An extremely ancient Church in Old Panama it is extremely gorgeous! You cannot wear a hat inside. And there are a whole bunch of little shops around! You have to stop by and see this!

This temple is also called Iglesia San Jose. It is an Augustian temple. It says it is one of the first to be built in Panana's old Quarter. It was burnt by fire in 1737 and rebuilt.
The 1832 law abolished all convents. The order returned in late 19th century.

Peaceful and beautiful site to visit, I went after visiting the ruins first and reccoemnd this (in old (viejo) panama) because the golden altar was taken and transported from that old site to this one.

Old Spanish church with many statues, an enormous manger scene, and a golden altar. No fee required, although we did meet a very helpful guide to whom we gave a tip and there are also donation boxes and a small gift counter available

You cannot visit the old town and not see this. Historically it is the nicest church in the old center, as it has the golden altar, and wow as it trully shines! Keep this one for the last of the 4 -5 to visit. Combine it with a nice reamstaurant or bar there and you ll be in the area for at least half a day.
