Illa Experience Hotel & Spa

Simply a 'top notch' hotel! This hotel was booked for us by Royal Galapagos, and they could not have found a finer hotel that met our taste and needs. The hotel is off centre from the major squares in Quito, so just right in order to see all the main attractions by foot. ||We were met by Christian who oriented us to the hotel and our room. We had requested an upgrade and reserved room #244 which turned out to be an excellent decision. The room was large with three large windows overlooking a quiet street (other rooms have windows facing the courtyard of the hotel). The room was well appointed with an equally large bathroom. Everything in the hotel from the small pool in the entrance way and the many superb paintings throughout the hotel, to the furnishings and flowers in the little garden is done with taste and style.||The breakfast was excellent with a mini buffet as well as a la carte menu. In the evening a fire pit is lit overlooking the mountain and the statue of the Virgin of Panecillo. Some evenings a savory is cooked for guest returning from a day of touring. Dinner was also a la carte and excellent (albeit somewhat expensive). ||The staff was uniformly pleasant and helpful. In summary, this hotel was a wonderful way to start our Ecuadorian adventure.

The Illa Experience Hotel was recommended to us and it did not disappoint. The hotel building is an architect’s dream, with interesting features throughout. Our suite was very large, well designed, and nicely furnished. The restaurants are charming and the menu inventive and delicious. The street is full of lovely coffee shops and restaurants. What a delightful place!

The hotel is lovely and the service is impeccable. It’s a boutique hotel so note, there are defined restaurant hours. We arrived after the restaurant was closed and the team was more than willing to grab us a nosh to tide us over until breakfast. William, from the front desk is a gem. He was so kind and accommodating and inquisitive of what else he could do to make our stay excellent. Andres worked the dinners in the restaurant and he too is top-notch with a beautiful attitude. Michael worked breakfast and was excellent as well. My only comment for consideration, there is no air conditioning in rooms and granted Quito doesn’t need air conditioning, but our room faced the courtyard (which was under construction) and even with a window open, the air does not move at all. Because the room and shower are open concept it got very warm. Still rating our stay 5 star. Location was good, walkable to square and various attractions.

We got an amazing room which had a separate seating area and a good size bathroom. The reception was very good, staff were wonderful and organized a cultural event every late afternoon.||Breakfast was good, with a beautiful view of Quito.||Didn't quite get the 5 star review because the bed, although huge, definitely needs a new matrass, and cleaning upon arrival was not up to standard. The gym was not good compared to the high standard of the hotel. It was a tiny room with one tredmill and a few weights. ||Otherwise we had a wonderful stay and were pampered by the staff!

This hotel is very atmospheric, comfortable rooms in a great location. However the food was dreadful. No one in our group of 16 had anything positive to say. This was the worst food we have had in a two week trip to Ecuador including on a small boat and in the middle of the Ecuadorian Amazon where our final destination was reached by canoe. It was not cheap and I cook better food at home. Further a small bottle of water costs $5US. One positive was that the staff were very polite and friendly.

We went the first week it opened, accidentally. We had only booked 1 night but fell in love and stayed 3. The food was unbelievable, wonderful service and such a stunning concerted mansion. Can’t wait to return someday! Highly recommend!

After travelling for 24 hours from the UK we arrived shattered in the darkness . |We were greeted with the gorgeous night lights over the Panecillo and the Virgin statue ||Our room had the view along with the outside terrace with burning cauldron.|We walked the dark deserted streets of the old town to get an i goal|bind with the place we had arrived after being given instructions of where it was safe to walk. The location is beautiful with the narrow streets. ||The breakfast was simply lovely in the egg restaurant and the sun shone in the lovely view we had seen the night before ||It's a small intimate hotel that's takes complete individual care of you|Nothing is too much trouble.We felt well looked after. The internal decorations of the hotel with its inner courtyard are beautifully done. ||They even got coffee and boiled eggs ready for our early departure back to the airport after the second night

Illa was welcoming both in service and the beautiful hotel space itself. Wonderful hospitality - breakfast and dinner with a view. Nice touches to make our stay even better.
