I visited this location today to watch a movie with my children. This was not my first visit. I have been here multiple times before, and many people I know have also highly recommended this theatre. Ever since discovering this location, I have completely stopped going to the theatre I used to frequent. The overall satisfaction level has always been very high. The location is convenient, and the staff’s consistently friendly attitude and welcoming smiles deserve high praise.
Today, we arrived about 20 minutes before the movie started. I bought popcorn for my children, and we were seated on time. However, about 10 minutes before the screening of Zootopia 2, I had to take my children out of the theatre.
From the moment we entered, something felt wrong. It was hard to tell whether we were walking into a construction site or a Halloween setup. The surroundings were chaotic, and the smell of fresh paint and chemicals was overwhelming. I strongly believe that children should not be expected to watch a movie in such conditions, and I feel compelled to raise this concern.
I requested that the ceiling fans be turned on to help reduce the odor. Instead, staff brought out Febreze and attempted to spray it. I asked whether this made any sense, considering that the chemical smell was already intense. Adding another chemical fragrance did not seem like common sense. I was told there were no other options.
I requested a refund and asked several questions:
Was this location forced to open by head office?
Were there truly no safety or health guidelines in place under these conditions?
It felt as though customer and employee well-being was completely disregarded in favor of continuing operations and generating revenue. I was deeply upset thinking about the staff, who likely had to work full-time while breathing in these fumes all day. Anyone would experience headaches or physical discomfort under such conditions. That alone is unacceptable.
I cannot help but ask this:
If the theatre’s executives or decision-makers had planned to bring their own families to watch a movie today, would they have allowed it? Or would they have advised them not to come?
I sincerely ask that this business reconsider its priorities and recognize the importance of basic human consideration, for both customers and employees. A business that focuses only on making small amounts of money at the expense of health, safety, and dignity ultimately loses something far more valuable.
Please operate with consideration and responsibility.
