam room, sauna, relax rooms, tropical showers etc). all clean, fresh and several with views again overlooking the river. |we booked a little last minute so was a little more expensive but overall still great value.

Fab visit, loved the hotel. We stayed for one night in one of the River Suites. This was just by the Spa. We had a private balcony which overlooked the river just off the bedroom. The bed was amazing and had such a lovely night sleep. We used the Spa while we were there and it was amazing. Outdoor hot tub was a great touch and loved the views from it. Food was really good, we ate in the bar for dinner and had a few cocktails which we both really enjoyed. We also had breakfast the next day which was table service for the hot food which I love as less stress of having to get all your food. There was a help yourself element for cereal and toast etc while you waited for your hot food. I would recommend this hotel completely, having stayed in several 4 and 5 star hotels across Ireland this is definitely one of the top of these. Amazing stay.

Spa was beautiful, the outside tubs/and relaxation rooms are unique. A must visit to experience, never experienced a thermal experience like it. The bedoom was basic, no wow factor, a little drab despite the views. Coffee machine was awkward to use/ filling up the water tank. Chocolates had a taste on them, might be stored next to the laundry things/soap. We had afternoon tea, priced at 35 euros, which is the same as lough eske in Donegal, so that's what we compared it to. It did not really live up to it. Scones were tiny, the cream was just whipped, not clotted, and the cucumber sandwiches had hard edges, they were not made up freshly at the time. There was also 3 hairs/fibres on the crockery/ plate/ butter dish. It was painful on check out to have to pay our extra invoice on our bar meal when it was also basic. Chicken goujons did not have a nice crispy crumb, and tasted no sesame as stated on the menu. Needs refinement and small details are overlooked.

We stayed at The Ice Hotel in July for my partner’s 30th birthday and had a really lovely time. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Dinner and breakfast were both delicious, and the spa was a real highlight – relaxing treatments and a great thermal suite.||A special touch was the dessert plate and birthday note left in our room – such a thoughtful surprise. The spa team also kindly offered us a later check-out so we could make the most of our time in the thermal suite.||Our room was clean and comfortable with a lovely view. Overall, it was a great stay and we’d definitely return.

We got engaged at the end of June and booked a night in the Ice House Hotel. Prior to arriving I got a personalised phone call from Deidre who took the time to ensure the room was prepared with any additional touches required. We are still talking about it! Breathtaking views through floor to ceiling windows on the first floor, the most amazing spa and quality Irish hospitality. The room was large, a comfortable gorgeous bed and spacious bathroom. Breakfast cooked to order in the morning is always a sign of class. Just one question- is there a loyalty program???||Will definitely be frequent visitors of this beautiful hotel

Yelp
I would highly recommend the ice house! We did a little day trip here and it was fabulous. Soo relaxing. We did two different versions of the baths overlooking the river. It was a warm, spectacular day. We also enjoyed the high tea. This is a perfect spot for a couples day like we did or even a girls spa day. Definitely check out this gem in Mayo!

Yelp
We enjoyed a delicious dinner at this restaurant. Started with duo of salmon and sticky sweet & sour sesame prawns. The pork belly and neck were well cooked and good portion size. The baked hake supreme & seared scallops were fresh and had a nice presentation. The Sriracha cheese fries was better than expected. Enjoyed the scenic view with a great dinner.

Yelp
The Ice House Hotel used to be the Ice House, where boats would pull in and load up their ice for use in Ballina. There is a huge stone wall where the restaurant is so you can see the building that it used to be. It's been transformed now into a great boutique hotel. The rooms are super funky and specced up to the max with i-pod docks and fabulous bathrooms. They also have some special old-school rooms that are in the original part of the building. These are pretty special too. Ask to be shown around, they don't mind. The bar is cool and trendy and the restaurant is great. Good food and a brilliant setting sitting right on the water. There's also a spa with a hot tub outside too. If you're in the locality stop in for a drink or a bite to eat. If you're looking for a special weekend away book a room.

