10 Places That Will Take You to Potato Paradise

"This museum highlights the agricultural and commercial history of potatoes. It features a giant potato sculpture and also serves as the home of the world’s largest potato chip, a 25-inches long Pringle dating from 1991.  Lay’s slogan “betcha can’t eat just one” is exemplified in this local museum filled wall-to-wall in potato paraphernalia. From the moment you step through the door (adjacent to a several-foot-long baked potato with a permanent tripod to commemorate your trip) and pay the entry fee (and receive a potato sack with a box of hash browns), you are inundated with starchy goodness. The museum offers information and entertainment for all ages, with examples of products, a build-your-own Mr. Potato Head Station, and animatronic potato people. The gift shop offers an array of cheesy potato-themed products to take home, such as shirts with Da Vinci’s Vitruvian Man replaced with a potato. Connected to the museum is a cafe serving potato products and ice cream." - ATLAS_OBSCURA

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Candy Jar is a delightful local candy shop in Blackfoot, ID! The staff is super friendly and the shop is clean and inviting. I highly recommend trying their Huckleberry ice cream—it's a must-try treat that you won't find just anywhere. Whether you're looking for delicious candies or a refreshing scoop of ice cream, Candy Jar is the perfect spot.

This is a fairly small but hugely fun museum! It's $12 to enter and has a dedicated parking lot. There's a café on one side and a gift shop on the other. In the middle is the museum. There's so much to learn from the history of the potato, to the importance to Idaho, to cool potato memorabilia. If you like anything potato related from fries to vodka you'll learn and appreciate something inside this museum.

I was visiting friends in Idaho for the first time and was asked what would I like to do. Having never been to Idaho I decided to look up top places to visit/go see and this museum was in the top 10 places to visit. Initially my friends scoffed at the idea of going (they have lived in Idaho Falls for five years and never bothered to stop by or go in) We were all impressed with the facts and figures of the famous Idaho potato presented at this small, quaint, quick museum I loved it Everything you would ever want to know about the potatoes we all love and enjoy (including the highly addictive fries at McDonald's 🍟) are presented at this museum At the end of the museum is a Cafe attached where you can order fresh potatoes in baked, fried, or tot form with all sorts of toppings or choose from their selection of the toppings of the day 😀 The museum was only $6 to visit for adults and well worth a stop Nice gift shop with cute potato inspired items/souvenirs I'm so glad we decided to take a look at this highly informative museum 😊

This is a very special museum to learn about Idaho's most famous products, potatoes. It is a small exhibition room but very informative. We were planning to have baked potatoes after the tour but they were out of it. They also have a great variety of potato souvenirs at the gift store, The ticket was $6 per person.

Google
Nice little museum to stop at if you're in the area or driving thru. We were there over an hour but that's because we got waffle fries and tots to eat. They were out of baked potatoes which was a bummer. Some neat things in the museum, the "talking" potatoes in the basement were creepy! Nice employees. $6 per adult for the museum.

This museum is great. Very informative. They have videos that teach you things like how McDonalds makes their fries. Great collection of Mr Potato head toys and a wall of potato mashers. Definitely visit the cafe while you are there. We had the loaded baked potato, tots, hand cut fries with fry sauce and the best potato soup ever!! Worth a visit if you’re in the area.

