Not a bad experience but a meal starts off on a bad note when you walk into a totally empty restaurant and are told the only way to get a window table is if you promise to leave within 1.5 hours. The only way we would ever be at a table that long would be because of THEIR slow service. After being seated we then waited 10 minutes for a menu to come. After that arrived service speed picked up and the food quality was quite good. We got out after an hour with the restaurant still having several empty tables. Portion sizes were good except for the ice cream scoop that was tiny for the price. They also offer a decent view. A good experience overall except for the poor customer service greeting.

Took my wife and family here for a birthday dinner. Cannot speak highly enough- from making the reservation to arrival and the wait staff and food. The atmosphere was fancy, the food was well portioned and delicious, the wine great, the dessert out of this world!

We booked this restaurant hoping we'd have outside seating but we were told it's not available. The food was good but nothing special. The server was slow and not very friendly. We were also surprised to see that we got charged for the bread that we did not order thinking it's complimentary like any of the restaurants here in the US. The place is a bit tight for all the people that evening.

Delicious! One of the best restaurants we have enjoyed in our visit to Salzburg and Vienna. We enjoyed the Seabass and the Lobster ravioli. The service was friendly and helpful. There are plenty of seating choices including inside and outside tables, overlooking the surrounding area.

Will NEVER go to this restaurant again. Why do restaurant place the rudest person at the front desk??? I experienced the folks taking care of the people with reservations to be very rude. I got there early and they're were NO one there in the dining area. They wanted to sit me in between a column. I asked could I sit at a table with a view since they're is no one there? The maitre'd said no cause all 2-chairs tables were reserved for 6:30 and 7. No problem that is why we are here early and only wanted apps and a drink. Nope! Uugghhh.. the only reason I don't give them less than a star is because the waiter was nice and the food was good. But the night was ruined by rude service at the beginning of my visit.

Google
The space is modern and well designed with beautiful views of the City. Went with a group of friends and would encourage making a reservation. We all enjoyed our meals, from the appetizer to the entrees. I had the Sea Bass, which was incredibly seasoned and delicious! Great service, too.

I expected more. The personnel could have been more customer friendly. It was not only us but with everyone. We ordered stake and we had to ask when it was served for the stake knives. The steak was more steamed than seared, tender but tasteless (Austrian rind steak), stake fries is just regular French fries. The cocktails were served in hands… not on trays… . The interior is elegant the panorama is limited. It is pricey but this is Salzburg and supposed to be a good restaurant but based on all above the experiences it is high price for the value. A better restaurant leader could make a difference.

Google
I had the best truffle polenta with beef cheek of my life, really enjoyed the wine as well. And the service was friendly. To get a table outside by the corner of the restaurant for the best views, I recommend a reservation it is very difficult to get one.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant in a rush to eat a late dinner before everything in Salzburg closed. Luckily, we arrived right before their last call for food orders. The ambiance was nice and the service was okay. We were missing American food, so we ordered Long Island Iced Teas and the Cheeseburger with steak fries. I'm not typically a fan of Long Island Iced Teas, but it was surprisingly good and the taste of alcohol was disguised very well. The meal was delicious and filling. The fries and dipping sauces came in a cute little tower.

Yelp
A bougie rooftop bar is never a bad spot to spend a summer evening and this is no exception. It's not exactly on high on floor 6, so there is some rooftop interference from the congress center across the street. However the views of mountain peaks and the fortress are still worth a stop in if you can sit outside. Sitting inside is like the torture of being tantelizingly close to something great but not being able to quite reach it. I had to start off inside as the smaller tables on the bar side were occupied, but I pounced and asked if I could move outside at the first chance I got. My G&T was just the thing for a warm summer afternoon, and was priced accordingly for bougie rooftop bars.

