An iconic Tashkent theater, absolutely a must visit if you speak Russian (although they occasionally have plays with English subtitles). Ilkhom is famous for its intimate small stage contemporary productions covering a wide variety of topics, often bold and controversial. I always try to see a play or two when I visit the country; I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I attended a photo vernissage of Tashkent's acclaimed twentieth century film festival. The venue is appropriate to host such events, for it is spacious and quaint.

Ilkhom is the unique theater in Uzbekistan. If you have a chance to visit this place because of any purpose will it be for the show or rock fest or just to see this place, you will be amazed by the magic of Ilkhom.

One of Tashkent's most important cultural assets and the first avant-garde experimental theatre in the USSR. A must visit for anyone passing through. Check their schedule for English plays. You can pick up a flyer at the front desk.

Excellent theatre. Watched the Tin Drum here and was amazing. Needed some translation as didn't have subtitles as some of the plays do. The they're space itself is superb with the audience almost in the midst of the characters. Will be back for more

One of the few places where culture is alive. Small, hidden, minimalist and magic. You feel to be part of the show. From dramas to concerts. From Alisher Navoiy to Grass, Kafka, Gozzi. Italian commedia dell'arte, traditional Asian subjects, contamination of techniques, music of different backgrownds. At the end watching the show in Russian is just details - And you can dream what you do not understand. Top end!
