Il Castello Ristorante - Pizzeria - Albergo

Great location with clean, comfortable rooms. Our group had four very different room arrangements. Air-conditioning. All had nice bathrooms with great shower pressure. Dinners at the adjoining restaurant were a highlight. Nice breakfast area with yogurt, hard-boiled eggs, fruit, bread and pastries. ||The only drawback was the miserable WiFi. So bad we had to use cell service. An easy fix which we hope management will undertake!

I love Petralia Sottana and this hotel is right in the centre. Il Castello is an old building that has a well in the reception area, which means that at breakfast you're accompanied by the gentle sound of spring water. My room was comfortable and calm and well equipped, with a great bathroom. It had a view over the old town roofs and the hills in the distance, and was quiet - all I could hear during my siesta was the beautiful sound of swifts and the swoop of starlings. Il Castello have their own restaurant which serves some of the best pizzas in Sicily - I've had them before and can attest to that. When I was there recently the pizza oven wasn't lit so we had the slow cooked pork instead which was absolutely delicious. The restaurant isn't open every day of the week so check timings before you book. The staff were fun and lively and charming. Francesca, who runs the hotel, let me do an online interview in the foyer, even though we'd all checked out. Thank you Francesca, I will definitely be back, hopefully for longer next time!

This small medieval town on top of a hill in the Parco delle Madonie in Sicily has this one hotel in the middle of narrow, winding, hilly, cobbled streets. Parking is a matter of luck, as you can imagine, but once parked one can walk all around town. The hotel had someone waiting for us to hand over the keys and we were on our own after that. The first odd thing we noticed is that rooms 1 & 2 are on the top floor while room 6 is on the ground floor. Of course there are no lifts in this renovated medieval building, so three flights of stairs will keep you healthy when you’re in room 1. The room itself was very spacious and offers all the facilities one expects. The bathroom flushing was the second quirky thing we experienced - it’s a push button function but a sign on the wall advises guests that they need to push it several times with some energy for it to function - unfortunately I did not take a photo of the sign! Other than that our stay was pleasant and the breakfast buffet was enjoyable.

Quaint hotel set in amazing location unspoiled by mass tourism. The restaurant next door serves the best pizza we ever had and the staff, especially Francesca made our stay wonderful. The breakfast is varied and generous and the room was comfortable.

I organised a walking tour in May for a group of English people and many of us stayed at It Castello. The staff - particularly Francesca - could not have been more helpful in the run up to the trip - they even organised additional places for us to stay in town because they didn't have enough beds. All the guests were happy with their rooms which were spacious and well appointed, and the staff were charming throughout. The general feel of the place is lovely, and it's in the centre of town which means you can walk everywhere. We all ate in the pizzeria on the first night and had some of the best pizzas we'd ever tasted. If I organise another tour I will definitely go back to Il Castello.

Attention: This location marks the entrance to the restaurant. The hotel’s entrance is in the back of the building in via Pucci! We had a great stay at the hotel. The staff is super friendly and ready to help, they’re super knowledgeable of things to do in the area. The breakfast is delicious. Our room was very comfortable and spacious, but expect some noise from the restaurant if your room’s windows are above the outdoor seating area.

The food was tasty but unfortunately the restaurant was definitely over charging tourists for wine. Waitress told us that that a carafe of wine was not possible (although local people had this) we had to choose from the wine cellar! She could only tell us that the wine cost ' around E30 but could not give us any tasting notes! In the end they charged us E35! Very poor quality wine!!! I would not recommend which is a shame as food was satisfactory.