We stopped at the potato museum in Blackfoot, Idaho. This is a simple, smaller, low tech museum. It’s small town and charming, not big budget. I’m surprised it’s not larger given the impact of potatoes on the state of Idaho. Here’s what I recommend 1. Take photos of the giant potato in front of the building. There’s a smart phone holder out front so you can take photos without someone holding the phone. 2. Visit the gift shop, pay for your tickets and enjoy the kitzch (spelling?). From potato soap to quirky potato peelers, there are a lot of fun items. The t-shirts could be much more fun than they are. 3. Watch the talking potatoes in the basement that put on a little show. 4. Don’t miss the virtual reality experience. My favorite was the virtual reality ride on a 🥔 harvester. There are just 2 headsets but worth the short ride. 5. Watch the the short film about McDonald’s french fries. And see the large potato chip. 6. Admire the potato masher display that’s artistic. 7. Go to the cafe and order a potato, fries or soup. Notice the potato print curtains. Beast potato ever! You get it within 5 mins and it’s piping hot with the noise divine fluffy soft inside. The potatoes are cooked at 400-500 degrees (there was some debate). Wrapped in foil. Cooked until soft and keep in a warmer at 140 degrees. Russset narcoda is the kind of potato. Don’t poke holes in them. We got a cupcake made with potatoes. Really good. I added sour cream, green onions, butter and tomatoes. So delicious!! And the waffle fries were incredible - fresh and hot. You can get ketchup and/or fry sauce. It’s very affordable too. Both the admission ($6 for adults) and the cafe. Take lots of photos. Overall, this could have a photo backdrop with a large potato inside. Displays of largest record breaking potatos. Am interactive display. Better more recent videos about the process and better games. It could be in a larger space. But it’s affordable and down home. Also there’s a great candy shop across the street with excellent ice cream (bubble gum with gummy bears, for example).

Really enjoyed the museum, gift shop and cafe, best fries ever. Wonderful folks running the business too. Really cute town.

Yelp
I think many people know that Idaho is renowned for potatoes. They had license plates, back in the day, that said "Famous Potatoes". See... Idaho grows more potatoes than any other state and this museum is in the middle of potato country. At first, seemed a novelty, but... It has the history of potato growing, how it ended up in the US, the start and growth of both french fries and potato chips, and machines used to harvest and plant. There are play areas for kids including Mr Potato Head. There are several movies to see. The funniest is making experts in this area into comic book heroes. A couple small inaccuracies - for instance they say the first McDonald's was in Iowa. It was in Illinois. But doesn't detract from it all. They have a small cafe where you can try different potatoes. We got creative. Between the museum and cafe - we spent a little over an hour here.

Yelp
I'm a sucker for a novelty museum-and a potato museum is right up my alley! The gift shop has every type of potato-themed knick knack and t-shirt that you could ever want....and more. I bought a 70 cent pocket potato-a little plastic fella that I can carry with me for good luck. The museum is more than the gift shop, though. You can learn all about the history of potatoes, the different varieties (like Russet versus Yukon Gold) and so forth. And to keep things light hearted, there is also a table full of Mr. Potatohead toys to keep the young (or entertainment-seeking adults) occupied. It's a fun place-and well worth a spud or two.

Yelp
I found this unique little stop on my way up to Montana and so glad that I did. The museum is a modest size with a lot of information about how and why potatoes are grown in Idaho. There are a several interactive areas; including a dedicated children's area with video games, a Mr. Potato Head activity table and respective display shelf. Within the museum is a cute little gift shop and a cafe that serves up freshly baked potatoes, various toppings, soup, beverages, etc. I would say this is a must-stop attraction in Idaho. Don't forget to take a photo with the large potato out front! Ps- "Out of staters get free taters". You'll have to figure that one out on your own lol.

Yelp
Who knew there would be a museum dedicated to potatoes. This was a nice place to stop and take a break. They have a giant potato out front you can get your picture in front of. They also have the world's biggest potato crisp, which is like a Pringle chip. This museum will not blow your mind, but but if you're in the area, I would definitely check it out. They also have a restaurant that has lots of potato options.

