Ilsington Country House Hotel & Spa

Lovely stay. Very comfortable hotel. Well planned rooms with all you need for a good night's sleep. Excellent food in both restaurant and bar. Clearly very skilled chef using good local ingredients. Spa is a real added extra with very good treatments. All staff unfailingly friendly and helpful. Good location just on the edge of Dartmoor but Dartmouth and S Deon beaches just 40 minutes away. I thought it good value for the for the quality of the hotel and it's food

Spent a wonderful evening at the hotel. Staff friendly, efficient and polite. Rooms clean and modern with lovely touches like homemade flapjacks. Food in the restaurant was outstanding both for diner and breakfast. The spa was a great touch too with a lovely pool and sauna as well as a seriously well equipped gym. Had an excellent massage from Victoria in the spa who was very professional and courteous. Will definitely be returning!

Besides being in a fabulous spot on the edge of the moors, this delightful hotel is exceptional for a few reasons, but mainly for the remarkable service and staff. Nothing is too much trouble, they are speedy, responsive, warm and welcoming. We enjoyed the main restaurant both nights, the food was freshly prepared, perfectly cooked and presented. The indoor pool was a bonus and the daily homemade flapjack left in the room is sublime. We had a suite which was well worth the extra cost to relax in after a day out. Highly recommended.

We can’t thank the team enough for taking my husband and me in when The Moorland Hotel failed to book us a pet-friendly room. From the moment we arrived, we felt genuinely welcomed and cared for.||The service was brilliant — every member of staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable. We were especially grateful that a table was set up for us in the bar so we could have our dog with us. Such a simple gesture made a huge difference and showed how thoughtful and accommodating the team is.||Our stay was for my husband’s birthday, and thanks to your kindness and attention to detail, it turned out to be a truly lovely and memorable night away.

We always have a lovely relaxing stay at Ilsington. We love the spa and appreciate the fact that the management try and keep the numbers down otherwise it wouldn’t be the relaxing, quiet experience that we enjoy. The hotel itself is not modern but it’s clean and the staff are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is good with quick and efficient service. It’s a short drive up to the moor where you can do as much or as little walking as you like!

A really lovely holiday base. We walked a lot on the moors - and in the magical nearby 'temperate rainforest' woods (near Bovey Tracey) - great for shelter in wet or hot weather! Talking of wet weather, the pool was great. A lovely relaxed vibe in the hotel with very friendly staff. Quite superb food - much better than we can cook, and we had a week off from cooking which was great! I'd let the hotel know of diet restrictions in advance if poss - they did a special menu for our son who has some allergies which was really helpful as well as reassuring. The (very good) breakfast can take a while so allow enough time if you have a deadline. (Mind you, the buffet was good if you don't want to wait for a cooked option.)

Easy to find hotel a short distance from main road. Well appointed comfortable hotel in a beautiful setting on Dartmoor.||Staff friendly and helpful. Stayed on DBB rate. Very good value. Food excellent, well presented and tasty. Would recommend this hotel and plan to visit again in the future.

A wonderful place to stay within the beauty of Dartmoor. Nothing is too much for those caring for guests. We have been coming for 22 years, sometimes just for fun and relaxation but also, from time to time, to convalesce from illness. On all occasions everybody has been attentive and kind. A place and people I cannot recommend too highly.

Eaten here twice this year fantastic both times!! I had the bar menu first time And the A la carte menu the second time round, I went with my elderly Aunt and uncle they are picky but found it impossible to pick a fault with anything. I adore this hotel and everything from the price to the staff and the food is incredible!! The price is higher than most but very much worth it! Go here expecting to spend a few bob, but Come home more than satisfied and wishing you stayed!
