Impasto Food Truck (St. Pete)

We ordered the grilled chicken wrap and the chicken was a weird color and had the texture of canned tuna fish. It was gross. The sauce that was on it was very good and the wrap itself was good. The chicken was so weird I couldn’t even eat more than two bites. We also ordered the steak Cesar wrap. The pictures of the food is what we were drawn too. Everyone that I asked in line did not have a favorite item because they were new customers as well. Unfortunately the steak Cesar looked nothing like steak or like the picture that was on the truck. The “steak” looked like cheap discolored lunch meat. It was pretty gross and bland. Again, I could not nor did I want to finish the so called “steak”. The line cook on the truck basically argued with me when I first saw it and brought it to their attention that this is not steak nor does it look like any steak I have ever seen in the 35 years of me consuming it. The staff were pretty rude. The man that took our order after paying on his square card machine (that only has a “tap” pad and NO screen to confirm purchase or leave a tip. Instead he shouts out, “Do you want to leave a tip?” And I immediately said, “no thank you, we will tip after we experience the service.” I’m sure you can tell by my story that we did not go back. Btw. The picture below is the “steak”.

Food is so good!! I tried this place because they came to my apartment complex. I couldn’t even take a picture of it 😭 but the taste of the pasta is so fresh and the sauce is so tasteful. The bread was so good toooooooo!! Please go to this place.

They came to my place of employment and I had the meatball wrap and I think it was very good. I really enjoyed it. It was packed with meat and tomatoes and mozzarella. And the sauce they gave me was absolutely delicious, I had to ask for a second cup of it. Definitely recommend and I hope to see them again.

The menu and pictures of food was what attracted us to this truck compared to the other food trucks but the food did not meet our expectations. The cannoli was good, however, the French fries were not crispy and some were close to raw. We took the food home right away (only 4 blocks) and the fries were not even warm. The meatball wrap did not have meatballs. It was ground meat unless they squashed them when they rolled the wrap. The flavor, however was good but the outer wrap was rubbery. The grilled chicken seemed to be shredded thigh meat and the outer wrap was rubbery. The arugula inside was nice and fresh though. I could not eat the gross looking chicken but the dog enjoyed it. The wraps went into the trash and we made something else to eat.

Preordered my food at 9am. 1 order of arancini and a side of fries. Got 2 emails and 2 text confirmations. No indication of any issues. I go to pick up my food, no arancini. But, they’re willing to “upgrade” my side of fries (already paid $5) to a regular serving…Mind you, a regular serving of their fries is $8-9 and so is the arancini. You’re not doing me a favor, you’re just swapping them out at this point. And if you’re “upgrading” you’re only giving me the difference in serving size. So, now you want to charge me $15 for something that costs $8-9. I don’t think so! That math doesn’t come close to mathing. The fries were disgusting. You could taste the freezer burn and I was told they were fresh, but they we cold…So…I didn’t finish them, went back to work without having had lunch and will never eat here again.

We regularly have food trucks come to the office, and the caliber of food can range from sublime to horrible. Impasto's fresh ingredients, and unique menu variety was a pleasant change from the fried foods one usually sees from food trucks. I had the chicken tomato wrap, and the fresh basil combination with this wrap was fantastic. I was suspicious of the fried risotto rounds, but I was pleasantly surprised! An enjoyable meal, and I hope to see them back again soon so I can try something else on their menu!

It was fine I guess. The food didn’t look like the pictures which was a pretty big disappointment. When you anticipate a nice gyro style wrap with fresh add ins and it comes to you looking like a Mexican burrito…it’s a little disappointing. Fries were a touch soggy as well.
