Unforgettable Experience at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge!||||Staying at Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge was simply wonderful—one of the best moments of our trip! The location is perfect: nestled in nature and just minutes from the entrance to Bwindi National Park, it offers breathtaking views of Uganda’s lush hills.||||The rooms are spacious, spotless, and beautifully decorated, with private balconies where you can relax, enjoy the sunset, or listen to the sounds of the forest. Comfort is top-notch, with cozy beds and hot water always available.||||The staff is extraordinary: kind, welcoming, always smiling, and attentive to every need. We felt truly pampered from the first to the last day. A special thanks to the team for making us feel at home—perhaps even better than home!||||The food is delicious: every meal is carefully prepared with fresh ingredients and authentic flavors. Breakfast, served with a panoramic view, was one of our favorite moments of the day.||||A place that perfectly combines comfort, human warmth, and wild nature. After meeting the gorillas, coming back to Ichumbi felt like returning to a peaceful haven.||||Heartfelt thanks to the whole team. We will carry this experience in our hearts forever. Highly recommended!

Ichumbi Gorilla Lodge has one of the best locations if you’re going gorilla trekking, it’s like a 5 min drive to the park gate. The amenities at the lodge are great, such as the restaurant, the terrace, massages, cleaning dirty hiking boots, and laundry. But what truly makes this lodge stand out is the staff - David and his team are amazing and welcoming. The women who serve the meals were lovely. On our drive back from Golden monkey trekking, our guide/driver picked up a bunch of fresh local fruit and sugarcane. The staff obliged us in cutting everything up for us and serving it. They were happy to do so and we were able to share it with some of the other guests as well. When I was looking for lodges, I spent a lot of time searching for someplace clean, beautiful, and, I’ll be honest, high end. After trekking all day long, we really wanted to go back to a comfortable room with a warm shower. While the bathrooms are still a bit rustic at Ichumbi, they do get the job done and the water was warm. Every night they left a hot water bottle in our bed, and would clean our shoes after each of our days trekking in the beautiful but muddy Ugandan forests. Oh, and how could I forget, my favorite part was returning every day from trekking and being greeted with a warm eucalyptus washcloth. So refreshing!

Unfortunately, there is a lot lacking about this hotel and I would not choose to stay here again.||The restaurant service was slow and quite poor. I had to ask several times for basic things plus our meal took a very long time to arrive. The food was average.||The rooms were clean but quite basic and the hot water was limited and difficult to work. The beds were very hard. There was no AC or a fan in the room so it was quite hot.||When we arrived the reception staff warned us there was an event and we might experience more noise. Well, they were correct. Between 11pm and 12:15 am there was loud noise coming from the lobby and front of the hotel. Cars coming and going, gates opening and closing and lots of loud voices. Even after I let the hotel staff know the noise was making it impossible to sleep it did not stop. Once the party guests left then the staff made lots of noise as they talked, then clanged and banged as clanging as they cleaned after the party. I think the design of the hotel contributed to the noise level so if you are looking for a quiet, comfortable place to sleep I don’t this is the place for it.| |Overall, there were just too many negatives things about this hotel for me to recommend it.

Ichumbi is a beautiful and luxurious lodge a stone throw away from the Bwindi gorilla park. We did not stay long but our cabin was great, the food was good and the service in typical Ugandan fashion was flawless. It is an easy recommendation to make.

Loved our stay at Ichumbi. The rooms are super clean, with great balconies looking into the trees, staff are lovely and the food is delicious. They were even able to cater for my gluten intolerance. The property itself is really close to the Rushaga gate making it easier to get there for your early morning start for your gorilla trek.

Staying at this lodge was a delight. ||The lodge is also conveniently located close to the visitor center and the Batwa Community Center, making it a great base for exploring the area.||The cozy wooden houses -each with a terrace facing the greenery- provided comfortable retreat after daily adventures. The dinners were consistently delicious, prepared by a master chef.||The customer service was excellent, with some thoughtful touches that made the stay even better. I really appreciated the complimentary washing of a few items, as well as the boot cleaning after gorilla trekking—a small but very helpful service.||||A big thanks to Joan for handling all the arrangements smoothly and to David for his personalized assistance, especially in helping with the tourist-ranger "mapping" for the gorilla trek.||If you're looking for a warm, welcoming, and well-organized lodge, I highly recommend this one!

loved this friendly lodge. Excellent location really close to gorilla trekking. Staff were amazing, boots cleaned after trekking and hotel water bottle in bed whihc was needed as nights in the mountains get chilly. Would have liked comfortable outdoor seating/beds to relax after trekking. Walking tour to Batwa Pygmy village very interesting

This mid- range and comfortable lodge provides a great base for exploring the surrounding interesting areas and particularly for Gorilla Trekking and bird watching and we really enjoyed our 4 night stay here. The rooms are comfortable and each has a balcony adjoining their neighbours. The Restaurant and Bar in the main building opens onto a large, attractive terrace and garden which gives a great place to relax and view the mountains of the forest in the distance. The indigenous flowers and trees attract many birds and al fresco dining is possible when the weather permits. The food is excellent and professionally prepared, presented and served and all the staff without exception were very friendly, attentive and helpful and enhanced our time there.
