Among the most unforgettable places I visited in Oviedo. Hard to believe that Christians were worshipping God here for over 1000 years. A truly UNESCO gem!

Beautifully situated Pre romanic church ten minutes from the centre of Oviedo, with three naves and a striking wooden effigy of Jesus on the cross as an altarpiece. A lot of the masonry has fallen into disrepair but its frescos in the chapels have similarities with those found on the inner walls of Egyptian temples. It is three euros to visit with informative guide (in Spanish), which you have to take to see inside the church.

Very interesting example of a religious site from the 9th century. It preserves 70% of the original interior polychrome. Hours closed every 30 min. Last show 17:30. World Heritage Site next to Naranco and Lillo. Taking photos inside is prohibited.

This church is one of the finest examples of Asturian Pre-Romanesque architecture, built in the early 9th century by King Alfonso II el Casto. It is a unique structure influenced by Byzantine, Late Roman, and Visigothic styles. The church is characterized by its thick stone and brick walls, small windows, and a simple yet solid construction. One of its most remarkable features is the original 9th-century frescoes, which are among the oldest surviving Christian frescoes in Spain. The name Santullano is derived from Saint Julian and his wife Saint Basilisa, to whom the church is dedicated.

An authentic Catholic church, built in the early ninth century and declared a World Heritage Site. The Roman style is highlighted by picturesque decorations, preserved to this day. The simple and unique form of architecture and gives it grandeur and eternity.

A UNESCO world heritage site and a pre-romanesque building. One of the 5 UNESCO sites around Oviedo. It's a little bit out of the way compared to the other one's which are either very centrally located or very close to each other. I also thought that it wasn't really sign posted in the city how to get there. Still worth a visit.
