Visited Iford Gardens on a sunny day and it was amazing. Peaceful and quiet — no crowds or noisy young children — just tranquility! Garden slopes up behind the house and (among other thigs) has a beautiful Italian style cloister, pavilion, a wealth of statues, and elegant colonnades. It feels as if you’ve stepped into Tuscany.
New owners have also added a shady Japanese garden with pool, we saw dragon flies.
The tea room and terrace are is great, although cake is on steep side price-wise. The ticket booth has a small selection of postcards/guide book - all you need (no over-the-top gift shop).
A wonderful place for anyone who appreciates gardens.
Only downsides: it closes at 4 pm, some paths are very steep (no kids under 10 allowed) and the access roads are very narrow — so plan your trip accordingly!