Yelp
Excellent espresso martini. Friendly and courteous service. Bartender knows his stuff. Fluent in English

Yelp
We were told by our hotel this place has the best schnitzel in town, and ya, they were completely wrong. Dinner was very expensive and I would give the meal a B- rating, it was just not worth the money!! When you pay this much, you expect something directly proportional! Won't be coming back. Service was meh, had to constantly wave down our waiter

Yelp
We walked here directly from a performance at Mirabel palace, and, since they did an encore, we were about 15 minutes late for our reservation. The restaurant was to close in 15 minutes by the time we got there, and I asked if we were too late. The staff welcomed us to sit in and we were seated cordially. I ordered the Wienerschnitzel, and my wife had Sea bass. Both dishes were excellent, we ate every bit of it. Our server and other staff spoke English, which was great because we do not speak German. We did not sit outside, because it was very chilly. The restaurant was very elegant and intimate. The servers were really nice also. We were too full for dessert, plus I think the kitchen had closed.

Yelp
This place is absolutely amazing. Food - Great! The pappardelle was amazing and the schnitzel was also good. Service - Great The view from the sky bar is absolutely amazing, you can see the mountains, the fortress, and the city from a sky view. Overall, this place is amazing.

Yelp
The view and service was spectacular. My Caesar salad was chicken perfection. A chilly day so we sat inside . Good pic spot.

Yelp
Best rooftop bar in Salzburg! Service is great and the views are stunning. Lots of food options from steaks, fish to vegetarian. I went with the schnitzel that was the best I've ever had.

Marissa C.

Yelp
Beautiful rooftop restaurant. Food was good and came out quickly. They forgot to bring my wine though and took about 20 minutes to get the check after asking for it.

Yelp
This restaurant is on the rooftop of the Imlauer hotel. I would recommend a reservation if you're in a group, but I didn't have a reservation and I came for an earlier dinner and didn't have issues getting a spot. I sat outside for the views. It's not the best rooftop view as there's some nearby tall buildings that are a bit in the way. The servers are very friendly. I got a filet, dessert, and wine. It's expensive but the food is good and you are also paying for the view. There's no specific dress code so feel free to dress up or come in casually. They have some blankets outside for when it gets cold.

Yelp
Reservations for two on Christmas Eve were - unsurprisingly - hard to come by. My Austrian colleague about peed her pants when I told her I hadn't planned anything for Christmas Eve, and talking to her was enough to put the fear of starvation into me. I did have a couple of choices when I finally sat down to research, but booked a reservation at Imlauer because a) they were close to our hotel, and 2) they promised ambiance with that view. The restaurant is located on the 6th floor of the building, and they have only one elevator. I was keen to take the stairs - as I always am when given the choice between a creaky old box on springs and my own two legs on stairs - but deferred to my husband, who was worried about the time, and who thought that us taking the stairs would mean we'd show up late and lose our reservation. Hunger makes him irrational, sometimes. At any rate, we rode the elevator up with another party of four - barely squeezing into that creaky old box on springs, I might add - and were deposited at the entrance to the restaurant. The hostess took our jackets before leading us to a table. We had a nice view of the surrounding area, which we of course had to immortalize in a few dozen pictures before settling in to view the menu. We started with a couple Stiegl-Goldbräu pints while taking our time with the menu. For my main, I opted for the Rinderfiletsteak and Gebratene Garnelen (basically surf and turf, with filet and shrimp). That came with vegetables and rosemary potatoes. My husband ordered the Geschmortes Rinderbackerl (Braised Beef Cheeks), which came with a red wine gravy, polenta and celery. Their menus are in German, but have English translations at the bottom of every entry, by the way. Though the restaurant was packed, it didn't take long for our food to come out. My surf and turf looked exactly as described, and came with an herbed butter and a pot of something that I to this day couldn't tell you what it was. I remember guessing that it was some kind of caramelized onion mix, but I honestly have no idea. The steak was perfectly cooked, and the two shrimp were expertly seasoned. They did seem a bit overly-done - a bit on the chewy side - but it wasn't anything a bit of that herbed butter couldn't fix. I loved the rich sauce that pulled everything together, and the rosemary potatoes were evenly crispy and tender. The seasonal vegetables felt more like a relish, but it was nice to have some greenery on my plate, and they were fresh and bright, balancing out the richness of the sauce and meat. My husband loved his meal, as well, though he did comment later that he got the beef cheeks thinking it'd be lighter fare. I'm not sure what about made him think that, especially since the menu said it came with a red wine gravy, but again - hunger = irrational. He remarked as we were eating that the meat was incredibly tender and that the polenta gave the dish a creaminess that helped balance the savory of the meat. We took our time savoring the food, and our second pints of Goldbräu, enjoying the scenery, the people-watching (one family brought their dog into the restaurant, which tickled me immensely) and the company. Our waiter tried to talk us into dessert, but we were both too full, and honestly, had our hearts set on stopping by a market for some pastries to see us through the night. Our waiter started off a bit cool, but definitely warmed up and became much more animated as our meal wore on. He was friendly and courteous, and seemed to get a kick out of me practicing my German on him. He also went out of his way to help us get our jackets as we were leaving, since the hostess had gotten pulled away at that point. It was an impulse reservation, but it worked out in every way. We walked out (and down the six flights of stairs, thankyouverymuch) satiated, happy and pleased with everything about the day. Can't ask for much more than that.

