Beautiful church with a lot of decorations. Worth to be viewed.

A beautiful cathedral, but it seems to be a little lacking in funding. The rooftop terrace offers beautiful views of the city center. They called it a tower :) the price of 1 euro is worth the money. In the left wing on the first floor, the ornate hall is open for visits.

Nice church, good photo opportunities to be had. You can get access to the tower for one €. Walk to the alter, then turn left where you can pay at the desk in the corner. The views from the top are beautiful.

Nice church to see when walking around the streets of Funchal. It always amazes me that such beautiful interiors are hidden behind such an unassuming facade. The church is big from inside and out, and you can see that compared to a cathedral of Funchal.

Absolutely gorgeous interior and free entry. I was definitely wowed and I’ve seen a LOT of churches and cathedrals. All the chapels have English translations of to whom they are dedicated.

Calm, interesting place. Glad that the building was open this time, because it was closed during our previous visits in 2022 and 2023.

I cannot recall a more spectacular display of colour and different mediums inside a church. On the walls there is a mixture of beautiful tiles, paintings, paintings made to look like tiles and an exquisitely painted barrel vaulted ceiling. I sat on a bench, lent back and stared upwards for ages, full of wonderment at the men who had created this masterpiece. It is a stunning 17th century gift to the 21st century.
