Imani Country House

What a beautiful and special place this is! Set in the gorgeous Evora countryside amongst fruit and olive trees, this quiet retreat is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy nature. The service is outstanding — thank you Antonio and Nuno …. Everything was perfect. The food here is also amazing — be sure to enjoy the dinners snacks and breakfast. ||We also visited a nearby vineyard Joao Portugal Ramos which we highly recommend. The wine tasting and lunch were fantastic!

We are on a driving tour of Portugal north of Lisbon and this was our first stop (I suppose Evora isn’t technically north of Lisbon). What an incredible place. It takes about 3 km on a dirt road to get here and it’s amazing. Just 7 rooms and ours was very comfortable. Very design forward. The service is first rate. Dinner in the hotel restaurant was excellent. The provided breakfast, which you order the night before, is also very good. It’s about 20 minutes to Evora proper. Two separate pool areas and the grounds are available for short hikes. The view over a valley to the city of Evora is spectacular. Highly, highly recommended.

We stayed three days at the Imani House last May. There is a lot to like about the property. It's in a lovely pastoral setting. The bedroom and bathroom are spacious and comfortable. The shower is large (but sprayed water all over). Free water was provided. Dinners outside were good. The pool area is pretty and peaceful (though the pool was quite cold). It was fun to walk to the nearby monoliths which took about 50 minutes. |The areas that fell short were the food service and lack of service overall. When we stayed, it was obvious that there was no one really in charge- no owner, no manager. There always seemed to be inadequate staff to meet the need of customers. Henry and Nuno worked very hard doing multiple tasks and were a joy, however, there was a deficit in staffing. There were long waits for breakfast, lunch and dinner which were served haphazardly. Staff were unable to identify who should be served which items during meals. Breakfast in particular was chaotic and late. Pancakes were cold, the fruit was unripe, the bacon was undercooked. We disliked having to order every single item in advance, including bread, honey, milk, etc. Lastly, we came upon a poor donkey on the property that looked as if it hadn't been cared for- it appeared underfed and had terribly matted hair. We felt sad to see this.|If the service aspects of this property were improved, I would happily rate it higher and recommend it, but at the time we stayed, it fell short of expectations.

Supreme! We loved our stay at Imani Country House. Do not let the dirt road to the entrance deter you. Once you have arrived you won’t want to leave this beautiful setting. The staff was engaging and most pleasant. Excellent English was appreciated. Our large suite was luxurious. I wish we had been there during warmer weather when we could have taken advantage of the two swimming pools. We dined in the evening there for dinner and were served a delicious meal. Breakfast was a treat also. You will be surrounded by orange and olive trees on the property. The Inn and public rooms are delightfully decorated with curated objects. Staying here was the highlight of our visit to nearby Evora. Highly recommend.

This place is magical. It feels like a drink of cool water on a hot dusty day. The rutted track leading to the house prepares you to slow down and very consciously arrive. Terraced orange groves surround the gated estate, higher up than neighbouring farms which affords a wide view across cork trees, grass and flower meadows. The only sounds are birds, the distant bells of grazing cattle and tinkling fountains. There is so much nature to enjoy- birdsong, foxes lounging in the sun, tawny owls at night. We had planned to visit Evora but instead spent our entire time on the estate or going for dawn walks before the heat rose. We were taken care of so well but also only when we needed something, we loved the balance between hospitality and being given space. We are already planning our return visit, we will always hold the magic of this special place in our memories. |Our room and bathroom were well appointed, stylish and we slept soundly. We ate all our meals outside in the garden watching the birds and dragonflies with the fox trotting by-Vera and her colleagues were always friendly and helpful. For our first trip to Portugal, we were looking for something special and boy did we find it. This place is a hidden gem at the end of a dirt road, tucked away among orange trees, with just seven rooms and the warmest hospitality you can imagine. Calling it a hotel doesn’t quite do it justice. It feels far more intimate and personal, like a secluded retreat. We stayed for two nights but easily could have stayed much longer. Everything—from the food to the service, the atmosphere to the facilities—contributes to a unique sense of comfort and belonging that’s hard to find elsewhere. Despite having only a few rooms, the property is spacious and beautifully designed, with two pools and a cozy outdoor area offering stunning views. It felt incredibly private; at times we barely saw other guests, making us wonder how such a peaceful experience was even possible. A heartfelt thank-you to Vera and Antonio, who have been with the property for years and are truly exceptional. Their kindness and care made our stay unforgettable. We’ll absolutely be back.

One of the loveliest places I’ve been. Small and private. You arrive in an orange orchard that smells amazing. The food was great, the staff even better. There are small pools, an outdoor bar and eclectic decor everywhere. We were there during the country-wide blackout and they were great in responding to our needs and making sure we were kept up to date and comfortable. I’d live there!!

Incredible location - so peaceful right in the middle of nature (but not too far from Évora). The rooms are spacious and very clean. The staff is AMAZING! Truly, they were extremely friendly, accommodating, and kind. We were there for two nights and really enjoyed it.