Yelp
My mom and I had a great dinner here! The restaurant is at the top of a hotel on the sixth floor and has a great view of Salzburg, including the fortress, which makes dining very pleasant. Our waiter was very efficient and brought our drinks and food out quickly. I ordered the surf and turf and both the filet and shrimp had great flavor. The sweet potato purée was surprisingly rich and delicious. My mom got the sole and enjoyed it. We finished our meal with splitting apple strudel with vanilla sauce. It was warm and flavorful and we ate every bite! I recommend coming here for a nice meal in Salzburg.

Yelp
We can't stop talking about how great both of our meals were. Nothing but great things to say about this restaurant - the food, the staff, the ambiance, the DESERT, all EXCELLENT!!!

Yelp
Just amazing. The view on top is good but don't go for that. But the food and the service is perfect. Twice we dined here. Perfect both times. Super high end and it is not all that more expensive than the rest of the places around.

Matt S.

Yelp
Ate breakfast here every morning of our three day stay. Great selection and quality, but the real star of the show is the view of the fortress and surrounding mountains. Breathtaking.

Yelp
Small bar, but Big service My wife and I were recently in Salzburg on a tour with friends and we went to the Sky-Bar for some drinks one night. Although the bar was small and crowded, the staff were quite pleasant and accommodating while dealing with the large crowd of people. We had 9 people, so we did have to wait a bit for a table. When a couple of tables opened up, the staff put them together for us. We had an excellent time and enjoyed our drinks. If you're staying at the Imlauer, or nearby, move up to the SkyBar for a great time with your friends.

Yelp
Food was bland, at best. Steak was poorly prepared and tasteless. Service was rude. Waiter coughed on everything. Overall a bad experience.

Yelp
We made a reservation for my husband's birthday. We got a table outside facing the fortress. It was a beautiful view. The staff was very friendly and communicated well in English. The food was very good. We had the ginger creme soup and filet, both of which were delicious. I'm not usually a fan of creme brûlée, but this was very good. The Alexander after dinner drink was excellent as well. I would highly recommend this for a more upscale dinner.

Yelp
Went here a couple of nights ago for our first night in Salzburg, and it was a really wonderful experience all around. Definitely on the more expensive side, but worth it for a high quality and delicious dining experience. I had the lamb, and my friend had the veal and both of our portions were insanely large, and were well cooked- very tender and were so filling! The service was so attentive and friendly, and the wait staff was so considerate and helpful with us being English speakers. Really pretty views of the city, and a beautiful inside dining area if the weather is not ideal! GO! You won't regret it.

Yelp
I will give it two stars because the steak wasn't terrible. I ordered the steak & prawns. The service was HORRIBLE, the hostess was cold and un-welcoming. The waiter was nice when I first took my seat but then I never saw him again. Thoroughly disappointed, I had one night in Salzburg and I wish I would have selected a different restaurant

Yelp
Very nice roof bar and restaurant. Their cocktails are mixed very well and the restaurant serves my favorite NX strip in town. Very friendly and professional wait staff. I keep going back!

Yelp
Good ambience and excellent view of the city. Service was great and attentive. Good choices and fine food. A bit pricy.

Jen G.

Yelp
The rooftop was great and had a nice view. The service was good but we didn't eat off the menu. It's a good place to check out for a drink to overlook the city. The servers were friendly and nice!
