Disappointing stay at this hostal. Google photos don’t match reality — the room was not clean, the shower very old, and the window had no screen, making it easy for bugs to get in (yet you have to keep it open because of the heat). Breakfast was acceptable, but overall not a comfortable experience. 🚫

Very nice lady in the house, good location, near to the village and also to the nature. Maybe a net could be useful on the windows, but anyway we had a very good time here in Toscana

I was there May 2024 and it was very friendly. Loved everything and my 6 year old granddaughter Valentina remembers well the small turtles in the back of the building...❤️

Fantastic small hotel just a few steps outside the town. Very charming and comfortable room and a very large good bed. Lovely garden and pool and a fantastic hostess Roberta. In spite of no aircon, the room had a cool and comfortable temperature. Bathroom is of age, but everything worked well. We visited this hotel 27 years ago and loved to be back. Hopefully we can visit again soon. Highly recommend.

Stayed 2 nights as part of a cycling tour through Tuscany. Nice room, good views, nice pool area , nice area undercover to relax. Decent breakfast. Just out of town and quiet. Roberta , the owner is really pleasant & helpful. There's even a nice cat! There are a couple of very nice restaurants 5/10 mins walk way up the hill and a good gelateria just down the hill.

We've just come back from Tuscany and stayed for a week at the Il Colombaio for our honeymoon. The hotel is lovely full of rustic charm. The breakfasts were yummy - fresh croissants every morning with a delicious cappuccino. Everyone was really helpful and Roberta was lovely and speaks great English especially with all the questions I have about the area. Our room was clean and the we had fresh linen and towels every couple of days. The hotel is centrally placed to visit all the towns and sights of Tuscany and the village was a 5 minute walk ideal for our evening meals on the various restaurants. Will definitely return and stay again. Thankyou for helping to make our honeymoon really special. Michelle and Simon Green xx

My wife and I stayed at Albergo (Hotel) Il Colombaio for 3 nights as we explored the Chianti and Siena regions. The hotel is a large farmhouse that has been updated to make your stay comfortable while still retaining the original rustic character. Parking is off street and easy to use. The room and common areas were spotlessly clean and well appointed. Roberta, the owner, was very friendly and helpful with all of our questions. Roberta's mother was there when we checked in and since her English was about as good as our Italian our check in experience was one of those times that makes travel so rewarding. She was a wonderful lady and we got it done with some memories to go along with it. Castellina itself was one of our favorite small towns with several great restaurants and historical sites. All of these are a short walk from the hotel. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Arriving late in the evening with no reservations the night receptionist checked us in, gave us a local restaurant recommendation and even called the restaurant to let them know we were coming late. ||During our 6 day stay at the hotel the hostess Roberta was gracious and helped us with local tips and also arranged a wonderful cooking school for us at a nearby winery. The hotel was charming, clean and well looked after. Rooms were spacious the grounds were charming with many quiet places to relax and enjoy the view. I would definitely return.
