7 Best Hotels in Reykjavik, Iceland (2025) | Condé Nast Traveler

"Made up of seven rebuilt and new buildings totalling 163 rooms, this landmark hotel restores the old Landsímahúsið and revamps the former Iceland Telecom HQ into the buzzy Telebar, displays pieces from the country’s largest art collection, houses Hjá Jóni restaurant (facing a statue of Jón Sigurdsson and serving Icelandic dishes with international tweaks), and offers a spa with geothermal hot tubs, sauna, steams, and traditional Icelandic baths for relaxation." - Becky Lucas

A Review of Iceland Parliament Hotel | Hotels Above Par

"Right on Austurvöllur Square, directly across from Parliament and a short walk from Reykjavík Cathedral, the hotel blends into the block so well you could assume it’s been there for decades. I found it quietly part of the neighborhood despite being in Hilton’s Curio Collection; the property stitches together seven distinct buildings — one a girls’ school, another the old telecom offices — with the main Landsímahúsið retaining original stonework paired with modern glass additions that don’t clash. Inside, original architecture takes center stage and interiors favor natural materials — warm wood, polished stone, and dark metal — while an extensive private art collection fills stairwells, elevators, and entire hallways, actually shaping how you move through the space. Guest rooms feel considered and cozy: wood and soft fabrics, a gently curved headboard that wraps the bed, blackout curtains, a custom nook with an espresso machine, and a solid oak desk; from my window the square felt like a still frame as snow gathered on Jón Sigurðsson’s statue. The subterranean spa is the hotel’s standout — minimal, silent, and unexpectedly luxurious with a geothermal pool that feels almost fairy-tale — and the adjacent lounge and 24/7 gym (with big windows and solid Technogym equipment) round out a polished stay that still feels very much of the city." - Jordi Lippe-McGraw

Great location! This hotel is central and within walking distance to many key points of interest. The room was spacious and beds were very comfortable after a day of exploring. Great feature here is the geothermal spa located right on the premises! Breakfast buffet was a key feature also to start our days with plenty of fresh buffet options and made-to-order items. I loved the history of the building as well as the contemporary art work that guests can explore. This is an art lover's dream!

The Hotel is absolutely Gorgeous, and the rooms are decorated with chic and elegance. The breakfast buffet is a must-go (I higly recommand the vegetable gyozas), but the prices of the restaurant are astounding. It was very disapointing that the spa wasn't free for hotel guests. The location is just perfect, you can walk everywhere in Reykjavik and the rooms are very quiet. The Bed was very comfy, it was the only one out of the 5 hotels we did that actually had a king size bed with one blanket, and not two single beds stuck together with two separate blankets. The hair products in the shower are amazing and it is worth noting because before that all the hotel provided shampoo made my hair extremely dry and rough.

Lovely, excellent hotel in Reykjavik, Iceland. The rooms are spacious for European standards. It was impeccably clean. The staff is fairly friendly. The only thing missing is they should really get smart TVs in their rooms like every other Hilton around the world. Other than that, no complaints. The location is terrific! And it's close to so many things. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel in Reykjavik Iceland.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Iceland Parliament Hotel. The central city location is perfect, and the modern yet elegant interior immediately makes the hotel feel special. Breakfast was excellent. The buffet had a great selection, and the large made-to-order menu really elevated the experience and made mornings feel relaxed and indulgent. The bar deserves a mention as well, with a wide and well-curated drinks selection that made it a great spot to unwind in the evenings. The lobby is beautiful, spacious, and luxurious, and the interior design carries through wonderfully into the rooms and even the elevators. Everything feels thoughtfully designed and high-end without being overdone. I especially loved the residents’ lounge. It was elegant, very quiet, and never crowded, which made it a perfect place to unwind and relax. A bit more variety in snacks would make it even better, but the space itself is excellent. The spa was a real highlight. The 38C pool is amazing to sink into and swim in, and the relaxation rooms, sauna, cold shower room, and misty room were all beautifully done and incredibly calming. Housekeeping and room service were excellent throughout my stay. The bed was very comfortable, and the room amenities were high quality and well maintained. Finally, the Hilton Diamond perks were outstanding. The staff printing a clear letter outlining all the benefits was very much appreciated. The perks included afternoon social hour drinks, access to the executive lounge, free spa access, and breakfast, which really added a lot of value to the stay. An exceptional experience overall. This would absolutely be my goto hotel in Reykjavík, and I would happily return.

