Need a unique way to cool off? 🥶 No problem! Come here and you'll taste ice cream that you haven't tasted before. The interesting and unique texture is something words can't describe, but the sounds I made when I was eating it could. 🍨 😊 Mmmmyummeemem! The ice cream as you can clearly see in the picture, was beautiful looking and the restaurant was clean. Service was very friendly and it's so easy to get to. 🛣️ 😊 I highly recommend coming here, just don't make the same annoying food sounds I made. ❤️❤️❤️

This is one of those places you check out because of the cool Instagram and TikTok posts, but honestly, the taste doesn’t live up to the hype. Sure, it’s a unique experience and the ice cream looks interesting (black or purple colors definitely catch your eye), but the flavor was really disappointing. It didn’t taste like ice cream at all. The flavor was strange, and all I could really taste was coconut, which I didn’t enjoy. There were even small bits of coconut in it that made the texture kind of off-putting. If you’re going just to snap a few pics for social media, go for it. But if you actually care about how your dessert tastes, I wouldn’t recommend it. That said, the staff were super friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. The shop itself is nicely decorated, but when we visited, there was no AC or fan running, it felt like a sauna while we waited in line.

I like the flavours that they offer here, specially the Pandan and Ube. I also like the texture of their ice cream. It’s a pretty good amount that you get for one scoop/ serving. I’ve been back several times now and always keep it in mind when I’m in the area to stop by for some more.

Google
Saw so many videos about this place and had to check it out and it definitely lived up to my expectations. I got the charcoal and ube swirl and it tasted so good. I love the combination of flavours and I really like the texture of their ice cream. They offer a free cone on the day of your birthday and all you have to show is your ID too. The worker there was also really nice and once I mentioned it was my birthday he immediately greeted me and overall had an amazing attitude. Great customer service and ice cream :)

Google
I loved the treat! It was my first time at the store and they really know how to provide an outstanding customer service. Forgot to get the staff name but she was super friendly. The ice cream was delicious and the cone really crunchy. Loved everything and will come back for more 🥰

Google
Vanilla is very good but I got the twist with matcha. I could not taste matcha at all! May have to give them another shot or just get single flavor.

Google
Ramsha is so nice and welcoming! Thank you for serving us these delicious ice cream 🍦 ☺️ I got the Pandan nut and my cousin got strawberry nut. Both tasted so goood! 😍 Will be back for the boba ice cream 🥹 can’t wait to try that one!

Google
Love the icecream. I go for a walk every Sunday by the harbourfront to look for their food truck, but i think ill stop and just go to the queen st location. Week after week the icecream gets smaller and smaller. It almost looks like a kiddoe scoop at this point. Kinda disappointing when your paying $8 .

Yelp
This ice cream spot is located conveniently close to Trinity Bellwoods Park. They sell soft serve ice cream as well as pints. They're known for their iconic charcoal waffle cone, and Asian inspired flavors. The portions are pretty generous and service is fast and friendly. There's not a lot of seating at this location so you'll have to walk and eat or go to the nearby park. My favorite combo is the matcha nut flavor, which is ube stacked on matcha.
google avatar

Yelp
We always walk by this location and finally stopped by after caving for something cold on a hot day. They have many good selections and flavours. I tried the all in flavour, where they had all 4 flavours combined. The flavour that stood out to me the most are the Ube and matcha. I think I'll stick to those two flavours next time. The service is usually pretty quick. You almost get your ice cream immediately after you order. One down side is that you need to ask for napkins, and they will only give you one piece (maybe you can ask for more?). Since our ice cream was pretty melted by the time we got to the bottom, it got pretty messy to eat. The decor itself is cute and cozy, they also have 2 benches outside for people to sit at.