Yelp
Woohoo, I made it to Blackfoot, Idaho..."the potato capital of the world"! Yes, lol, this is the awesome Idaho Potato Museum and Cafe, one of the best spots I visited throughout my Idaho explorations. Some of my toughest critics may give me a hard time about this one..."Seth, what's so good about a potato museum??" And this is a valid point. But...it's the reward of sitting down inside the cafe and indulging on a real, authentic, freshly prepared baked potato at the end of it all. How good does that sound? For me, it was the true highlight and I loved every minute of it. Did I take a picture of myself eating the baked potato? GUILTY Did I ask an employee if I could eat the baked potato skin? GUILTY Were people staring at me like I was strange? GUILTY I had always known this is "the potato state" and I've done very little exploring around Idaho, so it was just the joy I was feeling while eating. Here are details about what you can expect at the Idaho Potato Museum and Cafe... Starting out, you must take a playful photo in front of the giant baked potato statue sitting outside. Everyone does and it's a wonderful memory. Then you have the option of entering left or right... - Left goes to the Gift Shop and Museum entrance. - Right goes straight to the Cafe. I started out going to the gift shop and museum first (which most visitors do). Before entering the museum, you can buy souvenirs and pay to enter the museum. They offer charming keepsakes to buy. Everything is labeled with some sort of potato aspect to it. I splurged for a $25.99 t-shirt. Here's the BEST part about buying something at the gift shop... whatever you purchase, they put it in an Idaho Potato Sack as your shopping bag! It's one of the coolest, fun-loving parts of the experience. Then walking around the museum, you're holding onto a potato sack bag over your shoulder, lol. Hours are... June, July and August: 9:30am - 7pm. Sunday - 9:30am - 5pm. September - May: Monday - Saturday 9:30am - 5pm Museum entry prices are... - Adults - $6. - Seniors, AAA and Military - $5.50. - Children 5 - 12 - $3. Under 5 is free. The museum doesn't take long. Maybe people spend 15 - 20 minutes walking around. They talk about the origins of Idaho potatoes and how potatoes have changed the world. There are films to watch and a Potato Lab for kids to get their hands on. Then it's time for the Potato Station Cafe! Here were menu items... Baked Potato: - Spud w/ Butter - $2.95 - Idahoan (butter, bacon, cheese, sour cream and chives) - $5.59 - Chili Cheese Potato - $6.50 - Full Bar Topping - $6.50 Fried items: - Fresh Cut Fries - $3.75 - Crispy Tater Dollar - $3.75 - Golden Tater Tots - $3.50 - Cheesy Tots - $3.45 - Waffle Fries - $3.25 I got the "Idahoan" Baked Potato without sour cream. It was delicious. The potato was fluffy. The cheese was melted and pulled. The bacon added salt and the butter was creamy. Would it be cliche if I said it was the best baked potato I've ever had, lol? I ate the whole thing, including the skin, and it was very fulfilling. In fact, I didn't even need to eat dinner. And the Idahoan was $5.59...best money I've spent. Lastly, I visited on a Saturday in July and because they were busy, I had to wait 15 minutes for a fresh batch of baked potatoes to come out of the oven. Waiting could be the case during summer travel season. After devouring the Idahoan, I left feeling mighty content. In the end, the Idaho Potato Museum and Cafe is the star attraction in the quiet city of Blackfoot, ID. I can't say enough good things as you can imagine my enthusiasm has been quite high in this review! Hope I can encourage others out there to check this place out.

Yelp
Stopped here on our road trip. I will say this was my highly anticipated stop of our trip and it did not disappoint! Got to learn the history of the potato and how it has become a crop all over the world. There were videos and a VR thing to watch. We got fries and tater tots after we went through the museum and they were so good! The fries were so crunchy. The gift shop had a wide selection of potato gifts. Would recommend stopping here if you're in the area!

Yelp
If you're in Idaho and love potatoes as much as me, you must visit the Idaho Potato museum! This museum will only take about an hour to walk through. It's pretty small (the building used to be a train station back in the day). They have free parking adjacent to the building. I loved learning about the potato industry from the eyes of Idahoans. The cafe next door was such a treat! Everything on the menu is potato based. The teens working the counter were very nice. The gift store had a nice selection of potato inspired souvenirs for you and loved ones. Overall, it's a pretty great museum for the price!

Yelp
Super fun little museum. Interesting. The cafe held such promise and was a let down - first they ran out of baked potatoes then the chili was like thick spaghetti sauce and the mashed potato bowl was blah. My take on this..... do the museum and gift shop but have lunch elsewhere.

