Ended up going back again, and this is definitely a case of knowing what to order. This time, my started was the smoked haddock with gruyere, served in a little crock with browned bread crumbs and a sort of creamy sauce. Very very good flavor, and I like the strong cheese taste with the haddock. My entree was the monkfish, which was a slight upcharge, but it well worth it. Really nice, meaty, flavorful monkfish, with tasty mussels, gnocci, and wilted spinach and tomato, all in a sort os saffron broth. Very good, although the gnocci, while tasty, were pan browned a little too much for my taste. I'd prefer not to have that much pan grill flavor, but the middles were extremely tender and they tasted quite good.
I should also mention that they might want to do something about their credit card readers. Both evenings when I went, their reader refused to communicate with their base station. We thought it was maybe my stupid swipe-only credit card, but even a local chip and pin card wouldn't go through. So...if it's not just me...but instead all patrons using a card in the main dining room...do they not have this problem with every single check they attempt to settle? Just seemed odd.
Credit card difficulties aside, this is an upgrade based on the food the second time around - they're running a cool place with pretty good food, you just need to pick a little wisely.
