A full sensory experience. One of the largest screens in the world (6 stories high!). The sound was awesome. For the full effect, get the exotic booth in the back with the VIP treatment.

Being very disappointed about this week from the 11/09/25 to the day I came to the cinema which is the 14/09/25, you guys didn’t have the combo I booked for which was for demon slayer, that came with the exclusive cup & popcorn, even though I booked in advance from when the tickets where announced/released, you guys should’ve had stock for the week or the 2 weeks of the launch since it’s a big premiere movie world wide to come out.. but yet the cinema was very clean & staff was super nice & generally sorry about the stock not being available.

IMAX Sydney is an IMAX movie theatre in Darling Harbour, Sydney, Australia. It is the 2nd largest IMAX theatre in the southern hemisphere and the 3rd largest in the world. It has an eight-storey screen with the capacity to seat 540 people, and cost AU$18 million to construct. It is operated by Event Cinemas and is located within The Ribbon. The Ribbon is a hotel, apartment building, retail store and movie theatre located in Darling Harbour, Sydney. It contains the W Sydney hotel and IMAX Sydney. The building is named The Ribbon due to its unusual ribbon-like appearance. IMAX opened on 26 September 1996. Two other IMAX theatres are IMAX Melbourne and Canberra.

Theatre screen and sound quality is amazing. The bar and seating area is very up market and classy. Would recommend coming here to see you favourite films. Pricing is a little expensive.

A good experience over all, the staff was very friendly and welcoming, not the best variation of food and drinks, but you are heading the for the IMAX experience and that is what you get.

I would normally prefer IMAX to watch only the true IMAX movies than the digitally remastered or the ones with only some scenes enhanced to fit the IMAX aspect ratio. For true IMAX lovers undoubtedly the ultimate cinematic experience is here. Feels it like you're immersed in it. This is the 3rd IMAX screen I've watched movies on and it's the best so far. Even better if it's on a cheap Tuesday as you get to watch it for half prize.

I finally got to experience IMAX for the first time, and it absolutely lived up to the hype! I’ve always heard great things about it, and now I see why—it’s truly a next-level movie experience. We watched the latest Marvel movie, and from the moment it started, I was blown away by how immersive it was. The screen is absolutely massive, making every scene feel larger than life. The picture quality was stunning, with sharp details and vibrant colors that made the visuals pop. The sound system was just as impressive—every explosion, soundtrack, and line of dialogue was crystal clear, making it feel like you were right in the middle of the action. Beyond the screen and sound, the seats were also really comfortable, adding to the overall experience. It felt like the perfect setting to enjoy a big blockbuster. While standard cinemas are great, IMAX takes everything to a whole new level, making the movie feel even more engaging and exciting. If you’re a movie fan and haven’t tried IMAX yet, I highly recommend it. It’s definitely worth the price for an unforgettable experience. I’ll be coming back for sure!

Absolutely dreadful experience at IMAX Sydney. We went to see Fantastic Four, and just as Galactus was about to destroy the city, the screen suddenly went black. No announcement, no staff — just silence. We sat there for 30 minutes before someone finally came out to say, “It’s an international issue, there’s nothing we can do.” Seriously? This is IMAX Sydney. You’re telling me a global issue stopped a movie from simply being restarted where it left off? It felt like a lazy excuse — as if that explanation was pulled from where the sun doesn’t shine. Then we had to wait another 10 minutes outside in line for refunds, only to be told if you bought online, the money will be returned in 2–3 business days. No apology. No empathy. Just a disorganised, unprofessional mess. We travelled 40 minutes from Liverpool, paid $25 for parking, $20 for a food combo, $40 in tolls, and then another 40 minutes back home — for nothing. Just a black screen and a shrug. I’m absolutely gutted. IMAX is supposed to be a premium experience, but this was anything but. Never again.
