The Best Family-Friendly Hotels in Spain

"Best for: An all-inclusive stay As you cycle along the boardwalk that leads to Estepona, it’s fun to peek over walls at the other hotels and villas—a Malibu-like jumble of architectural styles that track Marbella’s evolution. Ikos arrived in 2021 with a fresh approach and an aquatic symmetry—buildings are set either side of four main swimming pools, leading down to the beach—that would have the designers of the Alhambra tipping their hat. Dolphin inflatables and pool-side rosé appear throughout the day, the day’s newsletter perused—aqua aerobics at 9a.m., perhaps, with football for teens before lunch. This is the brand’s first hotel outside Greece, but it’s the smartest, an Ibizan-style chiringuito writ large in white walls, rattan, and straw lampshades. Ikos’s great idea was to redefine the all-inclusive concept for those who’d never normally consider it. Room service and bottles of Taittinger are covered, as is a round of golf if desired, and there’s an urban buzz to the many restaurants, mostly devised by Michelin-grade chefs (try the Spanish and Greek first), and bars (cocktails by Shoreditch-based Marian Beke). What’s more, guests are encouraged to connect with the region. A day’s Mini Cooper rental is thrown in and the all-inclusive perks are extended to local restaurants, meaning you never feel boxed in. Price: Garden view room (sleeps 4), from $1,128 per night all inclusive (minimum five night stay)." - Sarah Leigh Bannerman

We had a really enjoyable 10 night stay in this hotel. We had previously stayed at the Olivia during covid and made the decision to stay here during the later stages of covid when limited travel was still a thing! The resort was pretty new and was certainly a 5 star property. It is certainly more compact than the Olivia but beautifully finished everywhere. The food as expected was superb and our second stay in an Ikos Resort was as enjoyable as the first. We even spotted the odd celeb! We didn't spend much time on the beach as it is pretty stoney but with the number of pools at the hotel there is little need to spend time on the beach. The pools are heated so the kids spent the day splashing about.||The location is a little remote but I am not sure there is a need to leave to be honest, we took the bikes for a ride along the beach which was lovely and took a taxi into Marbella two evenings for a bite to eat which is about a 30 minute taxi ride away.||If there was a negative it would have been that as a deluxe guest we didn't really feel there was any benefit to same. While the was a dedicated deluxe pool it was just the same as one of the others boxed in at the end. The only real benefit we enjoyed was the use of the Deluxe outdoor bar. This was certainly disappointing, that being said I understand that a proper separate deluxe pool has now been added with an additional restaurant.||We are heading back in April of next year so I will check that out then!

A rather late review from our stay at Andalusia at the end of October/beginning of November 2024. ||||As returning guests, our expectations were already set very high but once again our stay here was first class and if possible, exceeded that of our other visits.||||From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Miguel with a glass of bubbly and seated outside in the beautiful sunshine at the Lobby Bar. Miguel was very informative about the resort, although as we had visited on a number of other occasions our check in was brief, efficient, friendly and carried out with a great sense of humour. We were informed that our room may not be ready until 3.00 pm but that everything possible would be done to facilitate availability as soon as possible. We therefore, decided to go for a late brunch at the Beach Club which serves breakfast until midday, and were informed by midday that our room was in fact ready. ||||Miguel showed us to our room, having originally requested our favourite block, we were delighted to be offered an upgrade from Superior Sea View Room to Sea View Junior Suite - our room was absolutely beautiful and perfectly located for us, being close to the sea but so peaceful and quiet. ||||As we previous stays, our stay at Andalusia was faultless. From the food, beverages, service, facilities and not least the staff, who go above and beyond to ensure that all guests expectations are met and exceeded - we cannot thank you enough for making our holiday everything we expected and hoped for.||||Restaurants - try them all. It is impossible to have a favourite, the food is divine in them all and the service outstanding. Perhaps our favourite for breakfast being "the beach club" and our favourite for lunch "Chiringuito". Otherwise, try as many as the other restaurants, for dinner, as you can. Also the dine out experience in Estapona is definitely worth booking - a lovely restaurant located in the most beautiful square and Estapona is stunning at night.||||All the staff are, without exception, outstanding. However, I would like to mention just a few for making our stay extra special :-||||Miguel - Front Desk, our check in and check out were seamless, efficient and made us feel heartwarmingly at home again. Thank you.||||Ioannis - Fresco's, truly wonderful service combined with a lovely personality, keeping our wine glasses topped up whilst sharing his love of his home country, Corfu - another one of our Ikos highlights. ||||Meriem - housekeeping (Block 7) My, oh my - this lady is truly amazing. It took her all of one day to work out our schedule. As if by magic, every evening, whilst we were at dinner, our room would be turned down and fresh towels supplied for our return. This lady did not miss a beat. ||||Provence - unfortunately we cannot recall his name, but we had a wonderful Chilean wine waiter, who had wonderful knowledge of the wines on offer.||||Bike Hire - thank you for recommending an E Bike (at extra cost) for my partner. This enabled us both to cycle to Estapona and in fact we clocked up 20 miles, without this suggestion we would not have been able to cycle on this visit.||||Tesla Hire - again the lady who arranges and organises the car hire is delightful; she is full of recommendations for places to visit and even whilst obviously very busy takes time to ensure that you are comfortable driving a Tesla and know the best places to go. Thank you.||||Finally but by no means least. DIMITRA SPANOU, one very special young lady who has taken the time to get to know us and taking note of our preferences. Dimitra quietly and efficiently ensured that our holiday at Andalusia was absolute perfection. Thank you Dimitra - you make us feel that we are coming home when we visit Andalusia, for us you and Andalusia hold a special place in our hearts.||||We look forward to returning at the end of March.

