I have noticed a decline in Il Vicino’s pizzas and customer service in recent years. We have been loyal customers for over a decade and are disappointed with their new policy that customers have to pay over the phone for carry out orders over a certain amount. I explained to both an employee and then to the MOD, that I was driving (hands free) and could not give a card over the phone and wanted to pay in cash upon arrival. I also explained that it would be helpful to keep CC info on file for situations like these. They refused to honor my over the phone carry out order, stating they could not make exceptions and that they could prepare my order when I arrived in Person. As far as inconsistency in quality, the last time I got pizzas there, they were all burnt and have noticed that the pizza sizes are also inconsistent! See pictures. Due to the declining quality and service I do not recommend them. I gave 2 stars because when their quality is on point, it is delicious. However, due to the price, quality control would be helpful. In addition, they have become more inconvenient to order from. They seem to have discontinued Grubhub orders, as well. I will not be ordering from them anytime soon.

The diverse menu always brings us back to this local favorite. I was able to customize my sauce on the pizza and was able to wash it all down with a local beer, on tap! The dessert was filling, not too sweet, and definitely was the cherry on top of a great visit to this Nob Hill staple!

Google
This place is a 10 stars out of 5 stars. Excellent salad, gluten free pizza, and A+ service. We got our food in 5 minutes flat. I’m so impressed with the quality!

4$ extra dollars for GF , the crust is very thin , depending on what you get on top, it’s decent , wanted almost 2$ for a small cup of ranch

My wife loves this place. Food is amazing. Staff always very attentive. Atmosphere is nice, but can be hectic — I wouldn’t describe it as cozy. I wish they served the pizza on wire racks, because they get soggy on the plates. I wish the crust was crispier so the slice could stay stiff and not flop down. Great spot for dinner though! Be sure to get the “secret” combo of a side salad, mini pizza, and drink.

Google
Great pizza and affordable price!! This is perfect for when I’m looking for more elevated flavors than Dion’s at a better price point than Farina. Pizza’s were moderately thin with a crispy bottom and fluffy crust. There was a nice balance of toppings. Loved the option to have goat cheese and Burrata. The 13” was perfect for two though it was tasty enough we definitely could’ve eaten both pizzas. This will certainly be added to my pizza rotation.

I am shocked that this was only $11. I ordered the "trufalino" pizza and it was so delicious. I usually don't order mushrooms at a pizza place because oftentimes they use old rotten ones and it's gross. But these were very fresh and tasted great. I also really love that they give you chili oil and REAL PARMESAN on the side, both of which are very tasty. The prices are great for the quality you get. And the crust is good too. Good vegetarian options.

Google
This place was decent. Prices were reasonable, easy paid street parking right in front, and the staff was great. They have a nice menu, and the atmosphere is very nice inside. The Penne Alfredo was great, but it seems it didn’t agree with my stomach. No big deal, we enjoyed our meals!

Yelp
This is one of those places where you know how good the food will be and the service. There are some great options on the menu and the staff is always friendly.

Yelp
I got their pizza combo with salad and a drink it was amazing! The perfect amount of food and amazing flavors for such a great price of $15! I was super impressed I'll be ordering it.

Yelp
"The Neighbor" (Il Vicino) is a wonderful eatery. They have classic Italian options, to include fantastic wood fired pizza. Excellent & friendly service as well. Cannot go wrong with Il Vicino.

Debi J.

Yelp
This pizza was absolutely fantastic. I couldn't have been happier. I built my own: sausage, double onions, and garlic on the traditional marinara. So good, the service was awesome too.

Yelp
OMG THERE IS A FISH IN MY SALAD!!!! I have to say that was one of the better Cesar salad with anchovies. I always think this palace is good because you can come hang in non hill for a bit and have a great meal. So for lunch hours I suggest you the lunch special. You get a pizza, salad, and a drink. ilvacino salad is good but also the Cesar. Food is top notch

Yelp
Il Vicino, which is a local chain in Albuquerque and Santa Fe, has really good food. Very flavorful wood-fired pizza, and good pasta and a good veggie sandwich too. I love the chile oil on the table. Their bread products taste so good and so fresh. They can accommodate vegans. They even make their own beers, and root beer which is good. Be advised, they get crowded and loud sometimes at the locations I've been to. It's a fun atmosphere though.