We stayed for 5 nights at the Iceland Parliament Hotel, in a Junior Suite, as a trip to celebrate my husband's milestone birthday. The hotel has a lot to recommend it and we had a very enjoyable stay overall.||The location is excellent - very central for the downtown Reyjavik area and easy walking distance to the harbour, to landmark tourist attractions such as the Hallgrimskirkja, and to a huge variety of shops, bars and restaurants. Also very central for the numbered bus stops where organised tours pick up and drop off - the hotel is very easy walking distance from stops 1, 2 and 3.||It's a beautiful hotel and the junior suite we booked was a lovely room, with lots of space, a large bed, a nice sitting area and a large and well-appointed ensuite. The staff were friendly and helpful at every interaction and were kind enough to leave a complimentary selection of petit fours and a card wishing my husband a happy birthday in our room on our arrival. The breakfasts in the on-site restaurant were excellent - an expansive cold buffet selection, a smaller hot buffet offering (basically sausages, scrambled eggs and beans) and a very nice a la carte offering included, with the a la carte menu including omelettes, pancakes, eggs benedict, congee, vegetable gyoza etc. The spa facilities (access included when booking a junior suite) were very enjoyable and relaxing (but the spa floors are VERY slippery when exiting the hot pool or rain mist room - I nearly fell a couple of times and my husband did slip and fall).||Our only real issues with our stay were:||A minor niggle but in our corner junior suite (room 340) the clear glass top windows of the ensuite bathroom were overlooked by the upper floors of a nearby building... which felt very exposed when e.g. getting in and out of the shower!||The noise. The majority of our stay was relaxed and peaceful but our final night was a Saturday night and we had an early flight out with a taxi pick-up at 4:30am. And the American Bar, right beside the hotel on the adjoining corner of the square, had music blasting - and guests chatting and shouting and laughing in the outside seating area - until 4am! The noise was inescapable in our bedroom and ensuite and really made getting any sleep difficult. When I stepped outside after checking out shortly before 4am the noise was astonishing - it echoed and reverberated off the buildings surrounding the square and was horribly loud. We did mention the noise to the receptionist when we checked out and she basically shrugged and said it's weekend in downtown Reyjavik and said that if we had mentioned it to reception earlier they could have moved us to a different room or offered earplugs - not really a logistical option when he had to have alarms set for an early wake-up.||Other than that our stay was very enjoyable. The hotel has a lot to recommend it - just be wary if your stay extends over a weekend and you are in a room facing onto the square!

Stayed 7 days at the hotel. Location is perfect, as long as you don't have a car. Surprisingly, as rates are rather high, there was a complete lack of hospitality sense among staff. The turnaround of rooms is constant, so people often forget about service details. There is no dedicated concierge desk, you rely on the busy front desk staff regarding help. Our worst experience was in the open lobby bar, where we encountered a cold, blonde young lady finally taking our drink order. For some reason, she insisted bringing us the bill immediately after serving our wines. I even mentioned that we might order some bites off the limited bar menu but she insisted me signing the bill to my room. Meanwhile around us, other guests kept ordering without being asked to sign the bill immediately. Next, at the Spa, the attendant never greeted us nor offered assistance when we walked in. Complete silence. But the highlight was breakfast service one morning when a large American group if dancers flooded the restaurant, overwhelming the staff and ruining our experience. A large group like this needed their own, private banquet room. Whoever approved this happening should be disciplined. I've worked years at Four Seasons hotels and this would never have happened there. Even a la carte orders for this group were allowed, meaning our egg order took 30 minutes and arrived cold. Horrible. Bc if all of this, we never tried the restaurant for dinner but went out instead. In our bathroom, there was no shelf in the shower, so our personal products ended up on the floor. The mattress and linens were very good. Another observation was that we never ever saw a manager checking on things like service or asking guests about their experience. Sadly, we will not return, and we just joined the Hilton program.

This Hilton property is in a great location and is very nice with wonderful service. Check-in was fast and efficient. Great breakfast….the residents lounge was stunning (that open air terrace) and the drink at the lobby bar was a nice touch. The spa looked delightful but we didn’t have time to enjoy. I’m a Hilton Diamond and used points and supposedly was upgraded to a twin deluxe. I say supposedly as while the room itself was lovely and spacious and the beds were super comfortable, the room was dark with only a minuscule window that opened and we looked directly into another wing of the hotel. It also was hot and very dry….even with the window open. Breakfast was plentiful. The hotel staff was uniformly friendly and helpful. The hotel is located a short walk from several of the Flybus stops.

Beautiful hotel and excellent location (I had a view of the main square and parliament building). The staff was very helpful, professional and friendly. Food in the restaurant was superb with selected dishes from the local cuisine. The Spa design has taken inspiration from Icelandic nature in both colours, materials and textures, and is a fantastic addition to the experience with thermal pool, steam room, sauna, cold mist/rain and cosy relaxation areas. Would highly recommend choosing this hotel when visiting Reykjavik, or using it as a base when exploring further around.
