Ikawa Ryokan

Pro: Very friendly staff and good location downtown near the peace memorial Con: Very cold room without having the AC on permanently. Water everywhere in the bathroom and on the windows after using the shower. Room seems contantly wet and there was mold everywhere which lead to an unclean impression overall. Space is large enough but cupboard is occupied with an additional bed.

While this is by no means a higher end hotel it is a very quaint and personal hotel. The rooms are very decent size for this area. We stayed in a room that has 2 beds. Western style mattresses. The room has a TV, fridge, AC, tub, and 2 windows. My daughter stayed in a different area with a mat and futon mattress bed. It has a shared bathroom with stalls and a shower room with stalls. Each room also has a TV, fridge, and window. The shared rooms served 3 or 4 hotel rooms so not bad at all. The owner is absolutely fantastic. We got back today and she said "welcome home." The location is great and everything you need is easily walkable.

It's nice that It's a traditional hotel with tatami mats for sleeping. Clean enough and 20 minutes from center and 5 from big supermsrket. You can hear a lot of sounds, walls are tin, luckely after 9 you had to be silent.

I was travelling with a group, so I didn't choose it myself.||The location is excellent. It is close to the Peace park, a big shopping mall/area and the stop for the streetcar/tram. The is a supermarket and a bakery close by. ||I stayed in the New Ikawa building. The building has both stairs and an elevator.||The rooms are nice and clean. We had a traditional room with futons. There are nog regular chairs or something, but there was a floortable and some cusions. They offered complementary shampoo, bodywash and conditioner. And you could borrow the provided nightshirts.||You can ask for the staff not to clean the room and they will leave out clean towels and such.||If have problems with getting up or sitting on the floor, this place is not for you.||The staff is nice.||There is small area where you can sit, but no additional place to eat as you can't use the dinning area or the microwave for your own food.||I recommend a stay at this ryokan!

Great basic ryokan in a good location. You can walk to all the main sights in Hiroshima and I stayed in a room with a tatami mat floor and futon bedding. Very clean and has all you’ll need.

We booked one of their twin rooms and not the ryokan room. It was one of the most spacious rooms on our Japan trip. Very clean and a nice private bathroom. The couple that runs the place were awesome. Very short easy walk to the Peace Park. Convenient to transportation also. They stored our bags for us while we toured. We loved the couple that ran this place and found them to be very nice. Would stay here again.

This Ryokan was just brilliant. The owner was a lovely lady who showed us the room first and we were happy to pay for it. The Ryokan is in a really good location. Not too far from the central part of town. It's in good walking distance from the tourist attractions and shopping. Everything was incredibly neat and clean, the futons were immaculate. We were welcomed home when we got back from shopping. Everything was just amazing about this place. I wish we had found it sooner.

Hiroshima is a great city to visit and this Hotel is perfectly located to see the city. Unfortunately the rooms stank, in some cases so bad that people felt sicl.