Yelp
I recently stopped by to place a carryout order, it was service with a smile! Martine graciously offered a glass of water as relief from the unrelenting heat which immediately gave me anticipation of great service. That particular time of day, the restaurant was full of customers happily enjoying drinks, food and enjoying the ambient music. Because my order took rather long to be prepared, Martine offered me a choice of a free dessert! I will definitely return and soon!

James H.

Yelp
Good ingredients that make good pizzas and calzones. The salads are good too. The desserts are amazing.

Yelp
I've been going to Il Vicino for years and they are consistent! The house salad was delicious and I added chicken this time around. I got our little guy a pepperoni pizza, and he absolutely loved it! They were super friendly, and gave him some dough to play with while we waited for our food. Highly recommend!

Yelp
This was probably one of the worst dining experience I've ever encountered. Firstly, I'll talk about what was good, the ordering at the front and paying up front. Honestly, paying upfront is better for them because you're more likely to tip before you get your order. Secondly, we did two orders for our table and our friend's came out first. This is normal, however he tried to wait and then ended up finishing his food before ours ever showed up. The waiter came over with a pizza that wasn't ours, but when we said it wasn't ours, he didn't care to figure out where our order even was. It got to the point where I saw our orders sitting on the food counter for a while so I walked up to ask for them. The server over there said I couldn't take the food and I had placed an order to-go. I told him I didn't place the order to-go and that was my food. I reluctantly handed the plates back to him. I then saw him put the food back on the counter and work on other orders, ignoring the plates which solidified that those were indeed my plates. I walked up again and asked if I could take my orders as we have been waiting and proceeded to get yelled at. I think the manager wanted to avoid any in person feedback because he walked around to many tables to ask how their food/experience was and skipped over ours. I understand miscommunication but not a single person was there to make it right or wanting to listen to try and find our food. It got to the point where we almost felt obligated to ask for our tip back. You can't trust to tip this place prior to the food coming out, so I suggest bringing cash if you feel like your service/food and experience was good. Should have gone with the local suggestion and had the local pizza chain Dions.

Yelp
I've been to the other Il Vicino's and I really liked the set up in this location better. It has a better ambience. I got a small Il Vicino salad which was yummy. I wish they had more hard boiled eggs but they had enough! They also gave you a small piece of bread which was a nice touch. Worth checking it out!

Yelp
This place looked fairly popular on a Sunday night (always a good sign), so we decided to try it. Plus, who doesn't like pizza from a wood fired oven? Here you order and pay at the counter, and they bring your food to you. The place had a very comfortable and relaxed vibe that I liked. I opted for a Margherita Pizza with gluten free dough. It came out amazingly quickly, and was very tasty. It was crispy around the edges, not so much in the middle, with just one droopy bite, which is fine by me. This gluten free thin crust was nice, and not mealy like some can be. I thoroughly enjoyed it. No leftovers this night. My husband got a regular Meatball Pizza, and it came out shortly after mine. He had asked for it extra crispy. He showed me the bottom of his pizza, which was black, lol. He said it didn't make it any crisper, but he still liked it. He did have some leftovers, but they were consumed later that night.

Yelp
Ordered a Molta Carne. I guess I watch to much Dave Portnoy videos. Pizza flavor was ok. A lot of flop and soggy in the center, soggy is a big "turn off" for me. Service was good and pizza came out quick. Portnoy score...7.4

Julie B.

Yelp
Super cool that you offer vegan cheese and pepperoni options. The cheese is on the very salty side, in case you are shopping options. Myokos has a pizza cheese product you might consider. I still appreciate the effort.

Courtney B.

Yelp
I came in two days ago with Thing One and a friend. We ordered three menu items. Campagnola- I ordered the campanola pizza. The pizza included sausage, marinara sauce, mozzarella, blended goat cheese, mushrooms, and oregano. This pizza was heavy on grease and olive oil. As a true fan of pizza and a former Sicilian resident, its quite a disappointing when fresh ingredients and ruined by the lack of proper wood-fired technique. Pepperoni Pizza- Thing One ordered this menu item and was also displeased  with the lack of the authentic Sicilian/ Italia pizza taste. Aside from the lackluster pizza, this location had flies buzzing about and the vents for the stoves used here were closed. The closed vents made it difficult to breath and there were less flies outside the establishment than within.

