12 Best Cafés and Coffee Shops in Istanbul | Condé Nast Traveler

"Located right next to the historic Spice Bazaar and run by sixth-generation roaster Aslı Tapucu, this shop—opened in 1871—retains original decor like exposed stone walls, brass dispensaries and scratched weighing scales; a roasting room at the back fills the space with wafts of cinnamon, caramel and vanilla, and the coffee is famed for a distinct maple flavour because beans are still roasted on a century-old cast-iron Probat machine; visitors can buy beans in-store and check Instagram for onsite events where you can sample coffee or even learn to make ink from coffee grounds." - Amelia Dhuga

☕️ Back in January during my Istanbul trip, I passed a specialty coffee bean store and noticed a very long line of the locals so I figured it must be good! 😆 I bought some coffee beans; one was from Kenya 🇰🇪,recommended by the seller. It turned out to be strong and too sour for my liking so I’ve been trying to use it up quickly. The other beans were from Colombia 🇨🇴; I just brewed it today and…omg amazingggg 😳😻 The service was dry but well…it’s Turkey.

I tried number of Turkish coffees brands including the most famous one that nearly all tourists buy which is “Kurukahveci Mehmet Efendi” but I can say that this is the best one. Whenever I visit Istanbul I usually buy at least 4 boxes. The only thing that it is only available at their store so you won’t find it anywhere else.

Great coffee. Fresh roasting. Coffee from all over the world

Egor Kamaev

One of the best coffee brands in Turkey. The flavour is rich, the price is more than affordable. Always take a couple of jars to drink it at home. The shop itself is stylish and there are a plenty of different options to buy there.

I found this place by accident and I decided to buy coffe. It has the best prices compared to other similar coffe shops and they still use the old machine in which they roast coffe beans in wood. The coffee is very good!

A great smell and taste owned by the same family, still doing it precisely with the old school methods as started in 1871. Roasting it in wood fire in the old owens. Only a min from the spice bazaar. Try cocoa as well !! Also the building is a historical masterpiece, just look up and admire the details !