My fiancé and i had the pleasure of staying here for my 50th birthday in November. It truly is wonderful from the rooms, staff and food. Everyone was attentive and nothing was too much bother. Fresco and Seasons were our favourite restaurants also the room service breakfast was a delight. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t great however this never took away from us having a fabulous time. This was our 5th Ikos and the best! A special thank you to Pilar for sorting out an issue . Many thanks to you all.

We had an amazing stay as a family of three (our daughter is 2 years old). Everything was beyond perfect, from our arrival to the departure, nothing disappointed us. The food is the best I had in a hotel so far, the staff is friendly and helpful, the installations are spotless and everything is well thought. The rooms are spacious and the views were great. My toddler was smiling non stop, and her happiness made our stay even more unforgettable! Ikos Andalusia was our first time in an Ikos resort and it won’t be the last. Best all inclusive resort without any doubt, the concept is the best we experienced so far.

A few words about the Chiringuito restaurant in IKOS Andalusia. ||This is situated on the perfect beach, with stunning views over the sea. |The food is to die for. Delicious fish and prawns in garlic that melt in your mouth.|I have to sing the praises of the excellent manager Darko and all the wonderful waiters - namely George. George looks after you in an exceptional way, and Darko manages to make each person feel special by ensuring a wonderful atmosphere and mouthwatering menus, of which he’s very proud. Every person working there are very polite, keen, helpful, always smiling and very kind. There is always a vast array of wines, and delicious Sangria. If you have the opportunity, having dinner under the stars is very special.|I’d recommend Chiringuito restaurant as the highlight of the resort!!| Malgosia

Beautiful hotel with exceptional service! Ikos resorts never disappoint, this one was my favourite. The garden room was so lovely, the food and drinks were incredible and we all enjoyed the heated pools! We were very lucky with the warm weather, but we honestly cannot wait to come back. Highly recommend this gorgeous place!

A brilliant experience was waiting for us. Lots of restaurants with excellent food (well, almost all). As it was the end of season it wasn't too crowded and there was plenty of places beside the various pools. The alcohol on offer was named brand and was always available. Some issues were soon sorted out.

My husband and I had an amazing experience at Ikos Andalusia. We are vegan, and were initially drawn to the resort because of its vegan offerings. The food was amazing during our six day stay - we had SO many options with a dedicated menu at each restaurant. We don’t drink alcohol but still felt that the price was right given the level of service and the great food. The service was outstanding throughout the resort. The WhatsApp communication system was great. This is truly a pool-based resort, and we spent most of our days lounging, but also took advantage of the very nice gyms, courts, fitness classes, and bike rentals. The beach is NOT the draw here (it is hot dark sand), but we were aware of this ahead of time. There are lots of kids, but it’s possible to somewhat distance yourself from the family groups (I.e. go to the adult pool) if you are looking for an adult vibe. I truly did not want to leave at the end of our stay, and I’m looking forward to returning soon!