Yelp
This place was recommended by a friend for their Asian flavored ice cream. The ice cream here is thick yet smooth, a bit on the sweeter side. We got the ube and charcoal flavor which was really good, and their portions hare huge. We opted to get a charcoal cone for the aesthetic, but that was a 1.50CAD surcharge which was fairly steep. Prices are high but portions are fair, and an order of ice cream is enough to feed 2 people. There is not much seating here, if at all, so we just ordered the ice cream to walk around.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I came here with his cousin while out and about in Toronto and were intrigued by the interesting combinations of flavours they had on display. There's only one size of soft-serve that they offer so the three of us ended up splitting one cone. The store is cute, but small and we ended up having to wait fifteen minutes before we could order. The tables are also pretty small, the three of us could barely sit together, but it would be a cute date spot. We decided on a swirl of the Madagascar vanilla bean and the charcoal ice cream. I've never had charcoal ice cream and I don't normally like coconut anything, but the flavours were pretty subtle and not too overpowering. The vanilla soft serve was so creamy and rich; I loved how it tasted and would definitely go back for just a plain vanilla cone. My boyfriend and I liked this little ice cream shop and loved that we got to try something new, but I think trying this once was enough.

Yelp
Service was amazing and so so so nice. I had wonderful samples and the man in the van was beyond kind and funny. Super super tasty come and would 1000% order again.

Yelp
Good soft serve with flavours like ube, charcoal, pandan, vanilla bean, strawberry, and matcha. Located on queen street and Niagara street, it's close by trinity bellwoods park so it's a great to grab some ice cream and take a stroll as there are no seats inside.
google avatar

Yelp
Beautiful ice cream. Taste was okay! I like the newest Hojicha flavor! Service was quick!
google avatar

Nana T.

Yelp
Service is soso friendly thank you to the lady who kept offering and insisting me to try different flavours! The charcoal cone is a must and the ube soft serve is amazinggg I tried the charcoal coconut soft serve this time along with the hojicha soft serve. They were really nice along with the ube. I really want to try the pandan but the discontinued for the moment to make room for seasonal flavours. I will definitely be back for that!!
google avatar

Lauren Z.

Yelp
Such a cute store and the colours are beautiful delicious flavours, but texture isn't what I had expected, it was small clumps of something. Wasn't very smooth, but I did like the flavour. They had a lot of Asian flavours like pandan, matcha, ube and mango. The staff was very friendly.
google avatar

Maggie D.

Yelp
LOVE LOVE LOVE their ice cream. My favourite is the charcoal coconut flavour. The cones are huge and quick tip, you can choose your own flavours to mix! Always a long line but it does move quickly

Yelp
Had this place bookmarked for about 5 years and never had the chance to finally check it out until my recent trip last June. I definitely bookmarked this place when I was *trying* to be the next big InstaFoodie (which worked out very well /s) and saved places based on the glossy presentations (didn't we all?). Plus, black charcoal/black-colored food was the hype. I still dropped by for the sake of my younger self, knowing fully damn well that I may reap the consequences on my next visit to the toilet (thankfully, I did not). I went on a Friday afternoon and was expecting some wait but surprisingly, there was only a small group ahead of me. I don't know if this place has already passed its heyday but I wouldn't be surprised, given how much the food scene in Toronto has evolved into social media-ready establishments. The guy working there was so kind to let me sample all their flavors and create my order with 2 different twists since my indecisive ass had the hardest time deciding. The soft serve was alright; I was pretty underwhelmed and didn't think either of the flavors were bold or distinguished enough, but too much ice cream does tend to numb out your sense of taste at some point. Presentation is obviously 10/10 but the ice cream itself is at best a 6/10.
google avatar

Komal R.

Yelp
Cute asian-inspired ice cream shop. I obviously had to get the Charcoal, Ube and Matcha combo on a Charcoal cone. Very pretty looking but the soft serve was HUGE and I could barely finish it. Unfortunately, the flavors didn't match the looks - all three were pretty OK tasting. Skip unless for the gram!

