"Located on the north end of Tulum's beach road, which is closest to the entrance of the ruins, Ikal is a lively, hip spot that offers community events like Brazilian capoeira lessons, yoga, spiritual lectures, and eclectic live music. It is also an extremely kid-friendly hotel with weekly events designed especially for children relating to yoga, music, and art."

The best hotel I have ever been. The ambiance of the hotel was amazing. It seemed like you were in the jungle. We stayed in the tree house and it was beautiful. We particularly liked the pool too. The restaurant was just fine. It is for sure overpriced for the quality, as we expected from the reviews and the hotel should definitely improve both the quality and the prices. Matcha mamma was also overpriced but I loved the açai the matcha and the cold brew too. Unfortunately the water had too much seaweed so we didn’t enjoy the water but it was not the hotels fault. As far as the service is concerned, everyone we talked to was very helpful and friendly, so I really did not experience any of those negative comments regarding the staff. Personally my experience was excellent

Very special place, can’t wait to go back! This was our third time staying at the hotel and the best visit so far - seems like management has made many changes for the better. Many thanks to receptionist Eliana for going above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Throughout your stay reception stays in touch via WhatsApp which makes it easy if you need anything or have questions. We appreciated the complementary mosquito spray and aloe vera. You are in a jungle, so do note there are a ton of mosquitos outside, lizards, bugs, birds and beautiful wildlife. They had lots of activities - yoga, ice baths, cacao ceremonies, astrology readings, mezcal tastings. Loved just lounging on the swinging beds, walking barefoot in the powdery white sands. You can take the electric shuttle easily to the ruins or other spots on the beach. The restaurant has amazing food - we loved the golden milk latte and fish tacos. It is pricy for Mexico, but that’s expected due to the location and the luxury. The server Franky did a great job, didn’t have any issues with him asking for additional tips - honest, fast. We did miss the whole fresh Seabass that we ordered on previous stays as well as Matcha Mama which was closed - they have great smoothie bowls. My only feedback would be - please consider making the hotel’s main entry steps (next to reception) more accessible for those with limited mobility - the irregular, rickety, floating planks are difficult to navigate. Some boards were even loose and wiggling - dangerous for anybody. And please bring back the live music in the restaurant - there were musicians in the evenings during our previous days and we missed that on this trip. The music was so good. Note that you must pay entry to the park - about $40 USD for our entry via car for 4 nights, then about $5 USD per person every day you enter the park via car before 5pm (after is free). It’s a special place, and I imagine the fee goes towards conserving the nature and beauty of the park.

Wow, this place is amazing!! Already from driving in the Jaguar Park, it feels different, and after 10 minutes of slow driving while seeing the viewpoints and the other hotels, we arrived at this paradise. The sand is white, and the path to the beach is through a small forest tunnel. In the center, there is a big shaded space where you have yoga and meditation in the morning, and next to it, the restaurant, a smoothie bar, and the pool!!! But the best part is the rooms, we took the tree house, and it was the best decision ever, even though I’m sure the other rooms are unique as well. That’s a place I would love to return to soon and enjoy the peace and quiet this place has to offer. To get into the park, there is a daily fee until 5 p.m. There are awesome iguanas that walk all around, and the shower is on the balcony between the trees, definitely gives the feeling of being part of nature.

It is an amazing place to stay! The whole facility is within a natural park and it if you like nature it is definitely worth it! We really liked also the bungalows and we enjoyed our stay! The personnel is very friendly and willing to help and we would like also to thank Ed for all the useful information and the help he gave us!

We recently spent a few nights at IKAL and though the rooms and the general grounds are gorgeous, we couldn’t help but leave disappointed with our stay. The rooms themselves are beautiful with fabulous views and unique architecture. The issues lie with the air conditioning and bugs. The bathrooms are not fully enclosed and the rooms have decent gaps allowing cool air to escape. One night, we lost power in the room. We never received any updates or timeline for power restoration and the only communication we received was the hotel asking for patience on the matter. The loss of power meant we were unable to shower at night, unable to charge any devices, and no AC or fan. With the heat and humidity, the room became unbearably hot making the simple task of sleep an enormous challenge. We tried sleeping with the door open, but with no mosquito net, we found ourselves covered in bug bites (even though we applied copious amounts of insect repellent throughout the night). Upon check out, we were never offered any form of compensation nor a basic apology for the huge inconvenience. When we pressed, after much discussion between the staff and a general annoyance that we even hinted we weren’t completely satisfied with our stay, they ended up refunding the final day’s park bracelets—a drop in the bucket based on our experience. The other thing of note: the restaurant service. No matter what meal or what time of day, items from the menu were always out of stock or unavailable. The service was minimal at best, and the mandatory 15% minimum tip leaves you with a poor taste. The food itself was fine (just don’t order dessert), but there are plenty of wonderful restaurants just a short walk up and down the beach with great options at better prices. Final thoughts: it’s truly a shame the service is so severely lacking. IKAL is a beautiful hotel complex, but perhaps a bit more basic/rustic than anticipated and certainly not on par in the service department with other hotels in Tulum and the greater Yucatán peninsula.

If you love being close to nature this is a perfect place, be prepared for mosquitoes. Also even with a mini compressor and water cooler the room was only cool at night and struggled at times, but that’s where the plunge pool in our cabana came in clutch! Staff super accommodating and friendly! Also wish we had time to use our free yoga class as the setting is perfect, we will definitely recommend and want to come back! Also we bought the park wristbands at the front desk and the park officials only marked them once so only had to pay for them the one time. Hint: you can enter the park without purchasing a wristband if you show your hotel reservation.

Overall fantastic experience. The little huts or rooms were charming. The service was great. I would 100% come back and stay here

Peaceful and relaxing boutique hotel. It offers very nice daily activities from yoga classes to ice bath to many others. The beach is beautiful, food is really good and the rooms are perfect for a romantic getaway. Finally , the service is incredible. A big shout out to Alan and Elena who have been super helpful and making incredible recommendations. The only annoying thing is that we had to pay around 100$ as fees to enter and exit the national park where the hotel is located
