Il Baglio sull'Acqua, Favignana, Sicily, Italy - Explore & Book

"This oh-so-pretty island off the west coast of Sicily is a well-kept secret. Apart from the scorching summer months when the Italians flock there, the pace remains gloriously slow. Spend days beneath a default blue sky, catching the breeze as you cycle from bay to stunning bay, with that crystal clear, turquoise sea glistening beside you. Sigh. Il Baglio sull’Acqua is perfectly placed for such frolicking. Spectacular beaches are within easy reach and the bustling port town is even closer. Sister to nearby Casalmare, this peaceful 19th-century retreat delivers on design. Each of its 10 rooms has been styled with Sicilian flair. Think soothing neutral tones, wood-beamed ceilings and checkerboard floors. Watch the sea or surrounding olive groves from your window or private terrace. Outside, an impressive pool glimmers from the lush green gardens. The chef serves up traditional Sicilian greats on the candlelit terrace. Or sip a chilled Campari in the tranquil Arabian-styled courtyard. There’s still time to discover Favignana before word gets out. Just keep it under your (sun) hat. Highs Unpretentious, smartly designed rooms with some Moroccan flareUtterly dreamy pool in a magical garden settingTop-notch location, with sea views and easy access to the island’s best bitsThe food served in the restaurant is reportedly deliciousWe hear the senior management is super-friendly and helpful Lows Word is the restaurant service can be a little slowIt’s not the easiest place to reach, but the 30-minute ferry crossings to the island are frequentReception closes at night so don’t expect round-the-clock serviceIt doesn’t come cheap, but places like this rarely do7 night minimum stay in August preferred; shorter stays can be arranged depending on availability" - Handpicked by our hotel experts

Il Baglio sull'Acqua was magical. |From the moment we arrived we were welcomed warmly by the wonderful caretakers whom are all kind and attentive.|The room was so perfectly designed in its minimalism, the epitome of comfort and tranquility.|A quick note on convenience: They have a relationship with a scooter rental agency that couldn't have been more convenient. A representative from the company came to us with the scooter and picked it up on the day of our departure.|My wife and I are both gluten intolerant which can make things a bit inconvenient but it was hardly a problem for them. Most of their breakfast spread was accessible to us but on top of that they had a wonderful daily spread of gluten free products brought to our table. On top of this, they went as far as getting a completely gluten free ricotta cake for us that was delicious beyond words.|I'm embarrassed to say I don't recall the gentleman's name but the youngest of the three people we encountered during our stay spoke perfect English and looked after us as though we were the only guests on their wonderful grounds.|We were in room number 1, which had its own seating area with coffee table and outdoor couch. One of the things we actually loved the most is they provided us with a convenient drying rack and clips which we used daily after our wonderful days spent at the beach.|The pool was the best we experienced during our entire trip. For context our other hotels had larger pools with different depths but this was our favorite because of its beautiful design but also the water temperature and cleanliness. The perfect way to wind down after a day at one of the many incredible beaches on Favignana.|Next door attached to the property is a restaurant called "Giardino Sotto Sale" which was also probably our best dining experience on the trip. This is also where their breakfasts are served. From the cocktails to the seafood and meat dishes it was perfection. They also catered to our allergy expertly.|We loved our stay so much we are already planning on coming back soon as our schedules will allow, however this time we plan to stay for 10 nights instead of 4. Thank you so much for making our stay so memorable!

From the email correspondence through to the transport coordination and daily recommendations, Francesca made our stay at Baglio Sull Acqua such a treat. I had a last minute change to my booking to bring my mum along and the team made it so easy to organise! ||The hotel itself is striking, with an amazing backdrop of rugged Favignana land and the beautiful sea. The pool and outdoor lounge areas are amazing and our room was generous, well appointed and very comfortable. Well my daughter especially loved the huge concrete bath!||Despite being peak season (and probably full of guests) the hotel was quiet and it was lovely to see the same guests around but still feel like we had private use of some of the spaces. ||The breakfast was one of the best we had on our few months in Italy. The daily selection changes and the variety and quality of the food was very impressive. We did struggle a little without access to food on site again until the restaurant opened later that evening (and just a small mini bar in our room) but it was a good excuse to eat well in the morning and get out and about in the day. ||The hotel is far enough away from the town centre that you feel secluded but still an easy walk in for dinner with most of the walk still very well lit. ||Highly recommend the hire of electric bikes (which Francesca arranged for us). They were significantly cheaper than anywhere else we hired bikes in Italy and allowed us to venture to all of the places on our list.