Yelp
We really enjoyed this place. Just in town for one night, were in the mood for pizza, and was hoping to find a place not too far from our hotel. Found Il Vivino on Yelp and wandered over. It is an order at the bar and they bring everything to your table kind of place. We got a Caesar Salad and a pizza with tomato, pepperoni and sausage to share. Both the salad and the pizza were outstanding. Cute place with friendly staff too.

Bou P.

Yelp
So many wood oven fired pizza places popped up, this is still my favorite pizza in Albuquerque.

Robert B.

Yelp
Visiting the city and I wanted Italian so I relied on my Yelp peeps for some advice....this is where I went. I had the Casa Della salad and the Prosciutto e Rucola pizza, which were both really good. Admittedly, I thought the prosciutto & arugula were going to be baked into the pizza, & they place them on the pizza after the rest is baked. It works, but not what I was expecting. The place is nice, service is excellent and the food came out quickly, so it was a good choice.

Yelp
It is 2021. A new year. We use Fridays as the day for take-out. We went with Il Vicino. We ordered a pepperoni pizza, rustica pizza (vegetarian), and the Alfredo. I love Il Vicino. I would love to give them 5 stars. I would love to say they beat all the competition hands-down. However, they are so inconsistent. They said the time our order would be ready, we got there 5 mins late, and ended up waiting another 20 mins. Ok, they were busy, but during a pandemic it's not ok to be around other folks for extended times. They didn't have folks in the building but there was a line. Secondly, the folks who cut the pizza made some slices slivers and other almost a full 1/4th of the pizza. The amount of Alfredo this time was far less than last time (did I just get unlucky?). Lastly, sometimes they add the hot oil and cheese to your order and sometimes you have to ask for it (again, during a pandemic this adds risk- talking, asking, coming back in to get something that is usually there). This addresses the lack of one of the stars. But on the good-side, the food tastes amazing. The price is worth the product. The staff is masked. They practice safe social distancing. They work hard. They are a token location. They are absolutely beautiful humans and establishment. I just wish it was consistent. 9/10 recommend.

Yelp
I have been many times to Il Vincino Wood Oven Pizza, but first time to this location in Nob Hill. We placed our order at the counter. They could not find my phone number on file to add frequent customer points to my account, even though I use it at the Cottonwood location. They had to add my name and number to their data base. Done. One of us had a burrata salad, with a huge chunk of cheese. She also enjoyed an order of cavatappi con carne with a few giant meatballs on top. She enjoyed a glass of apple mango cider. Another in our party had a chili chicken soup and salad, plus lasagna bolognese. It was a healthy portion with lots of meat and cheese, loaded with tons of grated parmigiana on top. I had a lasagna guardiniere, with spinach, mushrooms, and some other veggies with a lot of cheese and sauce. I finished it off with my favorite New York cheesecake and yummy whole black cherries in a sweet sauce. Our server was efficient and kept my iced tea refilled as needed. This location was much smaller, and more cramped than the Cottonwood location. They do a very healthy takeout business at this location. Being close to UNM, probably helps. I am a huge Il Vincino fan.

Yelp
My grandmother recommended pizza from here and she was right... it was delicious, fresh and savory. I ordered the Angeli pizza (chicken, sweet balsamic marinara sauce, gorgonzola, portobello mushrooms, artichokes and fresh rosemary - I added capers). I loved their tomato soup with fresh parmesan cheese. Friendly and fast service.

Dee S.

Yelp
We love this place. The pizza is so good. I just recently tried their pasta. The sauce is fresh and flavorful. The have smaller kid size pizzas as well.

Sara P.

Yelp
Very nice place. I had a great sausage and onion pizza. Excellent crust. Could have drank the chili oil

Miller G.

Yelp
If you happen to be in ABQ and you want a really good pizza then this place is it. It is made in a wood oven so you know it is good. It is scrumptious. Great dough, great flavors, fresh ingredients, the crust is thin as God intended and the cheese is just the perfect amount. The service is good and quick. You order as soon as you walk into the restaurants then sit down and wait for the magic to happen. They serve wines and beers on draft. I haven't tried their pastas or dessert so I can't comment on that.