Yelp
I'm a tourist in Idaho so of course the potato museum was on my must do list. For my family of 5 it was around $20 or so to get in (I used my AAA discount card) We went late on a Friday afternoon so it wasn't crowded. I don't think I would have paid much more than that for what it was but we did enjoy it. I thought the gift shop was super cute and I got a few potato themed stickers. The cashier at the shop was very friendly and helpful. Overall I thought it was fun and I'm Glad we made the stop.

Yelp
Gift shop & Museum were cute! This is a fun informative museum. Not big and easy to get to for a quick stop. Parker Y had good service when helping me out with my order at the cafe, unfortunately they were out of Bake potatoes and waffle fries. That's why I took away stars. He was nice about it and gave me other options. Big group came in before me, so our wait was really long. Prices are decent for fries and potatoes. Over all a great and cute stop! Must see
google avatar

Yelp
What a fun museum! Who know there was so much to learn about potato's?? From the sing song stylings of a family of potatoes to VR potato picking and beyond, it's a great way to spend a morning! And make sure to stop at the cafe! We had soup (yum!) and a baked potato with all the traditional toppings. They know the way to a perfect baked potato. The real highlight was jalapeño tots and a chocolate cupcake made with potato flour. Take a swing through the gift shop too!

Yelp
I never thought I'd have a potato museum on my bucket list BUT this museum was the highlight of my entire trip to Idaho! It was so adorable! There's actually quite a bit to see: the history of potato farming, why Idaho is known for potatoes, potatoes through the years, what comes from potatoes, the potato varieties... more than you'd probably think. After you're done looking through the museum, there's a potato cafe with some yummy options; LOADED baked potato, tater tots, FRESHLY BAKED potato muffins. You can smell it through the museum, it's awesome! The staff there were also super friendly. They truly enjoy meeting people and helping out. After visiting this museum, you'll never look at a potato the same again. If you're not from Idaho, make sure to ask about your "free gift"!

Yelp
I was super excited to try a perfectly baked Idaho Potato, and this was the place! The website said to call 2 hours in advance to be sure to get one. Being a rule follower, I called. Luckily the advance notice is only required in the summer when they sell out quickly. The worker told me she had a potato with my name on it , so I headed on over. The potato was great! I got "the Idahoan" with sour cream, cheese, green onion, and bacon. There are many different kinds and you can build your own. With a full belly, I wandered into the museum. So much fun! Video games, virtual videos, Interesting machinery, and photos. Giant potato crisp, and bronzed giant potato! The gift shop was fun too! I got potato soap, potato lotion, and a shirt, all bagged up in potato sacks. Too cute!

Yelp
If you've ever felt the existential need to explore the history of Idaho's most famous export, the Idaho Potato Museum is a spud-tacular destination that mashes together history, fun, and carbs in glorious fashion. Nestled in the heart of potato country, this museum is the ultimate shrine to the tuber that put Idaho on the map--complete with a giant baked potato sculpture to greet you at the entrance. Yes, really. Inside, you'll find exhibits ranging from the evolution of potato farming equipment to vintage potato sack designs, which are somehow oddly fascinating. There's even a display of the world's largest potato crisp--because why not? The museum does a great job peeling back the layers of this humble vegetable's story, all while keeping things light-hearted and fun. But let's talk about the pièce de résistance: the café. Holy starch, the food here is phenomenal. From loaded baked potatoes that could double as a meal to creamy potato soup that feels like a warm hug, the dishes are comfort food perfection. Don't sleep on the potato ice cream either--it's weird, it's wonderful, and it somehow works. In summary: come for the quirky history, stay for the heavenly potatoes. It's Idaho, at its absolute finest.

Yelp
Iconic and just a few miles off the freeway, the potato Museum is worth the stop! Take the Opportunity to Learn About the AG that Idaho is based around. Admission is only $6 and you could easily spend 1-2 hours depending how deep you read. Afterward you can wander into the attached cafe for a baked Potato or some fresh cut fries. It's an easy pit stop To make on your journey and truly worth the stop!

