"Hej! The Swedish meca of home furnishings (and potential relationship grief) is open in Midtown, in its full blue and yellow glory. First time? You won't be in and out. Countless home displays full of eye candy, a vast marketplace of affordable essentials and a cafe offering those famous meatballs (even vegetarian ones); you'll easily kill an afternoon. A few tips: it's busier on the weekends, paper tape measures/pencils/item sheets for notes are around every corner, and make sure to bring a shopping bag else you'll spending a buck on those iconic blue bags to haul your goodies home. Hej då!" - Manifest

Loved the restaurant, very specious, with a variety of seating from family style dinner tables to cozy reading nooks on the opposite side of the restaurant that bring a cozy vibe. Unfortunately, I did not have a chance to explore the entire store, only a few areas, including the As-Is department which is a must on every Ikea trip. Definitely a different layout compared to the Chicagoland area stores.

Came to get a quick bite and a piece of their delicious chocolate cake, because we don’t have an IKEA in Louisville and we were disappointed. The entrée was fine, but the cases that stocked all of the desserts and salads were 90% empty. When I asked one of the servers if they were going to be bringing out more cake their answer was “we’ll try, but we were very busy today” and they did not bring any cake out. This was at 4:30 PM, and they are open until 9 PM. Hmmm. At 5 o’clock, there were 15 people in line, too, but still no cake. Update: 5. 5 p.m., still no salads and just a couple pieces of apple cake and a few dome-shaped desserts.

Indoor and outdoor parking. Lots to look at! Top level is little rooms with individual set ups like apartments. Kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, dorms, offices, etc. When that round is finished you see the cafeteria with different meals to choose from or side items. You cannot substitute. Soda is not full sugar/ name brand. On the lower level are all the smaller items to buy that day that you can handle. They have a more industrial section and then the check out near another snack bar. We walked away with a couple household items including pillow covers all for under $30.

DO NOT ORDER FROM IKEA ONLINE FOR DELIVERY. Had a rug and salad spinner delivered. Not sure who in their right mind would pack those two together expecting the small, plastic item to come out fine in delivery. It’s obviously broken and IKEA can’t refund the salad spinner because the rug is over $50 - absolutely baffling.

Beautiful dining area and very convenient to grab a meal while shopping. Kids friendly—— play station, single use bibs, high chairs and family bathroom with kid’s sink.

I placed a $1,300 order with in-home delivery, after three reschedules and endless waiting on calls, still never receive my order. No one at IKEA seems to care. They’ve wasted our time, energy, and money without any accountability. Their products are overpriced for the quality they offer, and their customer service is beyond terrible

Kim and a manager I missed the name of helped us get a temporary card. They were so fast and efficient we were amazed at their customer service! Fantastic start to our shopping expedition. Next Alicia helped us fill out a Dolly application which wasn't even her job, even after her manager, Edd shrugged us off. She was very kind and proficient. Later, she helped us again with a regular home delivery which was part of her job. She did fantastic and I barely had to wait. Renalda helped me as a cashier twice. Since I had a temporary card, check out was a little complicated. We worked through it together and she was very patient even while I was making stupid mistakes. Several people helped us shop throughout our trip. All in all, Ikea is my favorite furniture store and all the employees, except Edd, where fantastic at their jobs.

Yelp
I always forget about how much I love ikea until I'm there and get lost in the display room and marketplace. I came here on a Tuesday afternoon and there was not crowded, which is always a plus. I need some glassware for an upcoming event and figured this would be the most affordable place to grab some- and I was mostly correct! Upon entrance, there's an escalator, cart rack, an elevator, and double doors. I didn't have a ton of time and knew I needed to go right to the marketplace. I usually go through the display room first, and it was semi confusing to find the marketplace in its own. A couple people weren't sure where to go, so it might be a common issue. I think a bigger door and more visible signage would be super helpful! I found my way to the glassware and found some good options. These will be used for cocktails, and the super cute whiskey ones are available for $3 a piece. I grabbed a couple of those, I thought they would look great. They have some other basic options they sell in a larger pack. I got a 6 pack of 8oz glasses for around $8. They also have some martini glasses which seem to be great quality. All in all, they have something for every price range. I didn't have a ton of time to look through everything as I would have liked, but I am planning on coming back very soon. I just purchased a house and think this will be a great spot to find some goodies!

Yelp
Huge and well stocked store. From furniture to home decor, they have almost everything. Store employees are very helpful and love that's there is always security inside and outside of the building for safety. Only giving 4 stars instead of 5 because I came during lunchtime during the week and the hot food selection in cafe was lacking. I really wanted one of those cheap hotdogs, LOL.