Casey M.

Yelp
It was alright. I always leave super positive, glowing reviews but this place isn't what it used to be. The pizza was pretty doughy. I prefer a thinner, crispier crust. The service wasn't great. I asked the server for an extra plate to share the salad with my date. He kinda interrupted me to ask if I wanted Parmesan. Then he never brought the plate so I had to go ask another server for one. The ambience is nice in Nob Hill for sure. Then my last taste of the meal was to finish my glass of wine. I was thoroughly disappointed to take a drink of wine and get a mouth full of sulfites. "Gross", said my date. I don't hold it against them, whoever poured probably just doesn't know how to pour wine. The spicy olive oil is good though!

Elena G.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious, reasonably priced, and the service and ambience was excellent.

Paulina M.

Yelp
Great pizza! Lots of variety in topping combinations. Sad I cannot take it back to Florida with me.

Melissa K.

Yelp
The food was incredible, but the staff and their manager are beyond! We had a dead battery and I went to ask if perhaps the truck next to ours belonged to one of their employees, and fortunately, it did. The manager said without hesitation, "I've got you!" and found the employee, who graciously gave us a jump in the cold and in the rain, with a smile. Top notch food, top notch guys!

Kat M.

Yelp
A good sandwich. I have had the pizza (which is good) before but wanted to try something new, a sandwich. Very nice side salad. Wish there wasn't that many artichokes in the sandwich but nonetheless enjoyable! Liked the garnish of cheese on top!

Carmen r.

Yelp
The food is always good. But if you use their online to order the delivery option doesn't always work. I used it and 30 min later called and they had it as pick up. They out my Alfredo with the cheese vale si the cheese cake was soggy. I tipped 8.00 for the driver and si ended up having to go pick it up. And all they said was sorry that happened. So by the time I went my food had been sitting there 40 min. Use the Uber website to order and not there's.

John G.

Yelp
No sauce or cheese on my meatball pizza also food was cold disapointed today

Ashley L.

Yelp
Yum!!!! First of all, their homemade spicy oil is a must. I don't care what you order - even if it is just water or coffee! Try it! It is that good! We stopped in today to grab three margarita (yeah, not sure how to do the fancy Italian spelling) pizzas to go because they were only $3.14 each for Pi Day! How awesome is that? They are wood-fired with bomb fresh ingredients and so good! Even when you get it to go, they give you fresh shredded Parmesan and cups of the spicy oil with your pizza. So delish! We also grabbed a side salad with our order. It is a beautiful work of art and even comes with a perfect slice of bread. Our giant order was under $15 and such a beautiful meal that my husband will be able to take for his lunches for the rest of the week. Total win-win! Even with the overload of the holiday special orders, our order was fast and fresh with excellent service! We will definitely be back!

John P.

Yelp
Great Spot! Super good pizza and paninis. Pour their hot oil on everything. Service is on point too. Get the chicken pesto or the sausage/pepperoni, I forget the name.

Beverly J.

Yelp
I love this place. I don't live in Albuquerque, but it's my hometown so I go back often and I try and eat there each time. Great food, great wine and beer and great and friendly service!

Leslie W.

Yelp
Note: One of their pizzas is about enough to fed one person...especially if that person is your 22 year old son. So if you are in a group, order several. Note 2: They have two sizes of beers. Get the small one if you plan to get more than one. They have a terrific selection and you may want to try a couple different ones. Note 3: It's a bit pricey but the food was fresh and the place was lovely inside. I don't remember but it seems as though they did not have the prices posted there on the menu when you order at the door. We sat at the bar. Yeah, their were tables but we like asking the bartenders stuff when we are visiting from out of town. The service was exceptional. Sometimes at the bar when you order food they kinda lose you once the food arrives. Not here. Everyone checked on us each time they passed by and refilled our waters regularly. The pizza arrived fairly quickly. Thin crispy charred crust! Parking in Nob Hill is not easy. But there's so much to do once you get parked.

Luke F.

