14 Best Spas in San Francisco | Condé Nast Traveler

"A communal spa meant to be enjoyed with friends, plan to be in your birthday suit for the experience. Beyond the exfoliating treatments, don't miss the red and yellow clay room, a heated sauna that helps detoxify the body." - Elise Craig

Google
Exactly what I was looking for. I am someone who enjoys the sauna -> cold-plunge cycle, with some hot tub time too. Thats what I'm looking for in a spa. The spa was clean, had plenty of room for all the patrons, and had what I needed. The dry sauna was a good temperature and the cold plunge was PERFECT for me. It was very deep and spacious so more than 1 person could use it at a time, and it was cold enough to give me the benefits I needed but not so cold that I wasn't able to use it (like some places). If I could change anything I'd raise the hot tub temp a couple degrees, and maybe add a lay-flat option for the chairs. But other than that it was perfect. The price was fair, and the length of stay allowed was 3 hours, which is an hour longer than other spas I've been to. I've been to the other spas in the area and I'd probably pick this one. Kabuki: Nice facilities, but they let a man into the bathouse on women's only day. They let people just identify into the private areas, which makes women unsafe. Also, they asked me to be quiet when I was breathing loudly in the cold plunge for 30 seconds, despite the showers being 4x the sound lol. Pearl: Nice facilities, but hard to get in as a spa-only use patron. I like that they are actually women only. They don't have a men's section though, so can't bring my male friends. Imperial: Best of both worlds. They have a male section so male friends and family can join, and they also keep the male and female section actually separated and protect women. The facilities were exactly what I needed, lockerroom is clean, they have dyson blow dryers and a sink in the mirror room to freshen up before a date or going out. Showers have great pressure and temp. Sauna and cold plunge were perfect. Hot tub is large and nice. Price is better than the other two, and length of stay is better than the other two, and availability is also better than the other two.

I’ve been coming here for years. There are fancier places (like Pearl) and places with way more amenities (Like Archimedes), but Imperial has always had a clean facility, a hot sauna and a really cold plunge pool. So it’s my go-to, and they take walk ins. But lately things are changing. They no longer provide slippers, which means you have to walk to the bathroom with wet feet across a hardwood floor. The cold plunge is about 65-70 degrees and the sauna is so mild that I can sit in there for a half hour without even thinking twice. Plus there are dirty towels on almost every chair, and no more salty snacks to help stave off dehydration (so bring your own!). With a fee of $40 for three hours, I’d be more than happy to pay $45 instead if it meant the amenities were actually performing as needed. As is, I won’t be coming back any time soon. It’s hard to come up with the money and time needed for a luxury like this, I’d rather save up even longer and go somewhere where I’ll get my moneys worth. :(

Google
So walking in the front desk guy was extremely rude about the time. I had a body scrub at 10:10 got there at 9:55, it was my first time, and he basically tried to cancel my appointment…I had one other friend with me, who he told me to tell not to come because he was canceling her appointment, but didn’t even know what treatments she was getting done. She still came, and another person at the front desk told here there was no problem because her massage was actually scheduled at 11:00 and we both proceeded with our spa day. Everyone else staff wise was lovely and respectful and I got the best massage I e never gotten… which redeemed the space for me. The decor is older and not flashy, but they get the job done…

Google
I got the 30 minute body scrub and 1 hour acupressure massage. Friendly welcoming staff. I recommend coming during slower hours to take advantage of the quiet. Worth every cent

Google
Overall, an okay experience, but there’s room for improvement. Steam and Sauna Area The lighting in the steam and sauna rooms should be softer to create a more peaceful, relaxing vibe. Right now, it’s far too bright, especially since the natural light from the ceiling is already plenty. The steam room grout is also covered with red mold — the entire area is in need of a serious deep clean and disinfected twice a day. Men’s Restroom The men’s restroom needs more frequent and thorough cleaning during the day. The trash can should have a lid to help contain odors from used tissues, and the urinals have a strong, unpleasant smell that should be addressed. Vanity Counter and General Cleanliness The vanity counter should be checked and cleaned regularly. It’s often cluttered with used cups, toothbrushes, and hair. The fan is dusty and ineffective — it should be cleaned or replaced, as it no longer circulates air properly. The ventilators pull air up to the ceiling, but the fan does nothing to help with airflow. The facility would really benefit from deep cleaning and more consistent upkeep throughout the day. Sanitation and disinfection of the public bath is a serious issue, please do not ignore and improve the quality.