Yelp
The interior design is nice and there is a lot which captures the eye and the views are lovely but the food was fairly bland. I had prawns for a starter, fajita for the main and a brownie for dessert. The sauces with the prawns added very little to the flavour. I had to put the fajita together myself and I really don't like it when restaurants make you do that. It was all just a bit boring and the choice on the menu wasn't very good. Some of the plates that the food was presented on were nice though. The waitress that served us didn't know much about the food or wine either but she did go to the bar to ask for a wine suggestion which was nice.

Yelp
Yet another reason to look at you refrigerator in awe. If not for such an appliance this building would still be an ice house, rather than an uber cool hotel. Situated on the banks of the river Moy the building's rooms offer stunning views which the design only accentuates. Our room, which over looked the river, had one wall of pure glass making it almost feel as if you were outside. Waking up each morning and hearing the water flow by was something I could never get tired of. The fact that the tide affected the water level also made it a constantly changing landscape with an interesting array of wildlife to boot. The hotel has both a bar and restaurant; however, I recommend the bar food more highly. Don't get me wrong, it was all delicious, it's just that the bar food was much cheaper while still being of an equally high quality. Another really cool aspect was that breakfast-in-bed was complementary. This means you have no excuse not to get it delivered even though the buffet is still available. The staff were also great and, as is the norm here, we were even given some champagne on check-in to celebrate our arrival. The room was amazing and I really loved my stay here. I totally recommend it but a few little niggly things mean I can't give it the full five stars. Our room had an apple media system which wasn't hooked up, and the TV didn't have all the channels advertised. Still, excellent hotel and I highly recommend.

Yelp
Ended up going back again, and this is definitely a case of knowing what to order. This time, my started was the smoked haddock with gruyere, served in a little crock with browned bread crumbs and a sort of creamy sauce. Very very good flavor, and I like the strong cheese taste with the haddock. My entree was the monkfish, which was a slight upcharge, but it well worth it. Really nice, meaty, flavorful monkfish, with tasty mussels, gnocci, and wilted spinach and tomato, all in a sort os saffron broth. Very good, although the gnocci, while tasty, were pan browned a little too much for my taste. I'd prefer not to have that much pan grill flavor, but the middles were extremely tender and they tasted quite good. I should also mention that they might want to do something about their credit card readers. Both evenings when I went, their reader refused to communicate with their base station. We thought it was maybe my stupid swipe-only credit card, but even a local chip and pin card wouldn't go through. So...if it's not just me...but instead all patrons using a card in the main dining room...do they not have this problem with every single check they attempt to settle? Just seemed odd. Credit card difficulties aside, this is an upgrade based on the food the second time around - they're running a cool place with pretty good food, you just need to pick a little wisely.

Yelp
Calm sophisticated atmosphere. The ice house offers fine cuisine and tasty cocktails as well as other drinks! Quick friendly service, with a great view over the river. A bit pricey, good for a stylish night out. I recommend the flirtinie

Yelp
A fantastic charming place that integrates real Irish culture with a charming modern flare. The staff were kind and very approachable. The spa treatment was fantastic and highly recommend this gem.

Yelp
Stayed in the ice house for 2nights early November had got a voucher as a present and was really looking forward to our stay . On arrival we were looking for a car park there was none you park on the side of the road a distance from the hotel .we eventually arrived at reception to check in we were given our room name and told a few things about the hotel at no time were we offered help with our luggage This would have been a help given that our car was a distance away . The room was nice and comfortable but was in need of a touch up marks on the walls etc we decided to visit the spa did not impress was a while waiting for a staff member to show us where the areas were she left us standing and went to deal with a complaint from another guest eventually returned and showed us where each area was .we found the outdoor hot tubs and the ares around them shabby and also the sauna overcrowded . We had booked dinner which was nice but the menus had supplements on a number of the items staff weren't over helpful here never topped up our wine or water just did the basics breakfast was good and staff on the breakfast were helpful and friendly not like the people on the restaurant the previous evening I noticed on the brochure that we would get a glass of bubbly on arrival this was never mentioned or offered .on departure again no help with luggage .overall this hotel is overrated and overpriced not five star or four star The staff are not overly helpful would. Not recommend
