The 20 Best Things to Do in Bangkok

"If this is your first foray into Asia, you’ll quickly learn that malls are a thing—and ICONSIAM is the mall to end them all. This luxury development in Bangkok includes eight stories showcasing 7,000 brands, more than 100 restaurants, a subterranean floating market, an IMAX theatre, SkyPark, two swish residential towers and much, much more. You could quite literally spend an entire day here. Definitely go in with a game plan. With more than eight million square feet to get lost in, it’s easy to waste precious vacation time here. Skip the brands you can find at home and target the Thai craft areas as well as the must-visit floating market (SOOKSIAM). Also, stop into Takashimaya, a famous Japanese department store, and the only one in Thailand." - Diana Hubbell, Katie Lockhart

You will need almost half of your day to cover the entire span of this mall. All the top brands of the world with regard to fashion can be found here. All high end ones. The restaurants and their ambiences look fancy. There is a water fountain show which we missed since we reached late. The view of Chao Phraya and its river cruises from the top deck, the light effects and the surrounding areas look mesmerising. Overall a very fancy mall which is good for a visit and for shopping if you are into high end, brand conscious shopping type.

ICONSIAM is more than just a shopping mall—it’s a full-scale experience, and the drone show and fireworks elevate it to an entirely different level. The mall itself is stunning, with its grand riverside architecture, luxury brands, and a wide variety of dining options overlooking the Chao Phraya River. But when the sun sets, ICONSIAM truly comes alive. The drone show is mesmerizing—hundreds of drones moving in perfect synchronization, forming intricate patterns and iconic symbols in the night sky. It feels futuristic, creative, and incredibly well-executed, capturing the attention of everyone along the riverbank. The experience reaches its peak with the fireworks display. Exploding in vibrant colors above the river, the fireworks reflect beautifully on the water, creating a magical and unforgettable atmosphere. The timing, scale, and visual impact are impressive, making it feel like a world-class celebration rather than a regular mall event. Whether you’re a tourist or a local, ICONSIAM’s drone show and fireworks are absolutely worth seeing. It’s a perfect blend of modern technology, entertainment, and scenic beauty—an iconic Bangkok experience that leaves you amazed and wanting to come back again. ✨🎆

ICONSIAM is one of the most iconic and luxurious shopping destinations in Bangkok, located beautifully along the Chao Phraya River. The mall generally opens around 10:00 AM and closes by 10:00 PM, making it easy to plan a relaxed visit. It is very large and well-planned floor wise, with the lower floors featuring the famous floating market–style food zone and local Thai brands, mid-level floors dedicated to international fashion brands, lifestyle stores, cafés, and popular attractions like the POP MART store, which is a big draw for designer toy and blind-box collectors. The upper floors house premium brands, dining options, entertainment areas, and cultural spaces, making the mall suitable for all types of visitors. One of the main highlights of ICONSIAM is the spectacular riverside fountain show, which takes place in the evening and is very enjoyable to watch, especially after sunset. The observation deck offers great views of the river and the city, adding to the overall experience. The boat side access is another unique feature, as you can easily reach ICONSIAM by river ferry, which itself feels like a sightseeing experience. With shopping, food, views, attractions, and river access all in one place, ICONSIAM is more than just a mall and is a must-visit landmark in Bangkok.

ICONSIAM is one of the most impressive places to visit in Bangkok. Located along the Chao Phraya River, it combines modern design with a strong sense of Thai culture, making it more than just a shopping mall. The atmosphere is especially beautiful in the late afternoon, when the river views and city lights create a calm and memorable setting. Inside, ICONSIAM offers an exceptional variety of shops and restaurants. From luxury international brands to local Thai boutiques, the range is wide and suitable for every type of visitor. One of the highlights is the SookSiam floor, designed like an indoor floating market. It brings together regional foods, snacks, and handicrafts from across Thailand in a comfortable, air-conditioned space. It is a great place to taste local dishes and see traditional products without leaving the mall. The mall also includes art exhibitions, cultural displays, a modern cinema, and several open spaces where visitors can relax or enjoy the riverfront. Everything is clean, organized, and thoughtfully designed. Whether you want to shop, eat, explore, or simply spend time by the water, ICONSIAM offers a complete experience. Overall, ICONSIAM is a place I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Bangkok. It blends culture, shopping, and scenery in a way that makes it enjoyable for both tourists and locals. It is definitely worth visiting at least once

Always enjoy a day there for wide variety of food and shopping. Place is spacious which is very plus point. More of high end demographic but foodcourt is still affordable for many. The open air offers such beautiful view of the river. With the largest popmart, multiple level of high quality dining to the huge food court and brands. Cinema is nice too. Highly recommended.

ICONSIAM is an amazing destination that perfectly blends shopping, culture, and great river views. It’s especially popular among young people thanks to its huge selection of food spots, fashion brands, beauty shops, and lifestyle stores. The location along the Chao Phraya River is stunning and easy to reach by shuttle boat or BTS connection. I also love the spacious outdoor areas, which make the whole place feel open, lively, and perfect for relaxing or taking photos. A must-visit spot in Bangkok, come and try!

Probably the most spectacular mall I’ve ever visited. Stunning view’s from several levels over the river, ESPECIALLY at night. So many beautiful views inside including the amazing water cascading feature, plus of corse wide collection of stunning shops from market street stalls to massive high street brand names. To enjoy the whole place allow at least 3 hours.

IconSiam: A Visitor's Perspective on Bangkok's Riverfront Gem IconSiam is, without question, one of the most remarkable malls you can visit in Thailand. It's more than just a place to shop; it feels like a destination in itself. Built right on the Chao Phraya River, the entire complex manages to perfectly combine high-end glamour with genuine Thai culture. Accessibility and Convenience One of the biggest advantages of IconSiam, especially if your accommodation is close by, is how straightforward it is to access. It avoids the labyrinthine complexity and intense congestion of some other major Bangkok shopping areas. For me, knowing it was the most accessible mall made visiting an easy choice, taking the stress out of navigating the city. Getting there via the river shuttle also adds a lovely, scenic start to the trip. The Foodie Delight of SookSiam For anyone who loves food, the SookSiam zone is probably the highlight. This area is genuinely brilliant—it's essentially a vibrant, air-conditioned market that brings together an incredible variety of street food and local products from across the country. It’s a comfortable, uncomplicated way to explore Thai cuisine. With a huge selection of cafes and food stalls, it offers a real taste of Thailand that other malls simply can't match. Shopping and Atmosphere The mall successfully caters to all kinds of shoppers. You have the impressive selection of luxury options, which are beautifully presented, sitting alongside the more casual retail sections. The atmosphere throughout the complex is grand yet inviting. Unlike some malls that feel cluttered, IconSiam maintains a clean, open, and beautiful environment, which contributes greatly to the overall pleasant shopping and browsing experience. In short, IconSiam stands out. Its beauty, the excellent range of food and luxury shopping, and its welcoming accessibility make it a top-tier destination in Bangkok.
