19 Best Hotels in Málaga, Costa del Sol’s Scenic Capital | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located in Málaga’s Soho (Barrio de los Artes), this modernized colonial-style boutique hotel features Andalusian touches like a central courtyard, fountains, and large clay jars, plus eco-friendly amenities and pet-friendly policies. I noted practical extras such as online check-in, bicycle rentals, helpful city guides, and healthy breakfasts, which together create a comfortable, locally attuned stay." - Marta Sader

We stayed for 3 nights from the 20th of August in a standard double room. We were allocated room 320 on the 3rd floor. The room was nice, was clean, had a safe and mini bar which had some space to use for yourself. The bed was comfortable, but there was no dressing table area to use. They supply a refillable glass water bottle which you can fill up from the water dispenser on each floor which was really good. The only English channel on the TV was BBC world news. We had breakfast included choice for my husband was quite good, but as I am both gluten and dairy free it was more limited. No items had any allergens on them, they did supply gluten free bread and a muffin if you asked for it. I bought some dairy free yoghurts at the supermarket and kept them in the fridge in the room and took one down each day with my own gluten free granola. The main issue as others have mentioned is the noise, our room faced directly out onto the bar opposite the hotel. We would be woken up frequently by the noise, this needs to be addressed with soundproof doors/windows. The location of the hotel is excellent, and the staff were really helpful. If you can get a room on the other side of the hotel where it is quieter, then I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Currently on out last nights stay in this hotel which is very centrally located in Malaga with lots of places to eat on its doorstep and within walking distance to attractions and the port. The staff so helpful and professional. Our bedroom was pristine. We booked a room with two balcony windows perfect in warmer weather. Great selection for breakfast including the opportunity to order eggs of choice. |Highly recommended.

Great room with small balcony. Very quiet. No street noise could be heard with windows closed. Very friendly staff. Loved the water dispenser on every floor and refillable bottle in room. Nice choice of teas/coffee in room.

Poor Security. I had valuable, [400€], and important diabetes medication stolen from the hotel. They had agreed to keep it safe in a fridge. I forgot to collect it on collecting a seperate bag they had also kindly agreed to look after. I received a phone call advising me that the hotel still had the medication. I had told them it was valuable. They agreed to keep my medication safe until I was able to return to Malaga a few days later. 5 days later I went to the hotel and they were unable to find it. Apparently they had a lady arrive at the hotel saying she was me. They obviously didn't ask for any identification! She was given my goods without checking with me!. I requested a payment to replace the medication as the responsibility was clearly their's. They refused to offer any money. I will now involve the police. Very poor Security. Be careful with any valuables.

We originally booked a standard double twin room that the front desk “upgraded” to a family room on the ground floor. Said family room had one window facing a very noisy street, so we would wake up to pedestrians talking every morning around 5/6am, and no natural light since our window faced a tall building. The bathroom also had a very loud vibrating noise we couldn’t find the source of, and the top bunk of the bunk beds had a used insulin injection or some used medical device. Originally we planned on recommending this hotel to our wedding guests next summer in Malaga, but we have now removed it from our website. Truly a disappointing stay. Attaching the video of the sound from the bathroom.

The deluxe room is beautiful. Three large windows, including two balconies. Comfortable bed, thick towels and thick bathrobe. The room is decorated in warm, natural colors, cozy. No gym. Good breakfasts, local food. There are tables set up in front of the hotel, a good idea to have a coffee after breakfast. The hotel is located in the very center.

Fabulous. Top notch. This hotel is extraordinary. I stayed in their standard double room for 2 nights and superior room for 1 night. The decor of the hotel is chic and on point. Feels luxurious. The front desk staff were courteous and spoke good English. The standard room was on the smaller side, so for 2 people may be tight if staying longer than couple of days. Excellent location, 5min walk to the market, close to the tourist locations as well. The area was quiet at night even with balcony facing the street. Appreciate the attention to detail (shaving kit, dental kit, MB shampoo/shower gel, even has selection of a la cart pillows to choose from!) Overall, excellent hotel.

We stayed as a family (2 adults, 2 children) at ICON Malabar in Málaga. The family room on the 4th floor was very small for four people, with a view to the inner courtyard – quiet, but no real window to open. The hotel is modern, but the cleanliness was disappointing: dust everywhere, especially on the bunk bed and in the bathroom, and the floor was dirty. We also had an ant nest in the room coming from the housekeeping storage next door – very disgusting, but it was removed the same day. Positive: the reception staff were friendly, and the location is excellent – right in the city center, with metro and beach easy to reach, and many restaurants nearby. During our stay the carpets in the hallways were cleaned, which caused extra smell. Breakfast was okay but not 4-star level: no salmon slices, only small leftover pieces. The almond cake was the best part. Some of the breakfast staff spoke little or no English. Overall: very good location and friendly reception, but room quality and cleanliness were disappointing.