Yelp
As silly as this sounds, you have to make a detour and tour this gem. It is actually super interesting and is a wonderful destination. We spent almost an hour going through the museum and ended it with some delicious fries.

Yelp
The Idaho Potato Museum was a good halfway stop on the way from Salt Lake City to Jackson Hole. Our group of four ordered a baked potato, potato dollars and waffle fries. All came out fresh and hot. The potato photo op was a hit and the gift shop had a big selection of items. I ended up leaving with a potato plushie for my dog and they bagged it in a potato bag, which I thought was very cute and on brand.

Yelp
Pretty much stopped by to take a picture with the GINORMOUS potato in front. We did not stop to dine or eat anything here.

Yelp
Surprisingly fantastic museum! I never expected something as seemingly simple as the everyday potato to be so important and so full of history haha! This museum definitely does it justice and makes it really fun - lots of fun facts, memorabilia, and even ancient potato artifacts!! From the outside, it looks very small but it's a huge museum. They have all sorts of different exhibits - even a really fun VR presentation! You sit in a chair and can really immerse into what it's like to be on a potato harvester - 360 views too! This museum will definitely make for a great family activity and there's a really excellent cafe inside as well (see my separate review). Prices are extremely reasonable- $6 per person - well worth it. It's easy to find and r here's plenty of parking. Staff are all super friendly and welcoming. They even give you a free gift with your ticket of a package of hashbrowns haha! They have a fun gift shop with some great gift ideas. If you're in the area I highly recommend a visit here!

Yelp
Seeing the ginormous potato chip, see the vr, And potato expirements were the best part of being in the museum. Also Idaho is the best state except for ohio. # Idaho potatos

Yelp
What a fun place to stop to learn everything you ever wanted to know about the tater! Be ready to read, lots. There is an endless amount of history and data about the potato. (I am growing potatoes in my garden and I even learned a thing or too about personally growing them!) Make sure you allow enough time to read through all the facts, you will have a new appreciation for the importance of potatoes and how pertinent they have been throughout history. One of my favorite experiences was the movie room. There are some excellent short videos to select. I liked the one about French Fries, but alas, they are my favorite food group ;). Don't miss the video nook! Cute little kid section in the back that is immersive for younger aged humans. Worth a visit and everyone working there is extremely nice and welcoming. Mmm taters! I had to go get fries after this visit.

Yelp
Very fun. Serious, funny, tongue in cheek, kids features. This was a really cute museum. As adults without children, we didn't expect to be impressed, but we were. We laughed, we learned, it was really pretty darn glorious given where it was located, how you had to find it, and, indeed, given fairly low expectations. Definitely worth at least one trip!

Charmaine B.

Yelp
We spent the night in the parking lot (Harvest Hosts). The trains (we were warned) loud! So... in the morning we went into the museum, grift shop and cafe. Every employee was very friendly and happy. Neil (on the cafe side) was a hoot. Dressed up for Halloween and just visited with us while he folded towels. We had our coffee and he gave us each one of the donuts he had purchased for the employees. Nice stop.

Yelp
I wasn't sure what to expect, but, I am glad that we visited. The Idaho Potato Museum & Gift Shop is a fun and educational place to visit. Entrance to the museum is through the gift shop. The had everything potato. We even picked up a few Potato Museum refrigerator magnets. They bagged everything up for us and threw it in a potato sack. The museum was nice and educational. We learned the history of the potato and saw some agricultural equipment. It's a great place to visit when traveling through Idaho.

Yelp
What a great experience! Definitely a place to stop when you're driving through Idaho. They say it takes about an hour to go through it but it's more like 30 minutes unless you read all the information, play with the mr potato heads, watch the movie and the computer games. If you have time to spend, it's worth reading everything, Family friendly. Not dog friendly. Please don't leave your pup in the car while you're touring the museum especially on a hot day. My boyfriend and I took turns as we had our dogs with us. There is green area in the back if you want them to stretch their legs too! There's a cafe with limited items on the menu. They suggest to book your baked potato online ahead of time because it could be a 2 hour wait. I ate their fries instead and it was pretty oily.
google avatar

Steven W.