Yelp
IKEA is my go-to for my Snake Plants. They have the best prices....hands down!!!! My home is filled with mother-in-law-tongues of all sizes. IKEA has sizes ranging from mini, when they are in stock, to small, medium and large. I mostly buy the large ones because they are priced at $19.99 and $17.99 when on sale. I also just walking through the store on occasion to look for home ideas or items I never knew I needed, didn't really need but purchased anyway. I look for kitchen gadgets, pillows and plant accessories. My sister has purchased two identical sofa sleepers from here. For all the bad rap IKEA receives for it's furniture, I must say that those sofa sleepers are incredible comfortable and durable. I had to sleep on one for two weeks when I lost power from the storms. The sofa sits extremely wide so there was no need to pull out the bed and it was so comfortable and spacious. Then I have also sat on the sofa over my sisters house when she pulls it out wider as a lounge for the tv room and again that sofa is cushiony soft and very comfortable. I love it!!!! If the material weren't cloth I'd definitely purchase one myself and the price is GREAT. I only buy leather furniture because I have a fur-baby. On the occasion I will wonder over to the food court to checkout the action. I've tried the meatball plate of course, can't go to IKEA for the first time and not try the ikonic meatball plate. I thought it wasn't bad. This IKEA doesn't always have a variety of food options to choose from. On the second floor at the fast service food stand I've tried the cinnamon roll, not good at all to me. They have strawberry ice-cream listed but none available. I think IKEA has reasonable prices with a reasonable selection, it's definitely worth checking out for your home finds or dormitory needs.

Yelp
Service was fast! They had a pretty decent selection of food but since I needed something quick to eat, I opted for Chicken Tenders instead of the Swedish Meatballs plate. It was seriously the best chicken tenders I've ever had at a place that is not primarily a restaurant. I will defintely be back just for the tenders lol

Zhenya B.

Yelp
My family and I came here today to buy a few things and to get my kids favorite thing- food. After partial shopping went to the restaurant area. My twins got Mac and cheese and peas, nice touch on peas today, they mixed in green beans, both toddlers refused to eat the peas because of it. Definately small portion of macaroni and I had to go back to get more. Husband got cod and loved it and I got meatballs and they were perfect.

Lori B.

Yelp
I love shopping at IKEA. Need a bed? They got you. Need sheets? They got you. Need forks or spatulas? They got you. Need plants? Real or fake? Oh wait, they got you. Need lunch after shopping for all that stuff? Guess what? Yep. They got you. Staff is helpful. Their stuff is awesome. Putting it together is not difficult at all. And the meatballs, mashed potatoes and gravy make it the best place to shop for stuff around!

Cassandra S.

Yelp
Super great store! Keep in mind you get what you pay for it. It's not always the best quality, but it will work for various projects. The return policy is also very great on because you don't have to keep your receipt. You can sign up for a card and all your receipts are tractors up. You're doing a lot of projects. It's a great way to keep things organized and you don't have to worry about if you lose a receipt. The cinnamon rolls are amazing. It's the only food I like at this facility and it is delicious.

Brittany W.

Yelp
Reason I didn't make this 1 star is because I DO like IKEA- I have a good amount of IKEA furniture at home, they have quality items (although this location seems to be out of stock on a lot when I visit) this store is just an experience in itself. It's a tradition to get meatballs & cranberry sauce at the food court whenever visiting IKEA. This is rated based solely off my experience the last time being there; I drove over an hour away to get some lightbulbs and a plant. Two areas I specifically went to avoiding the showroom; at some point when bending down looking at lightbulbs on the lowest shelf, my phone fell out of my pocket. I didn't hear it. We're checking out, as I'm finishing up to leave I notice my phone isn't in my pocket anymore. I told the employee by self checkout I needed to find my phone, but the manager noticed me heading back to the shopping area and stopped me. It was 9pm and nobody was allowed back there anymore, I just told her my phone was back by the lightbulbs most likely and if someone could escort me back there that would be great. She said no, that one of her employees was checking the area to see if there were any more people. She never told him to check where my phone is at. I was visibly upset and I understand they have a policy, but my phone was gone and I just needed to get it before leaving it there all night and having to come back the next day. Another employee told me they opened at 9am the next day (wrong, they opened at 10am) but I hurried the next morning before work to get my phone from here thanks to the lady who never helped. They still did not let me in at 9am, due to their policy. I knocked on the window to get some help, and the morning workers were ignoring me. They threw their hands up, thinking I was trying to shop, when simply I needed help trying to get my phone. Another employee seen I was visibly upset about all this, so he went to grab their security to help. Thanks to the security, they looked and found my phone exactly where it was at, by the lights. It was such a hassle trying to get my phone, I waisted the next morning driving back to STL and another hour for someone to acknowledge me. But thankfully, some of the employees here WERE helpful and kind. This review is because the manager from the night before, shame on her for not actually trying to find it or contacting her co workers to look for it like I requested, where it may be. It did not take long. I would come back here, I don't base my whole view on Ikea on this one time, but I didn't have the most pleasant experience here the last time.