Baglio was the most amazing hotel experience we have ever had. From check in to check out, Brunella was so attentive and accommodating to all of our needs. Her english was flawless and we could not have survived booking taxis or transfers without her help. We got married here and had multiple vendors passing in and out. The staff made sure we and our vendors were taken care of with whatever we needed. The hotel restaurant staff and bartenders made special arrangements for those with food allergies and still delivered some of the best dinners and breakfasts I have ever had. The hotel itself is breathtaking. the landscaping and decor should be on a postcard. We loved our experience and cannot wait to be back.

Beautiful hotel which felt like an oasis, our room was large, comfortable bed, great AC, wonderful pool and grounds. Francesca was very helpful with everything, from dinner reservations, to scooter rentals and local tips. I would definitely stay here. We also loved the restaurant and sitting in the garden. Dinner was great and so was breakfast

My wife and I spent 6 days in Il Baglio Sull'Acqua and were amazed by the place, sitting at almost within walking distance from Favignana city. The perfectly restoured building from the 19th century is magical and offers stylish 1O rooms. Hence the hotel is quiet and the perfect place to relax and escape from the rather bustling atmosphere in the city. Our host Francesca looked after every detail and organized reservations for restaurants, transfers and came to have a chat every day asking us is everything was upto our expectation. Our room was quite ample and had a private terrace with a huge caught, an umbrella, two lounge-chairs, a table and even a private shower. The restaurant Aziza offers a good selection of dishes, very nicely prepared and presented as well as a good wine card. A very complete breakfast is also served there. Transfers are very frequent and easy from both Trapani and Marsala by high-speed ferry. Francesca recommended a restaurant in the citry nearby (Scaliddre) that served very very classy dished, whie it was quite affordable and offered geat value for money, so a "spot on" suggestion - The only remarks we have is that the area and garden around the swimming pool could be a bit better kept. A paved area for the loungers and the pergola's would be an improvement in our humble opinion. The other point is that the garden partly looks out on a small industrial factory, which is kind of killing a bit of the magic. Yet the many pro's largerly outnumber for the cons. If you are looking for a stylish, tranquil spot for an island holiday, this might be your perfecr choice. Do certainly check out the sunset on the other tip of the Island (Punta Sottile) and book a table in Baia del Faro. You won't be disappointed!

This hotel was the 3rd stop on our honeymoon and we stayed for 3 nights. It was the most expensive hotel on the island but worth it to us. When we arrived at the hotel we were unsure if anyone was there since no-one was at the front desk. Eventually a housekeeper led us to our room and we were greeted by a bottle of champagne and a stunning room with African decor. Our room was very spacious and had a private patio on the back with a small dipping pool. The interior was stunning with eccentric African and Sicilian decorations. The only downside of the room was the tap water was very salty and felt undrinkable. ||||The grounds are the most impressive part of the hotel. You feel like at times you’re in Morocco with the stunning gardens, pool, and incredible views of the island. We had drinks by the pool one night in a peaceful, tranquil setting under the stars. We also dined at the hotel one night and enjoyed the food although it was not as good as some of the more rustic places in the main town. The breakfast every day was always a highlight with homemade pepperoni buns, fennel/tomato salads, and other typical European breakfast meats and cheeses. The hotel was very helpful renting us electric bikes to go around the island and booking a taxi. ||||I would recommend this property for anyone looking for unique surroundings, a stylish property, but low service and amenities. At times the hotel feels somewhat like a luxury Airbnb because of the desolate location in the middle of the island and the spread out nature of the rooms and the lobby. The hotel is within walking distance to town but it is much faster to bike.

What a gem! What a gem! We were not sure of what to expect when we booked, and were a bit worried we had to pay the stay of our entire party (my husband and me and our 2 adult daughters with their partners) ahead of time. But nothing to worry about, the place was well, well above our expectations and the price is more than reasonable for what you get: pure bliss and serenity! ! Only 10 rooms all occupied when we stayed and you don’t fell as if you were almost the only guests, so quiet and pleasant. Brunella and Francesca make you feel welcome and you know it’s sincere, they are truly helpful (Brunella saved us multiple times with our bike rentals after a triple flat tire incident). And so much attention to details, like the nespresso machine and the snacks available in the charming small lobby. The great breakfast with outstanding service by a smart caring team. An exceptional place managed by exceptional people. This is the place at which to stay in Favignana, perfect location, incredible value for money, a gem truly! We will come again!

This place is amazing. It is not cheap but worthy the money expended. It’s clam and quiet. Very charming. Full of history and with great staff. It is well cleaned and maintained. Good pool. Breakfast with lots of fruits. And they have an excellent restaurant just inside the hotel.