Yelp
What can you expect for a museum for the lowly potato? This place has it all. Photos, world record potatoes, diagrams explaining potatoes from seed to feeding your family. Even a couple of virtual reality headsets put you in the tractor as it gathers up the crop. Be sure to get your "Taters for Out-of-Staters."
google avatar

Roni V.

Yelp
Fun stop for a quick picture and potato snack. There a little gift shop with everything potato related including potato candy bars. There's a small museum section with some potato history. And there's a little Cafe with yummy potato snacks. The place smells of yummy potatoes! Worth checking out!
google avatar

Gail U.

Yelp
It's not every day a chance to visit a potato museum comes your way. Slightly off the beaten path we ventured here as the opening time was right. We had hopes of different flavored potato chips but alas there were a few Potato Head toys for sale, post cards, etc. I'm a sucker for gift shops and bought a bottle of potato Lotion for $15+, a potato peeler, some truffles and a post card. Oh and a pony stuffed animal. The cashier put my merchandise in a pretty purple mesh bag that she said was a real potato bag. She asked if we wanted to see the museum which came with an admittance fee but I said we were on our way with a long way to go. At least we took a few photos there.
google avatar

Cari A.

Yelp
Pros: -Idaho/potato souvenirs -Blackfoot, Idaho postcards are available -free parking lot -large potato out front which is good for photos Cons: -cafe was closed Overall, if you have a few minutes to spare this place is fine. However if was a bit lackluster.

Yelp
My mama and I decided to take a road trip through Utah, Idaho, and Montana, and we stretched our legs at the Idaho Potato Museum. Who am I kidding? We made a trip just to visit it! This blink-and-you'll-miss-it roadside attraction is the crown jewel of Blackfoot, Idaho -- the Potato Capital of the World. Drive downtown and look for the giant fake potato out front. Free parking! Six dollar (cheap!) admission! Free bag of instant mashed 'taters for out-of-staters! Is the museum worth paying admission? Not really. But if you've already come all this way, won't you regret not stepping inside? I knew we would, so I ponied up $12, flashed our drivers licenses, clutched our free instant taters, and went inside. The museum is self-guided so you can take as little or as much time as you want. Do note the hours in case you are with a true potato freak who may need more than 8 hours to complete a visit. We shopped at the tiny gift shop first, and while they did sell random kitsch like Idaho keychains and stuffed toy potatoes (score!), we were very disappointed that they didn't have bumper stickers that read "I Brake for Potatoes." I mean, do they even WANT my tourist dollars? It's better to go in not knowing much about what's inside the small museum. The thrill of discovery is second only to the wafting smell of baked and fried potatoes coming from the small cafe next door. Our stomachs started growling just from the scent, so after the museum, mom and I went to grab a snack. It was so disappointing that while this is a potato museum and cafe, there was a 30 minute wait for freshly baked potatoes! Epic fail! There should be potatoes baking 24/7 to feed the hungry crowds. We saw at least half a dozen other potential customers simply shrugging and walking out. We decided to order tater tots because gosh darn it, we wanted potatoes, and the sign outside advertised a chili cheese tot special. More disappointment waited for us: the special wasn't being offered that day. BOOOOO! The one guy working the counter was overwhelmed. It took us almost 20 minutes to get our tots. They were super duper crispy and delicious, however. But this place really needs to work on their speed of service. I didn't order the potato ice cream because it was time to get back on the road. Be sure to sign the guest book, and take time to read some of the entries. People come from all over the world to visit this museum! On the way out, we stopped for a few novelty photos with the giant fiberglass baked potato out front, complete with sour cream and a pat of butter! Our pic is going to make one rad holiday card!

Yelp
Stopped here for a break from driving from Yellowstone to Salt Lake City. Admission to museum for adults is $6 but they have a $0.50 discount like AAA. Museum is okay and small; you'll probably less an hour or less here. Stopped by the cafe to get a baked potato; gotta eat a potato item at a potato museum. I got the Chili n Cheese Baked Potato ($5.99).