Audrey B.

Yelp
I haven't found this Ikea to be different than any other Ikea. It's well-stocked, massive, and fun to explore/browse. It's easy to navigate if you pull up the app on your phone or use the tablets in the stock area. They can be overpriced but can also have great deals. Look out for promotions. Love the cinnamon buns and swedish foods.

Hannah M.

Yelp
If you've never been to an IKEA, you should know it's overwhelming. The store is designed so you walk through a ton of sample rooms, the cafeteria and end up in the warehouse portion where you pick up any items you want. It is an experience, and knowing you'll spend at least an hour walking through the store is important! I love wandering around looking at all of the room set ups. I've also bought a few items from this IKEA and they have been great! Are they top of the line furniture? No. Did I want to scream at my boyfriend while self-assembling them? Yes. But I anticipated both of those things when I bought from here! The price makes it worth it. We have a couple of dressers and a bedside table - both work and have held up for a while. Great for furnishing rooms without breaking the bank like you might at a fancier furniture place. I for one love their Swedish meatballs. I get them every time - the sweet and savory of the gravy and jam with them is so good. The rest of the food there is okay but nothing special.

Yelp
The worst Ikea in the world ever. Maybe this happened after pandemic? Hopefully they will get their "ships" together! First, I saw some furniture online, made sure they are in stock. We went there and everything in the store has unavailable/oversold labels on.Their website is misleading. Then found a couch "says" available.Went to their storage floor downstairs to grab it.Tried for 2 different furniture and they were sold out too!Dont trust their markings either! Then we were trying to pay and learned that we had to grab a piece of paper from someone to pickup a chair from their warehouse area-Piece of paper?! What century is this?! They overcharged us too btw, then their refund process was a nightmare. We lost lots of lots of time. This place is so frustrating.Their employee has no idea about what they are doing.Cherry on top: Way super expensive for an "available" crappy furniture!

Yelp
Regarding the customer service pickup desk: why are you so hostile? Multiple unpleasant encounters, lots of talking, very little working, and nasty desk people. I dread dealing with them but sometimes it's just unavoidable.

DeeDee A.

Yelp
I used to like Ikea, but since COVID, it's a trial just to go there. Haven't shopped for furniture in a long time, so this applies to the kitchen utensils and other items on that floor. 1. The shelves are woefully understocked and chaotic. 2. When I look online to see if something is in stock, they will say it's there, but it isn't, even when I get there just as the store opens, so big old wasted trip. 3. Yesterday was the first time I had to use the self-checkout and had a lot of trouble. The employee in charge ignored me, walked away, or gave incomplete info and then walked away. I begged her to just check me out but she wouldn't. She was not otherwise busy with other customers. (Don't know her name, but she's a tall blonde woman with an accent; I would guess she's actually Swedish.) An employee from a different area finally did help me. I'm an old woman with a cane BTW. 4. A few weeks ago I was personally disrespected by 2 employees who were super nice to the customers behind me. They were offering info or samples to people but not to me. (I'm not paranoid; I have never felt like this anywhere else.) I'm sure there's more but this should do for now.

Mary M.

Yelp
Who doesn't love IKEA? This store is laid out nicely, the showrooms aren't a never ending maze. I always find what I'm looking for.

Amaris P.

Yelp
These showrooms are amazing. Makes you want to redecorate your home, and buy everything from IKEA. And they have everything to let you do so! I love coming here for kitchen items and storage bins. I would like to come back to look at some lighting as well. It's definitely the type of place that you want to set aside an entire afternoon, if not entire day, to visit so that you can look at everything, as there is so much to look at. And don't worry about getting hungry or thirsty, they also have a cafe area with food. This is the part of our trip that my companion and I liked the least, actually. There was a very unwelcoming atmosphere from the employees working the lines, and as we stood in the slow line with trays, my companion jokingly pointed out this must be what it feels like to get food in a prison line! On top of that the food must have loads of processing and preservatives or MSG because it made us feel awful heartburn and stomach aches later, which are not usual issues with us. Next time we will bring some to-go snacks! Overall, definitely a fun outing with friends or just to brainstorm some decorating ideas!