Yelp
If you are walking around and see someone eating ice cream on a black ice cream sugar cone....you are looking at an iHalo Krunch's signature black cone aficionado..During peak times, you can see a line out the door of eager sweet tooth enthusiasts waiting for their favorite fun ice cream flavor. You can go for that black-on-black look with the coconut charcoal flavor, or try something out of the ordinary with ube (a sweet purple yam), which is what I got. I tried Ube for the first time when our neighbors from the Philippines brought us some ube candy....it was sweet and bold at the same time...Be adventurous and try something really funky....it will be a fun experience. You can also ask for a twist/combo of two flavors for a more striking looking sweet treat. Be ready to spend close to $8-10 for these unique creations. Their cones are made fresh in-house daily, with a traditional waffle base. The color in the cones comes from the activated charcoal they add. Ingredients include: water, eggs, flour, butter, brown sugar, salt, activated charcoal. Activated charcoal (also known as activated carbon), is a natural substance known for its detox properties - derived from coconut husk (shell). The store sources these ingredients from a Canadian health food supplier. Activated charcoal is a form of carbon processed to have small, low-volume pores that increase the surface area for adsorption or chemical reactions. When ingested, activated charcoal binds to toxins which helps to rid the body of unwanted substances. They have both non-dairy and vegan options available.

Yelp
Sigh. I am glad I do not live nearby. I had Ubenut on Pandan. Not sure what Pandan means but it's plant based and the whole thing was Yum Yum Yum Yum! Line moved quickly. Perfect day for ice cream. I opted for the charcoal cone. It is a bit pricey for ice cream but worthy it. Love little place. All in all, have always been a fan!
google avatar

Yelp
Filipino flavored soft serve. I loved the flavors offered here. And the menu has something for everyone since you can mix and match your ice cream. I couldn't decide between charcoal, matcha or ube. So I got all three! What a wonderful treat and each flavour was jam packed with Filipino goodness. I was ecstatic about this place. There is a nice piano and area for instagram pictures too! It's a newer ice cream joint on toronto. But it's probably my favourite and I will have to come back for more! The cherry on top is that it is affordable with a huge portion which is great for sharing for 2 people. I got triple the amount of ice cream than I got at eataly for a tiny scoop of gelato...and it was a great surprise to receive a really good portioned ice cream cone! Love this place.
google avatar

Mary M.

Yelp
What a cute ice cream spot. You can't miss it with all the pink neon signs, piano, stuffed toys and cute pink benches at front. The shop is small so don't be overwhelmed by the line, the wait time isn't that long. We tried a variety of different ice cream in our group. The black on black was my favourite, there's crunchy bits in it. The strawberry tasted like raspberry. Pandan flavour was so refreshing. The price point was reasonable $6-$6.50 for waffle cone. Service was quick and the staff was pleasant. There is street parking available. Overall, really enjoyed the ice cream on a warm summer night.

Hetal M.

Yelp
Finally made it here after how many years of walking past it on queen street. I decided to go for the black on black and it was good! Fair warning - my lips stained, I felt like a kid eating a rocket again! The flavour was interesting but yum! I'd definitely return to try something else this summer.
google avatar

Tanveer K.

Yelp
Absolutely 5/5 for everything! The place has quirky neons signs, a piano and an amazing decor. Looked neat and hygienic. Staff is lovely and This Ice cream can surely solve everything!!! With generous amount of swirls, the Ube Nut is their bestseller. I opted for a cone which was nicely draped to avoid spills. The ice cream texture is buttery and unique, quite filling and doesn't give you a brain freeze. The consistency is amazing and even in a heat wave didn't start dripping until good 5 minutes. I had to skip dinner because it was so filling and nice. Would strongly recommend this ice cream concept and would definitely visit again.

Yelp
some good ice cream. Staff was nice. a small shop buy and go They have 4 main flavours ube matcha vanilla sesame

Yelp
Thanks to a fellow Yelp Elite reviewer, Jurel, we ventured out of our way to try something we'd never tried before: charcoal ice cream and Ube flavored ice cream. I do not even hesitate when I say this was the best ice cream me and my husband have ever had. It was so good we are going back again today. I got the Ube nut which is the Ube mixed with the coconut charcoal and it was incredible. My husband got the same but with vanilla bean on the bottom and wished he had gotten straight Ube nut. Make sure this is a MUST STOP while in Toronto. It wasn't too busy when we stopped on a Friday night either.