Yelp
Had a great dinner here tonight! I really enjoyed their Gamberoni pizza and I'm Vicino Amber Ale, and my friend loved his Margherita. The atmosphere is very casual; you order at the counter and take a number, then a waiter brings everything to your table. The service was fast and friendly, and everything was delicious.

Rob M.

Yelp
Pizzas and paninis were fantastic, as was the salad dressing. Great food. Highly recommend.

James J.

Yelp
Gracious and kind staff. Wonderful food. Excellent wine selections. Some of the best pizza I've had in the states. Definitely choose this well run establishment!

Natalie S.

Yelp
My family and I love Il Vicino and have visited various locations. The food is delicious and we absolutely love the spicy signature oil. However, yesterday we decided to eat it from home and do doordash. My sister was eating her pizza when she noticed their was a big piece glass inside her pizza. This glass did not come from the doordash delivery, as it was inside the pizza. If she did not notice the glass in time she could have definitely cut herself. Although we love the food, we are disappointed that our food was sent out this way. If glass broke near anyone's food, I would like to think the restaurant did the precaution and made a new one.

Connor D.

Yelp
Good service, great food, fair prices. Will go back. Margarita pizza was particularly satisfying.

R M.

Yelp
I ordered from them twice while i was in ABQ last month. I got pizza with vegan cheese, which was good, and came with a little side of spicy oil and red pepper flakes. I wish we had a place like this in Denver, I can't stop thinking about the spicy oil.

Jerome R.

Yelp
Delicious upscale pizza. Really been into the lasagna lately. Friendly attentive staff. Never been disappointed.

Vaughn F.

Yelp
Pizza is perhaps not the most traditional St. Patrick's Day dish, but it's what my girlfriend was craving today, so off we went to Il Vicino. Specifically, she mentioned wanting to eat a brick-oven margherita; we ordered one of those and one Motorino. Our pies were ready in under ten minutes and arrived looking great. The waitress grated some parmesan on top and we got to work divvying up slices. The margherita had a chewy crust with zesty sauce and fresh mozzarella, just how we pictured it. I added some crushed red pepper flakes to amp up the spice. The crust I dipped in spicy oil, a delightful finale for each slice. The Motorino, however, is a whole other animal. Alfredo sauce, pesto, artichoke hearts, caramelized onions... Wow. A greasy affair, with plenty of veggies to chew through. Restraining ourselves, my girlfriend and I took a few slices of each back home with us. Good for a snack, or a quick breakfast before class. Once again, Il Vicino made me happy. See you again soon.

Aaron L.

Yelp
Service was nice, everyone is nice. Food quality is ok. Place closed early around 9. The pepperoni pizza is good.

Joe P.

Yelp
Good variety of pizza options and other food selections. Simple but good wine and beer selection. Had the number 6 and is real good. Throw in some wine and really good. People are nice and friendly. Will be back. Jessica and Bryanna were both great conversationalist and added to the wonderful personality of Vicino nob hill.

Anna M.

Yelp
I am OBSESSED with the Burrata salad and the Mediterraneo flat bread sandwich. I order both every time and then fight over which I will consume first. Their vinaigrette is the best Ive ever had.

Derron S.

Yelp
Nice friendly place to go out with friends. You can each get your own pizza for a reasonable price. Go there every few months when we want a change of pace

Sirena-Simone D.

Yelp
So darn good. We are from out of town, and was ordering in at a hotel. We were pleasantly surprised at the food quality . Ordered three different pizzas and salads and it was all made fresh and the ingredients was a surprise. Thx.

Jordan W.

Yelp
This little area of Nob Hill has everything you can imagine; sort of like the main drag where all the college kids go on a Friday or Saturday night. I came across this place when exploring the town at night. Parking is difficult but there are many places to go once you find a spot. The menu is at the front and you order at the counter. They bring it to you once you sit down, and there are also drinks available. However, we decided to sit at the bar to get some recommendations from the bartender on where to go. Many beers on tap and with two sizes. Make sure to get a small one if you want to try several. The pizzas are pricy, but delicious. I had the one with artichokes and olives. I wish I could keep coming back for this particular pizza. You can also take some toppings off or add some upon request. I think I might want to try more of a meat pizza next time I make it to town.