Steven B.

Yelp
I'll admit, I am not a fan of RTA furniture. I'll buy it on occasion, but it's not my thing. However, one area that I love about IKEA is their home goods. When I shop their kitchen accessories, I can always find something and it will be at an affordable price. Another thing that I put in my shopping cart at IKEA is the Cinnamon Rolls. They are so tasty for a weekend breakfast or even better, on Christmas morning. One thing that IKEA does need to be praised for is their displays. How they tell you the square footage and then show you what can be done is so amazing and creative. Why: New kitchen gadgets

Jason P.

Yelp
Cold weather and social distancing have locked so many of us inside with very little to do. Sitting in our living room one night, my boyfriend and I noticed that the space could use a breath of new life. Thus began a new home project to keep our minds occupied. And to IKEA we went. The nice thing about IKEA is not just the $1 ice cream cones and scent of cinnamon rolls wafting through the air, but the amount of inspiration they provide. Say what you will about the quality of IKEA furniture or the prevalence of their shelves in dorm rooms across the country, their products are popular for a reason!! IKEA does a great job of staying on top of interior design trends while also offering so many classic and timeless looks. I love walking through the showroom and imagining how pieces of each display may look in my space. All of their products are so customizable that you can truly mix and match spaces without a degree in interior design. On this particular trip to IKEA, we were looking for a new floor lamp and hanging light fixture. The sheer amount of lights available at IKEA is staggering. And to top it off, you can customize so many of the lamps by selecting a base and different shade. I love that they offer so many items that can appease just about anyone's decor tastes. We selected an incredibly interesting lamp shade that had gold film inside that is visible through slits in the shade. So pretty! It was the perfect addition to our living room. My biggest piece of wisdom to share... coming from someone who has always lived near an IKEA... go on a Tuesday night. I know right now it's dark and cold out when you get home from work and you're tempted to just curl up on the couch and watch some Schitt's Creek repeats. But. Go on a Tuesday night and you'll thank me. There are basically no other customers and you can really take your time looking for the perfect pieces for your space.

Drew R.

Yelp
IKEA is not just a furniture/ housewares store it's an experience. A massive maze of a warehouse store. I always enjoy shopping here and can usually find what I need though COVID logistics challenges have definitely had an impact. This visit the Billie bookshelf I've wanted was in stock. I find the furniture to be easy to assemble with useful instructions and all the components.

Carey M.

Yelp
No frozen foods in stock and no mention on website that they were under construction. Horrible experience. Waste of a trip.

John L.

Yelp
These guys had a serious lack of inventory, happy with purchase overall. It was missing instructions but I was able to look that up on ikeas website.

Christina K.

Yelp
This place is absolute magic. I'm going back whenever I need renovation ideas because the show room area has so many cute yet functional setups. There was quite a bit out of stock though, which you don't know until you've left the show area for the warehouse part. I'll definitely be back again, I'm just hopeful more things are in stock!

Doken S.

Yelp
IKEA is great for more affordable furniture with solid options. The only con is putting everything together yourself, but that is found at any ikea and allows things to be as affordable as they are. For this particular site: Good customer service. Lots of options. Food is cooked well. Organized. I love stopping in for a little decor item or lunch.

Kat S.

Yelp
If I could give negative stars here, I would! If you have to get anything delivered from IKEA, Run! Don't walk. They use a delivery company called, XPO Logistics and they are the most incompetent people to deal with, ever! They are not customer friendly, care nothing about your time as a consumer. They are adamant about their delivery schedule and set us up for delivery between 3-7pm. That was great, so we thought. They even confirmed it twice. Then they showed up hours early, about 4 hours in fact, of course we weren't home! They made it our problem and wouldn't come back. Then scheduled us for 10 days later! Buyer Beware! Do not schedule delivery through IKEA! Worst delivery company Ever!

DW S.

Yelp
May the good Lord save you if you have to wait for furniture at the furniture pick up. They are beyond slow.

Lottie F.

Yelp
Shopped IKEA stores for 20+ years, always a good experience. Furniture has lasted. Spend more time training teams in returns and delivery... it involves more empathy and kindness, along with transactional steps.

Donna W.

Yelp
Absolutely ridiculous long lines in the cold that didnt seem to move. Staff was rude and was in no hurry to move people along. I wont go back. Fuck you ikea.

Crystal A.

