We had a lovely stay for 2 nights in a spacious superior room. We asked for and got the only room with a small balcony. ||Check in was easy and the hotel is in a great location. We parked in a garage and took the elevator the the top Floor. From there it is a five minute walk. ||The room was lovely. There is no airconditioning but we left the balcony doors open and it was fine. The delicious Breakfast is in the very cosy bar area. ||Staff is very friendly.

The pro's||The location of the hotel/albergo is excellent,  right on the main square in the old town.  Everything is within close proximity.||The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful.||The cons.||We booked a superior room.  It was very basic for the price.||Bathroom, tiny, no natural ventilation, sliding door with a gap, everything audible from inside the bedroom. No handle on the door, very difficult to open from the inside.||The wash basin is located inside the bedroom and not in the bathroom, no rail to hang a towel beside it.||No safe to secure personal items.||No Aircon.  Fan provided but not as effective. ||There is a cover charge €3.50 per person to eat at the restaurant.   Hotel guests receive a 10% discount on food however, all this does is eliminate the cover charge.   Hotel guests should not be subject to a cover charge.||We could feel the springs in the thin matress, it needs to be replaced.||Overall, a nice stay but improvements could be made to the bedroom. ||

I review the restaurant not the hotel: This place is a hidden gem! The staff is superb there: friendly, smiling and courteous. We got a table for 6 on a busy Sunday afternoon. We were a bit in a rush so ordered only pizzas. We got pastrami with cheese as a starter. The food was served quite quickly despite many guests. The pizzas were like they were supposed to be: thin dough, delicious toppings. We got a refreshing Hugo to drink We had lovely time and would visit again

Stayed for one night at this hotel|Restaurant was closed on day of arrival but could check in at other hotel nearby|Room was small with only a fan for air conditioning which was so noisy we turned off at night. The bathroom was very small with sink outside the door and s sliding door which gave no privacy. Also no hot water in shower or sink. Hotel organised a transfer to airport for us but told us we should leave at 6am for 9.40 flight as traffic would be so heavy. The taxi was bringing four other people to the airport as well and took 15 mins and cost us forty euro which we thought was very expensive. Staff gave us a takeaway breakfast and were very pleasant but would not stay here again

The staff truly shine, providing a warm and helpful welcome that enhances the overall experience. We particularly enjoyed the very good breakfast, a lovely start to each day. While the hotel exudes a certain cozy charm, it's worth noting that there is no lift, so be prepared for a bit of stair climbing. Additionally, our room's window didn't open and offered no view, which was a minor drawback. However, the friendly service and excellent location make Hotel IL Sole a worthwhile option for those looking for a comfortable and well-situated stay in Bergamo.

Visited the restaurant/bar for drinks on two occasions and then came back for dinner. Cocktails were lovely and reasonably priced, and I was very impressed by the service here. Also a lovely view on the terrace for dinner.

This hotel is in the center of Bergamo, it’s beautiful and the people in the front desk are extremely nice! It doesn’t have elevator, because it has two floors, but Nicola was super nice and he helped us carry the suitcases into our room. And Natalia what an amazing person she is! She was extremely nice and sweet! Thank you for everything. The only things is that I would renew the bathrooms or put some furniture to put the bathroom things. But everything was nice! And the breakfast amazing!!

I ate dinner there and also stayed two nights in the hotel. Dinner was great! I got the lasagna and it was delicious. My room was very cute and clean. The staff at the hotel were sooo nice and helpful. They helped us find parking for our car and were all around very helpful and friendly. I absolutely recommend staying here! The location is incredible!

The polenta dishes which is a staple in Bergamo is #TooDieFor!! I had a rabbit and polenta dish and never in my life thought I would experience ecstasy! Apparently polenta is a staple of bergamo! I have so much respect for Bergamo cuisine now. You must try this place located at Piazza Vecchia in città Alta! Have a caffè macchiato or espresso at end of meal...espresso is so good here too!!

We had an excellent dinner here a week ago. My wife had the porcini risotto that was awesome, great flavor, and I had the gnocchi which was soft like little pillows in your mouth. I wish it had come with gorgonzola instead of tomato sauce and the presentation of both could have been better, but they were great meals.
