Soooo sad to leave this review, because I was beyond excited to try this place after reading a glowing blog post on it in addition to all the other positive comments. I went around 5 pm on a Tuesday after a long day of hiking, and the pans were reasonably full. I ordered the grande cone (on accident) and chose the mix. Unfortunately, I didn't realize that the warming pans aren't that hot; my heart sank with that first tepid, soggy bite. (I have a stomach of steel, but ... isn't that also kind of a food safety concern? Ha.)
It's a small mom-and-pop shop, so I didn't want to ask them for a fresh batch - instead, I asked to have it refried. It helped with the crunch levels, but not with everything else. I ate 1/3 of my cone and trashed the rest - it was unsalvageable. And I never say that!
I am tempted to go back and wait around for a fresh, hot batch; but there also are so many other places selling the same thing here that I don't think this one deserves another chance when I'm only here for three days. I am giving two stars because I love the story behind the restaurant and I really am pulling for them. But for €10 (which I think is a very reasonable price for how generous the portion size was), I really expected much better.
For what it's worth, I can tell, even through the lukewarm temps, the anchovies would've been scrumptious if done right, as I'm certain they usually are. :)