Yelp
We stopped here as part of a harvest host stay! It was a fun stop and we'd recommend it. We would give the staff 5 stars, because they were really friendly. We would give the museum 3 stars, because it wasn't very large and there were quite a few typos. There was a kids section but we didn't have kids with us so didn't apply to us. But the variety of ways to display they displayed information was impressive for a small museum - videos, display cases and talking potatoes . We would give the cafe 5 stars, my fiancé says it's the best baked potato he's ever had! It was delicious! He got beef poutine on his and I had veggie/vegan chili on mine. Note - my coat did smell like potatoes for a couple days after Overall, great host and we're glad we stayed! We wouldn't go out of our way to come back (except maybe for the potatoes) but it was a fun one time stop.

Yelp
What a cool little museum AND Cafe! At first I thought, "seriously, this is too funny". It is funny BUT the history of farming, planting, storing is very interesting. There is a case with hundreds of different potato mashers! Videos and funny stories. Definitely worth two hours plus the Cafe has several potato offerings and good ice cream! Really enjoyed myself, had a delightful baked potato and learned alot as well. Entry fee is $6.00 and worth it!

Yelp
It was neat to learn about the history of potato farming. There was one video that showed how McDonalds makes their fries. I recommend stopping by to explore the museum and even ordering some food. The workers at the food area were so kind. Lastly, the fries sold here were THE best waffle fries and tater tots we ever had. 5 stars for those fries! It was worth the time and money.

Yelp
If you're expecting Disneyland, this is far from it. This is a museum about potatoes and to be honest, I had zero expectation upon entering but what's a trip through Idaho without stopping to learn about potatoes. Given that, this museum was a lot of fun. The gentleman at the counter was super friendly and helpful. The gift shop at all sorts of potato items including potato parody shirts and even potato lotion. The museum was informative and educational. We even stopped for a potato in the cafe and tried the potato ice cream which was excellent as well.

Yelp
Potato land is the theme and wow do they have all you ever needed to know about the humble potato! There was walls filled with facts There was historic tools There was a VR headset that allowed you to sit in on an actual farmer farming for potato's! Plus they have a small grill on the far side of the museum that'll cook you up any sort of potato themed food you could ever ask for! My wife says the VR farmer looks just like her brother.

Yelp
We were in Idaho for a day and we decided to checkout the Idaho Potato Museum. We went there around 11:30am and we bought the tickets from the counter. The tickets are cheap for the museum. It is a small museum which contains the history of potato and how it was bought in Idaho. Very informative and amazing museum containing the history. There is also a small video room where one can checkout the different videos like for example how fries are made in mcdonald's, how potato crop is grown etc. I recommend everyone to visit the museum.

Yelp
A really unique little stop! Smelled like potato's and oil for sure. My eyes were burning by the time we left. But so many cute things to see! If you have 30 minutes definitely stop by!

Yelp
The Idaho Potato museum is a must see if you find yourself in the area!! Entry was a very reasonable price, including discounts for children, seniors and military personnel. As an avid potato fan, I loved learning many fun facts about the history and importance of the potato. There were many interesting displays including an awesome virtual reality showing how potatoes are harvested. We ended our visit at the cafe and gift shop. It was hard to choose from the many intriguing potato options at the cafe. We ate some DELICIOUS potatoes in cheesy tot form and baked potato form. The employees at the gift shop were extremely friendly and helped us find some souvenirs to remember our visit.