Yelp
I would give no stars if that was an option. CURBSIDE PICK UP - Buyer Beware!!!!!!! I ordered online for the click and pick. The order sat in picking status online for 3 days. So I went to the store to see if it was ready. I figured after 3 days it was ready and someone forgot to update the picking status. When I arrived and texted them for pick up a man came down and told me the order had been cancelled because they only hold them for that day. No where did it say that orders will only be held for 1 day. I asked to speak with a supervisor and he came over and told me I should have got an email stating it was cancelled due to no pick up. I clicked the order confirmation email and long behold the email now said cancelled. He said I should see a refund in 7-10 days, What "7-10 days to refund me for something you only held for pick up for less than 24 hours. LONG STORY short. I was charged $310 on my card on 10/20/2020 and as of 11/5/20 no refund. Corporate stated that the credit card processing will take another week to get my refund. Please be patient he asked. I think I have.

Benjamin C.

Yelp
Went here August 2020. Great customer service. Larry and some dude with a ponytail were very helpful.

Chris A.

Yelp
Go outside find a dog and pick up there shit and try and build a bed frame with it that's what there material is made of also don't even think for a second you can return shit especially with there 90 after purchase shit your frame break cause if shut quality fuck you ikea sucks and so does Sweden.

Halli G.

Yelp
The absolute worst place on the face of the planet. Unless you want full blown anxiety and a waste of time walking through this living hell, don't go here. Not worth the cheap prices.

Is O.

Yelp
absolutely ridiculous, may 17, bought a BRIMNES bed frame. not worth the 230 bucks. it broke within a month just from sitting on it. sitting on it. what the fuck else are you supposed to do on a bed? so my boyfriend and i needed to return it. we called to make sure it was fine, and the person told us they would turn it in for scrap. There was no pick up service either to help get it back to the store, and it's impossible to take it apart in one piece. so we had to break it down. the return person was not helpful at all. and her bosses said they don't take "damaged stuff" like what the hell how else was i supposed to get your shitty product back to your store? it was an absolute waste of time and money. do not shop here. it's not worth it. shit breaks at the touch of a finger. it's made of fucking plywood. don't waste your money here.

Pam V.

Yelp
Went to IKEA to get a desk. We had some questions and needed assistance. Could not find anyone to ask. Finally after searching for about fifteen minutes, found someone. I asked her if she could help with questions about a desk. Not her department, had to call someone. Went back over by the desks and waited and waited and waited. Finally an employee comes buzzing by. I had to stop him and ask if he could assist with questions regarding a desk. Not at all friendly, no smile, and said "well I work the whole store". How am I supposed to know that. Other girl could not. Showed him a picture of a desk on my phone that we were interested in and asked if they had it in stock. He said "well did you see it on the floor?" I told him no, but wanted to make sure I was not overlooking it as they have stuff all over the place. So rude. I will never go back. Which I am sure they could care less. Got no desk and absolutely no decent help.

Syephen G.

Yelp
I went to pick up an on-line order for my daughter. She forwarded me two emails she received from IKEA. The first seemed to be the acknowledgement of the order, the second were the pickup instructions. The directions on what to do were weak at best. The email simply said go to the store and follow the signage with the cutesy verbiage "Click and Collect". The signage directed you to a vague area, where the cutesy verbiage was no where to be found. However, that area contained a limited 15 minute assisted pickup section and there seemed to be related signs indicating I should text "join" to some phone number. To that I get a response containing a web site where I can enter my name, phone number, order number and what kind of car I'm in. The email instructions only state that "if someone else picks up your order, they must provide the order confirmation number and a government issued ID. I had both of those. After 25 minutes, I get a text saying my name isn't the same as what's on the order and did have anything saying I'm the pickup person. I look at the pickup instructions and my name is no where to be found (turns out it was on the order confirmation, but that didn't make sense to me because the order would have been confirmed before it was determined that I was the pickup person). By the time I found the email and responded that I had what they wanted, an IKEA employee was at my car window. I tried to tell her that I had the email showing me as the pick up person, but she wasn't interested in listening to anything, only ordering me to go inside to deal with customer service and that I had to move my car from the (mostly empty) limited assisted service. I didn't get any directions on where to find customer service. Luckily, I did find someone helpful inside the main entrance to direct me to customer service. When I got there, the SAME PERSON is standing there and asks me for the email. I showed it to her and my ID to which she's satisfied and willing to give me the merchandise. So I asked why we couldn't have done that when we were in the garage. Without answering, she turns around and gets my merchandise, wheels it out on a cart and tells me to have a nice day. I have to ask how I get it back to the car, to which she points at the elevator. At that point I was left to load the vehicle myself instead of getting help at the "Click and Collect" assisted loading. So if you have an hour to waste and lots more patience than I do, feel free to use IKEA's Click and Collect
