Where to Stay in Florence: The Best Neighborhoods For Your Visit

"I found “il Pitti” Soggiorno to be a straightforward, affordable option directly across from Pitti Palace, offering comfy private rooms (ensuite or shared) painted in cheery pastels with lots of natural light and parquet floors; the décor is a bit dated but rooms include a desk, wardrobe and electric kettle, and bathrooms feature a rainfall shower and bidet, making it a great no‑frills choice in a quieter neighborhood." - Matthew Kepnes

Do not book this hotel. We arrived 5 1/2 hours ago and the keys that were left for us did not allow us to access the hallway that led to our room. We called the number we were given eight, yes eight times and were told 6 times that someone would arrive within 10 minutes to let us in. The other 2 times we were hung up on. A resident of the building eventually gave us access to the hallway after many hours. Please see the photos attached. What you don't see in the photos is the extreme musty smell of the bathroom and the fact that the air conditioner doesn't not work. We also have no blankets for the bed-only a sheet. I look forward to speaking with any on-site staff who may or may not show up. Update: we stayed for 2 nights and even after continuing to contact them, they never responded back or came to assist us. To their knowledge, after our repeated calls, they were happy to leave us without access to our room. The only positive thing about this hotel was the location.

Great Stay in the Heart of Florence This hotel was in a perfect location—close to everything in Florence! We loved being able to walk to all the main attractions and still enjoy the comfort of coming back to rest whenever we needed a break. One suggestion: try to check in early, as there’s no traditional reception desk. It’s a self-check-in process, but everything was clearly explained, and the communication from the staff was excellent. They were responsive, helpful, and made everything easy. Overall, it was a great value for the location and comfort. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone visiting Florence!

Everything seemed normal until arrival when the keys that we collected from the self check-in area did not open the area to our room. We called EIGHT times over the course of five hours and were told that someone would be there in ten minutes. Multiple times. No one arrived. Thankfully a fellow tenant of the building helped us into the hallway that was full of junk (tarps, old furniture, etc.) before arriving in our dungeon of a room. The air conditioner didn’t work and there was nothing on the bed but a thin sheet. There was no hot water and I no one responded to my inquiries the next day to move rooms to one with a functioning air conditioner. The service was absolutely terrible and we would have been without a room for the night without the help of the other tenant. Do not stay in room 101 or really with this ‘hotel’ at all if you can avoid it.

Il Pitti Soggiorno|1/5 Terrible|Where shall I start? Let’s say this was just a bad choice overall. We received an email an hour before check in demanding for us to email our passorts or check in would NOT be permitted. This, despite the fact that our stay had already been paid for. They would NOT accept a passport in person… only via email. When we arrived there was no way to enter. We had to call for an entry code that led us to a ONE PERSON elevator to reception on the third floor where there was NO ONE. Another call to the hotel resulted in NO ANSWER. there was nowhere to store our bags. We left them and went to grab a drink. Finally received an email with our room number- key was in a drawer. Room had an air conditioner that did not work, no hot water for showers and no lights in the stairwell ( we were at the top of the building). Another email to the hotel with no response to address the water or AC. We were eaten alive by bugs through the night and the noise from the street went on well after 3AM. Don’t expect to get fresh towels or have your room freshened up either. No service here. What a TERRIBLE PLACE to stay. Oh…. Other guests complained about no parking and no response from hotel too. DONT STAY HERE!!!!!!!!!

IT’S A SCAM! PLEASE AVOID BEFORE BOOKING! The price is surely interesting, that’s probably the reason people book this place and for the location of course, but it is the worst place ever. My wife was shocked when enter to this location so dirty was the room, zero service provided! She had to book another place because was literally a nightmare even to enter in the room! Better you spend few euros more for a better location. LITERALLY TO AVOID!!

Read the recent reviews! Do not book here, they'll take your money, might not have a room ready for you, and won't respond to you in any way. We booked the day before, and tried to check in during the evening. Nobody was there. We were let in by the neighbours who knew the door code. "Reception" area had a key in an envelope for somebody else, none for us. We tried to call, and email, but nothing! It's actually insane. On top of all that, it's just a pretty creepy place. My girlfriend was so uncomfortable in there. Other guests we met said to run, and to stay somewhere else. Beware!

Worst experience I’ve had at a hotel, first of all when we tried to call the reception to get the code for the door no one answered us and we had to sit and call from a bar for 4 hours before we went back. Only by pure coincidence did we meet a girl who stayed at the same hotel and gave us the code. when we finally got to the hotel room there were no staff to greet us, no AC, no hot water, no WiFi and we got eaten up by mosquitoes even with every window closed. After a week in this bunker we meet one guy who worked there and he demanded we paid 120 euro (originally 70 euro) for a hidden tax which we had already had paid for. 1/10 experience but the location was ok

Do NOT BOOK THIS HOTEL!!!! This is the absolute worst customer service experience I have ever had. Zero help from call center. Rarely any staff on sight. Most of the time I was just hung up on or no answer at all. We had no AC and no hot water in room 301 for our entire stay. Our second room 802, the shower would not drain properly. No help from staff to resolve the issue and no effort to compensate us at all. This company has zero respect or regard for their quest!
