Beautiful grounds. Lots of gorgeous trees and flowers. A conferene room, pool, outdoor seating. Very secure. Has a gate around the premises and a guard 24/7. Wonderful staff. They went out of their way to talk to us and make sure we had everything we need. We were there for less than a day and didn't have time to try the food. The rooms were well appointed with locitainne amenities and even a micro kitchen. The main downside is the bugs. We were eaten alive by mosquitoes at night. They had a fan but even putting it directly on us didn't do much. A net would have worked better. We attempted to kill some of the buggers before sleeping but the roof is thatched so it's impossible to spot and reach them all.

We were greeted in a heavy downpour by Paul. He helped us to our room and umbrellas and was extremely welcoming. One of the most comfortable stays I have had anywhere. A fantastic place for tourists as well.

Omg such a beautiful place, the serene environment makes it you not want to leave. The very humble and friendly staff make you feel at home. Don't even let me start with the amazing food! Served so appetizingly well with love.

Booked a one day workshop at Idwala Hotel. Everything was perfectly arranged, just as we discussed. Jeanette and the staff are incredibly professional and helpful. The lunch was delicious. The day was such a success that before leaving the delegates requested a second workshop at the same venue. Thank-you Jeanette to you and your team for your high standards, outstanding service and beautiful venue.

Mixed feelings about this hotel. There is no doubt that the scenery is lovely and the rooms look really cool as well, goven the hay roofs and decent design. Another great factor is the staff which was amazong, always made you ferl welcome, especially the chef Paul! But thats pretty much it. To the bad things, I spent 2 weeks in the cottage ('garden room') and the wifi was next to non existent. Not even talking about watching movies here but simple browsing was an absolute nightmare. Also tv wise (even though im sure most would not bother) there were 5-6 channels and only 2 had reasonable quality. I would not be bothered about this myself but I'm a football fan and last hotel I stayed in in this area had 7 sports channels to choose from, this one had 1 and not working properly. Moreover, the service on breakfasts/ dinners wasnt the fastest - the breakfast are not on buffet basis but rather ordering - once it took them half an hour to get us youghurt with fruits during breakfast! Finally, I was wuit disappointed with lack of a gym (5* guest house with no gym, for real?), also the swimming pool was more like a small pond rather than a pool. Altogether, overally not impressed and I guess I would not come back to stay on this hotel again. Thanks

Tranquil little treasure in the most unexpected place. The hotel has a lot to offer from culinary delights to friendly staff members who are eager to go above and beyond to make your stay as enjoyable and relaxing as you need it to be.

This is an intimate bush-style retreat in Johannesburg. I spent a night at Idwala Boutique Hotel with my family and left feeling thoroughly relaxed. It is easily accessible, near the Cresta Shopping Centre, and consists of charming, comfortable rondavels set in beautiful gardens. The rooms have underfloor heating and heated towel rails. The breakfast and dinner were delicious and the service was very attentive.
