This is a review of the restaurant at the Inn.
To preface the review of the restaurant, I must say that the parking situation is terrible; if you don't obtain a spot at the front of the building, your only options are parking in very tight diagonal parking at the side, and a very small and awkward parking lot in the back. Unfortunately I had to park in one of the diagonal parking spots with a large sedan, and it took me 15 mins to try to exit, maneuvering my way around cars that had been parked in 'no parking zones,' as a result of lack of parking.
The building itself is quite beautiful and historic, and as I am from this area originally, I'm surprised that I hadn't heard about it previously.
Moving on to the dinner, we were seated in the main dining room for a business dinner that began at 6:30pm. We were greeted by the staff who were very pleasant, and offered beverages. We were seated and as we had an agenda to get through, asked for our orders to be taken immediately after being seated, which was at 7pm. We had one server for over 20 people, which was clearly not enough, and we actually had additional individuals show up later.
Our appetizers took quite a bit of time to come out, almost 45 mins. We were given bread before that time, although immediately preceding the appetizers. We were offered the restaurant's dinner menu, and I opted for the tomato stewed octopus. I must say, that it was the most unsightly food dish I've ever been served and I was actually taken aback. I wish I could provide you with a photo. It was a big brown, disorganized heap.
Furthermore, the taste was incredibly unappealing. The dish is described as 'Tomato Stewed Octopus with Fava bean puree, eggplant caponata, blistered cherry tomatoes, and caper berries.' It was bitter, mixed with an odd citric flavor from caper berries, bland beans, and really unappetizing octopus. I could not take more than a few bites of the dish.
Unfortunately there was quite a time lag between the appetizer and main dish, and as we had already finished our meeting by 8pm, everyone was ready to leave rather than wait for the entrees.
I had the 'Pan Seared Halibut with Beet & almond risotto, goats' cheese mousse, shaved asparagus; preserved lemon mascarpone cream sauce & basil oil.' Overall, it was bland at best. The presentation was quite nice due to the shaved asparagus.
After I left, it took me over 15 mins to exit the parking lot due to the aforementioned parking issues. Overall, the staff were quite pleasant, although 1 server for more than 2 attendees is unreasonable for those attending, and for the server.
In regards to the food quality, I was not impressed overall, especially given the prices.