Yelp
When planning our vacation, I insisted on a stop at the Idaho Potato Museum. I love potatoes in all forms and being of Irish decent I always joke that potatoes are a part of my DNA! Upon arrival the very first thing I had to do was get a family photo in front of the giant potato out front. I mean it's a GIANT POTATO! So much fun! There is even a little support for setting your cell phone on to get just the right shot. Walking through the museum we were were met with facts, history, and unique displays of potato related items from days gone by. It was fascinating to learn how the russet got its name, how it arrived in Idaho, and how it became the staple side that we know it as today. There is everything from photos to machinery bringing the potato story to life. There is even some little hands on things for small children to explore. This sweet museum is a bit of knowledge, nostalgia, and fun all rolled into one. The museum also has a gift shop full of fun and unexpected items! You can get souvenirs, t-shirts, novelty items, and food related items. We even picked up a poster of Marilyn Monroe dressed in a potato sack! I could have bought so much more than the items I chose, but I had to restrain myself! LOL The Potato Station Cafe is attached to the museum and it is so cute! You can order fresh baked potatoes, fresh cut fries, potato chips, potato cupcakes, and Reed's ice cream to top off your visit. You can sit in and enjoy the museum displays along the top the walls, or you can do carry out. Sit in if you have time though, it's so lovely! If I can give you one piece of advice regarding your visit, don't go around lunch or dinner. Plan your visit during the off hours, as the cafe gets VERY busy and you might miss out just as we did. We ended up in the cafe around noon and unfortunately there were no baked potatoes left which is what I had been looking forward to. It was going to take another hour to make more and unfortunately as we were just passing through we could not wait. If this is a big part of your desired experience, plan to go eat before lunch. I was really sad to miss out. My son got french fries to go and they were delicious! They even had three or four dips to choose from, not just the regular ketchup or mayo. All in all I would highly recommend stopping here as the museum is fun, the gift shop is fab, and the cafe is so lovely with great tasting food. The town of Blackfoot is super cute too! Thanks Idaho Potato Museum and cafe staff, hope to see you again one day!

Yelp
We laughed, we learned, we bought souvenirs and we snacked. Best tater tots I've ever tasted. Fun, wholesome stop on our roadtrip through beautiful Idaho!

Yelp
It definitely wasn't the greatest museum that I've ever been to, but it was still an enjoyable experience... especially since my family & I love potatoes! I also must say that it's very small, but we expected that for $6. At the end of the museum, they had a small potato cafe, so I decided to give it a try. Their fries looked awesome, but it was kind of chilly that day, so I was craving soup. I ordered their loaded potato soup (which all the employees raved about) and a potato roll. Although, the soup looked appetizing, it didn't taste all that great, as it was very bland:/ However, the potato roll that came with it was SOOO good! It was fresh, hot, moist and delicious! Seriously, I could have eaten 3 in one sitting, lol. It was that yummy! As for the staff, all the employees were super sweet and friendly (which is always a plus in my book). I also thought their gift shop was really cute. I bought a few things there for my family, and everyone loved their gifts!

Yelp
What can I say, when in Idaho and nearby, you have to go to the Idaho Potato Museum. It is a bit cheesy but worth the cost and you'll learn something. It's not huge but they have some cool potato artifacts. There are some interactive parts to the museum as well. They have a cafe that makes fresh fries which were good. It's nothing to write home about but you won't regret going. I wouldn't go again but I am glad I went once.

Yelp
My husband and I are from AZ and we really enjoyed it. We learned a lot about Potatoes that we didn't know. There's a lot of reading on the walls about Potatoes and it's very knowledgeable. You enter the kitchen part of the museum that sells fries, potatoes, etc.

Yelp
This is the cutest museum ever!!!! Definitely a must when driving through Idaho. I came by after a road trip and really enjoyed it. + Gift shop: Has the best puns! Cute patches, mugs and tshirts. They even gave a tater for an out of stater! + Museum: Found it super informative and playful. Even a section for kids to enjoy! It's definitely cool to learn about a such an important staple in the agricultural system! + Cafe: Dont miss this! The fries ($3.50) is a crazy good deal. Huge and unlimited toppings and very tasty. The potato ice cream (flavored huckle berry) but made w real potatoes was yum.

Yelp
This place was on my friend's bucket list and we were driving by the area so we stopped. It was a fun time for only a few dollars. Lots of interesting facts and some cool antiques. The gift shop was great and not overpriced. The cafe wasn't open when we were there, but we happened to be there during the eastern Idaho state fair so we just headed down the street for some food! I wouldn't need to go back to this museum again (it's small) but I'm glad I got there once!