Yelp
Greatttttttt place for ice cream, love the soft serve here. Unique flavours and fresh cones
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
Surprisingly impressed by the ice cream here! Got the pandan coconut and taro mix which has coconut bits with every bite. The service was also excellent and I will definitely recommend.
google avatar

Aly F.

Yelp
LOVE!!! I had the pandan/ube combo on a charcoal cone and it was delicious!! Loved it so much we went again the next day.
google avatar

Laureen Y.

Yelp
This is such a cute ice cream shop. Love the decorations. The ice cream was delicious! I got the pandan nut which comes with 3 flavors which are ube, pandan, and charcoal on a charcoal waffle cone. There was no line not busy at all. The employee was so sweet and nice. Will def be coming back here again.
google avatar

Eula B.

Yelp
Whenever I'm in the Queen West area near Bellwoods, i always stop by this place for their amazing creamy ice cream! There're not a lot of ice cream parlour shops that offer ube let alone asian flavours like pandan as well. Served in a one of a kind back cone! This time i got the pandan nut which consists of 3 flavours ube, coconut, ant pandan at the bottom. I got it in a cup to avoid spilling and dripping! The ice cream was so curry and you really taste the flavours of ube, coconut, and pandan! Definitely definitely come here when you're on the area and get any of the ice cream with ube! I highly recommend!

John I.

Yelp
Loved this place! Nothing else like it around. The staff was friendly and although there was a line it went really fast.
google avatar

Kurtis J.

Yelp
Loving the vibes inside. Wasn't too bad a lineup considering it was peak time as well, handled the volume well. This is soft-serve ice cream, so you will get the traditional airy-crystal light appeal so don't feel free to splurge on dessert with a heavy stomach!
google avatar

Matt W.

Yelp
The charcoal cones are a nice touch here, they're unique and unlike any of the standard cones you get at ice cream places around Toronto. The ube flavor is my favorite, but vanilla and charcoal are great flavors as well. The best part is they're all soft serve so there's a perfect swirl everytime. They can stack and mix the flavors as you prefer, and during certain times of the year they have new flavors to try. The only downside is the staining of your lips, tongue, and possibly a color change on the ice cream's way out if you know what I'm laying down!
google avatar

Jonathan W.

Yelp
I'd seen this place with charcoal ice cream posted for the last few years but didn't have much interest as it distinctly felt like a fad generated by social media. But when I was in the area the other day and looking to find treats to my kids and their cousin, I decided to give it a try. I still feel the charcoal aspect is a bit of a gimmick - but I'd even admit that the purple and black twist over the black cone has a nice aesthetic. More importantly however was that the ice cream was quite good and I hadn't realized that the flavours are quite unique. The purple is from a Filipino sweet purple yam (Ube) - which tasted great. It paired perfectly with the coconut ice cream...which was charcoal black. I can't be completely sure, but the ice cream tasted as though the milk was fairly skim. I guess it's up to people whether that's good or bad. It seemed to have a lighter taste and it went well with the flavours - but it certainly wasn't as rich as other soft-serve places such as Dairy Cream or Tom's. I was a bit on the fence in that regard but my wife certainly wished her strawberry she had was creamier. Great service from the staff - especially as she split two regular cups of ice cream into 4 smaller cups when I told her I was buying for kids which was far more practical and economical! She even went out of her way to find a tray that I could carry them out with. Not to worry: I did have a full-sized cone myself.
google avatar

Drea S.

Yelp
So, this place wasn't so packed when we came in. I heard a lot of things about them, so it had my curiously to a peak. Once we accidentally came across it while walking around, I had to come in a give this place a try! I'm not much of an ice cream kind of girl, but this was amazing! I got the activated charcoal ice cream and charcoal cone. My friend got an Ube ice cream with a charcoal cone and let's say this place was worth the hype! We were lucky coming into the place not being so packed! It was worth trying! I'd grab another one when I visit again soon!
google avatar

Michelle N.

