Interesting shape of the church in the middle of the city. It is much smaller than I expected. It is free to enter but costs 1€ to climb up to the top of the dome and look down on the inside of the church. Definitely worth the Euro for this experience. It is a stop for the pilgrims on their journey to Santiago.

We stop in this city, Pontevedra on our 10th day of Camino Porto. In Ottone, Iglesia Virgen Peregrina Pontevedra is very nice. Everyone who are here must visit.

Wow and the convent next to it. The grounds are beautiful and it is right there off the plaza

Terrible, the woman who stamp for ppl is very rude and impatient. She used three of my stamp spots. Don’t come to her for the stamp, it’s a huge waste of life!

I had the chance to visit the Igrexa da Virxe Peregrina in Pontevedra, and I was truly struck by its beauty. The church’s unique shell-shaped design is unlike anything I’ve seen before, and its neoclassical style adds to its elegance. The interior is peaceful and welcoming, with stunning artwork and details. It was fascinating to learn about its connection to the Camino de Santiago and its importance as a pilgrimage site. The church stands as a lovely symbol of both religious devotion and local history.

Such a wonderful sight to see in this very nice little town. The sculpture, building and art are so very good and I would advise anyone to stop and visit if possible. This is a very nice part of town with so much to do within walking distance. Thank you to those that maintain this great structure.

The original Virgin Pilgrim Church. Understood that this was a site of a tower under the jurisdiction of the Bishop of Santiago. Pilgrims used to travel through Pontevedra and stop over for prayers here. Beautiful church inside with Camino seashell emblems all over the church including confessional box, Benches, statues etc. The pilgrim mass is daily at 730pm and apparently there’s also an English pilgrim mass later in the evening (but we can’t confirm.)

Beautiful church with really interesting history. Quite small, not helped by having a stall filled with extremely overpriced tourist tut right in the entranceway
