Ignacio Ramírez Market

This is really an exceptional market. The choices and quality of souvenirs is vast and really good. Do shop around as prices between stalls varies widely with some stalls being overpriced for simple things that others consistently have for less money. Painted and unpainted hats are ana good example, but even the small games and toys vary in price . The vendors are all really nice... Then there's the food. First, the place is clean and smells great. We were on the hunt for a a guacamaya and we found a truly delicious one...so great we brought our family back the next day!! Highly recommend this spot! Super nice vendors.

The market has a striking exterior, very photogenic. The majority of stalls sell trinkets, but there are also food vendors (tortas, enchiladas, tamales, juice, etc.) open from 9:00AM-5:00PM. I bought a very tasty sandwich for 45 Mxn here. There a just a handful of stalls selling fresh produce, and only two selling cheese.

I loved everything about this market. We had the best jugos, juices made from scratch fresh fruit. It’s loud, it colorful and a wonderful experience of color and magic. We even purchased shoes to match an outfit perfectly for a wedding

Nice place to explore like a locals. See what is on the market, the local commodities. Fresh flowers, food courts with local foods, fresh produce, local snacks. I enjoy this place. Nice.

Nice place, good products, nice fruits and veggies, nuts and seeds with good prices. Vendors were nice. I thought 20 pesos for the bathroom was a bit on the high side, but overall it was pleasant there with the live music and artisenal crafts. I REALLY appreciated that when I bought a bottle a water and forgot to get my change (from a woman cooking gizzards and livers in the open air area), a lady chased me down halfway across the market to tell me they were just making change and to come back for my change. We had a nice laugh about it, and I'll go back there to get some of whatever they're cooking just because I appreciated that honesty so much. After getting ripped off in other places, it helped restore some of my faith in humanity. There are still good people in the world and at least some of them are in Ignacio Ramirez.

This place has everything. There are a lot of local venders, artists and produce. Also if you are looking for souvenirs they have all of them for a decent price.

Great market attended by mostly locals, which is reflected by the low prices. I've been to lunch there twice, and both cost 70-80 pesos each.

Anytime that we have an opportunity to visit this beautiful little town with our friends we always make a trip down to City Central and discover new artisan shops, visit the traditional candy store, enjoy fabulous fresh fruits and vegetables, and pick up a beautiful bouquet of flowers. We stopped by Las Rositas Fonda restaurant and were very pleased to try their food for the first time. Give it a try!!!

Lots of items to buy! This market is big and has a lot of different vendors. You can find just about anything you are look for.

Wonderful San Miguel de Allende. Safe clean fun tasty. People are so nice I wish I could speak more Spanish. Lovely plaza People talking under the shade. Just one word beautiful. Oops not to mention so cheap. 17.5 pesos to $1 US

Do not use the napkins unless you wanna buy sum pretty good food I was forced to eat after I used napkin bc bird dukes on me I don't know too much about the shops but seems legit

This is THE place to buy gifts for those back home, or everything you need for your next Fiesta back at home. Most prices are better than shops around the Jardin. Some very high quality shops mixed in with some that are less $$ but cheap. Usually a taxi driver will know if you just say "mercado" but use the Ignacio Ramirez name and they ALL will know. Some booths have the artists sitting there creating. This MERCADO is a MUST DO for every trip to SMA. The flowers are a GREAT BUY, and try to find the little oilcloth store! There is also a Tuesday Market (Tianguis) "on the top of the hill" that is more flea market-ish and fun if you are in SMA for a good while, but it is more used stuff than handicrafts--mostly locals shopping. Amazing displays of bulk candy, next to a booth that sells used tires or 8 track tapes: you get the idea.