Yelp
I love that you can chose multiple flavors especially since I'm indecisive. The ice cream was very tasty. Service is quick. The interior is very cute. I would definitely come again.
google avatar

Woo T.

Yelp
Ube/charcoal swirl on a cone. Sooooo good and creamy. I wish it were easier to find ube ice cream like this where I live. Nicely decorated. Quick service.

Yelp
I didn't actually go to the iHalo Krunch store in downtown to try their ice cream out. We went to their pop-up booth at STC's food festival. With only 1-2 weeks remaining for Street Eats, I'm sure more people will show up for this event. There aren't that many food trucks or booths, but it's worth going if you are in the area. They do limit the number of people who are lining up at the food trucks, and don't allow customers to eat in the area. This is a good thing, at least for physical distancing purposes. I've always wanted to try this place out, maybe because the ice cream looks IG worthy lols. Anyways, one ice cream cone costs around $6-7 which is quite steep. The cone itself looks really pretty, but I don't think it offers anything taste wise. In terms of ice cream flavours, I was quite impressed with ube. Ube is sweet purple yam; the flavour is subtle and doesn't overwhelm you at all. I like that. As for black on black, it's supposed to be coconut mixed with activated charcoal - I did not taste any of that lols. I'd like to try their matcha in the future, heck I'd be open to trying all their flavours. I don't really know any other place that has ube so I give this store a thumbs up! If you aren't looking to take pretty pictures, you can opt for a cup and save maybe $1 lols.
google avatar

Pratishtha A.

Yelp
Loved the ubenut soft serve. It has a nice coconut undertone to it. Must try. The cone is okay can be skipped. Totally recommend the icecream Pic worthy definitely
google avatar

Justine S.

Yelp
Original and aesthetically pleasing ice cream. I love the black cone, it is beautiful. Sadly, it did not taste good, at all. I got the swirl taro, charcoal, and vanilla cone and it was very good but the vanilla ice cream I did not like. So basically once I had eaten the top half, I just threw away the cone and the vanilla ice cream. Other than that, a really great ice cream place! They were fast, the menu is simple, and it's cute to take pictures! I'm a sucker for ice cream places that have a neon sign.
google avatar

Anni D.

Yelp
Loved the ube soft serve!!! First time checking it out and wanted to try all the flavours. The matcha nut had coconut, ube and matcha. Ube was by far my favourite. Will be back for the Ube all the way!
google avatar

Chuan C.

Yelp
Their ice cream along with the black cone is amazing. They have many flavours and keep creating new ones and new combinations (giving nice picture-worthy cones). Their signature black cone is naturally coloured with activated charcoal (derived from coconut husk) and hand-rolled daily with a sweet treat at the bottom of the cone (which prevents the bottom from getting soggy and leaky). They serve single flavours, twists of 2 flavours, and combos of flavours. They are a sensation in Toronto! Because the Toronto Raptors are in the NBA Finals, they even created a Raptors Swirl flavour. This location, inside the Annex Food Hall, is their 3rd or 4th location (they keep popping up so quickly!). The food hall itself offers free WiFi.

Yelp
This place has been on my list for so long and I finally got to experience it! I loved visiting this spot. Not only were their menu items so tasty but the store was cute and the staff, friendly. This store is their new location. I got their Ube Bubble Tea and Rainbow (aka All-in) ice-cream soft serve. The Breakdown: 1. Rainbow ice-cream on Charcoal Cone: - Top to bottom: Black on Black; Ube Nut; Strawberry Milk; Bean There, Done That, Meet Your Matcha - All flavours were so yummy especially the Meet Your Matcha (aren't the names so cute?) - The cone was crunchy and sweet. It has marshmallows at the end too 2. Ube Bubble Tea - Made with ice-cream (Bean There, Done That ice-cream) - The drink was milky and rich with yummy ube. It was refreshing for my first Ube boba! Follow @debeats_ on Instagram for more fun eats!
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Aesthetically pleasing and Equally delicious. Worth the line up every time! Ube and charcoal mix: ube nut is my favourite.
google avatar

Tammy N.

Yelp
I got this during their initial pop up before they had renovated. I got the ube and charcoal twist (ube haze). It tastes mostly like vanilla to be honest but is very pretty and instagram worth! Make sure to check your mouth after because wow that charcoal adhered to my teeth really well even after swishing with wated Also melted so fast and was all over my hands within minutes. I'd say try it to quench your curiosity, but I didn't find a need or craving to come back again another time
google avatar

Michael S.

Yelp
Was walking by this food court On Bloor and right in front saw charcoal ice cream so had to try it. The guy working was very friendly. Get the $5 ice cream special. I liked the charcoal ice cream. It's very slightly icy or maybe that's the charcoal , tastes like subtle coconut or as another person said sesame. the menu says so I assume that is what it is! The black sugar cone is also good and I think has a similar taste! I'll try it again but another flavor they may be creamier.
google avatar

Sue S.

Yelp
came here spontaneously while visiting toronto while walking around and saw that everyone had an ice cream cone from here and wanted it myself. there was no line and they allow you to taste try before you buy. i personally got the matcha, strawberry & ube and i really liked it. the consistency was a bit weird to get used to but overall, each flavor was very delish & full. definitely recommend for people to try it out!
google avatar

Jodi F.

Yelp
Couldn't quite picture what charcoal ice cream would taste like, not a black waffle cone. But now that we visited while in Toronto, it has me hoping we get charcoal ice cream in the Detroit area. This was fabulous. And I'd come back next time I'm here. I can't even explain the taste other than to say it was unique, somewhat sweet but not too sweet. And just fun and pretty. Really enjoyed this! I will say it was on the pricy side but it didn't deter me.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
I'm not always a big fan of soft service so I'd never been interested in checking out iHalo until a friend strongly recommended we get some after dinner. I am so glad he did because this soft serve is THE BOMB! I am in love with the ube-nut twist. It is delicious!!! The flavours really come out without being overly sweet. I could care less about the charcoal cone haha but I will admit it's a cool aesthetic. One day they ran out of charcoal cones so they were just giving out waffle cones for no extra charge with ice cream orders. So glad it exists. Also the piano inside is cute, you can play it while waiting :)
google avatar

Michelle D.

Yelp
Still one of my most favourite ice cream places. Ube nut is always my go to- last time I had their matcha and it wasn't as flavourful. I'm not sure if they've added more matcha now. The prices are $6 for a cup and $6.50 for a cone. Delicious charcoal cone with marshmallow fluff!
google avatar

Nadia A.

Yelp
I will say that it is pricey there's only one size you can choose between a cup or a code and with tax it is $7.55 Because they are quite unique there's no other soft serve that is doing what they're doing I understand why they can't charge premium prices I decided to go with the charcoal flavor and the matcha flavor on a cone I am not a soft serve ice cream girl but I will say that this ice cream was extremely creamy and I did enjoy the flavors they were Rich if I had to choose I preferred you matcha it was a little bit more rich in flavor than the charcoal but both were super creamy However for some reason I can't put my finger on it but I didn't like the cone I don't know why but I don't think that it complimented the ice cream well if I were to go again I would definitely get it in a cup
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
This review is based on my experience at a popup location at Lululemon. Disclaimer: I have this thing about UBE.... So I love most of the desserts that made with ube. I am not here for that IG photo as the ice cream melt so fast if you don't start licking it once served. Ube and Nut twist is quite pretty and the flavour combination is great. The cone is nice and crispy. There was no line up at all when I dropped by on a Wednesday afternoon. (+0.5 ) For $7 a little pricey for a soft serve. Worth a try if there is no line up. Seriously, people really line up for 45 minute for that?!
google avatar

Yelp
Happiness in a cone. While the taro flavour is not as pronounced as certain brand of taro ice cream, it was still overall a four out of five on the ice cream happiness scale. Joy molecules were jumping for join! Yummy ice cream, happy day!

Yelp
Good place to quench your sweet tooth. Taste was ok. But ice cream really looked good.