Google
My 3rd time here and I was disappointed in the massage, which I had previously loved & appreciated from this establishment. The scrub was great but the massage was rushed and sloppy. I’ll come back for the scrub and due to imperial spa having a straightforward & tidy amenities available but will not be opting for a massage next time I’m here.

Google
I had a fabulous experience! I had a nice scrub with a massage. My skin is so soft now and I feel looser. What a fantastically relaxing way to spend a few hours! My favorite part was the Himalayan salt room with infrared light. Also the prices here are so reasonable. I’m really not sure what bad reviews are about. I’ll definitely be back.

Google
The best thing about this place is that there isn’t a ton of bells and whistles but rather a super clean spa with really straightforward and traditional services. I love it here, and also appreciate that you can always get in. Pearl is great but you have to plan so far in advance and the last time I visited Kabuki there were some unpleasant odors lingering around the sauna and steam room. Imperial is where it’s at and I always end up falling asleep in the super restful salt room. It never feels overcrowded and gets the job done.

Yelp
Must visit! My experience was really nice. I had a very good time, and it was super relaxing after I was done with the session. It is an inclusive, safe space that made me feel comfortable. It's sad to see how some people are obsessed with their "victim" card (*cough**cough* Erik) that they forget the world doesn't revolve around them. But yes, It's Highly recommend!

Yelp
Wow, and horrified at the policy changes at the Spa I have been bringing my daughter and friends here for well over 15 years. They insist and always provide sandals for you to wear because you have to visit the restroom area which can always have remnants of feces or urine around the actual toilets. As in any bathroom, In public, school's office, etc., and now they are now asking folks to walk around in the toilet area and then out in the spa areas on the furniture and where people lay down in the spas. This is pretty disgusting and a hard no. The shower areas are communal, which also means anyone who might have a fungus. You're literally showering in it. It's a sad day, but I'm headed to get a massage at another place. I won't be back to this place as long as they have unhealthy Practices.

Yelp
I showed up a little early (because they advertise free two hours before or after your service) the manager yelled at me to wait outside for 10 mins, when I stepped outside and received this email: He was so hostile, I don't even want to walk back in there to ask for an explanation.

Yelp
Absolutely the worst spa experience I've ever had. I went with a friend for a scrub and massage, and both services were extremely rough and uncomfortable. I understand that Korean scrubs can be intense, but I told my therapist at least eight times that it was hurting and she didn't stop. The massage was also equally as rough, with no regard for comfort. A day later my skin broke out and I had some bruising and scratches. To make things worse, the staff were unfriendly from the start. They physically grabbed us/ shoved us instead of asking us to move during the treatment. Afterward, one of the masseuses insisted multiple times that we tip 20%, even though the experience was painful and unprofessional. When we declined, she screamed at us in front of other customers. This was not relaxing, healing, or professional in any way. One of the worst experiences ever and I would never ever recommend this spa to anyone.

Micah T.

Yelp
ATTENTION!!! DO NOT waste your money or time attempting this "spa" because if you do, you will leave even more stressed out than you came in. The customer service is more like customer harassment. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

Remus L.

Yelp
Definitely feels like a change in ownership. While I thought the prior owner and workers were brusque, the new owners are even worse. It no longer feels like a Korean spa and feels like a cheap Chinese wanna be Korean spa. Gone are the days of getting two free masks if you pay in cash and the masseuses are just not the same. They felt inexperienced and just randomly "massaging" you. You're better off some where else.

Amaker L.

Yelp
I went back a third time because I am injured and it's close to my house. I said at the desk to the two managers who are always there. This is my 3rd attempt coming here, if something bad happens again im not coming back. As soon as I sat down to take my shoes off they inform me they no longer offer sandals - and there were none for sale. Pretty sure not only is that a HUGE risk for injury especially if you are old or injured due to WET TILE FLOORS EVERYWHERE. but also - gross- that is a breeding ground for infection etc. This place literally just needs to be purchased by someone new - Can you imagine going into a STEAM room - fully nude with bare feet and trying not to bust open your head? also - kitchen scrubber and Irish spring for a body scrub = janky AF

Michelle N.

Yelp
While my first experience here was good, my second experience was awful. They use a kitchen scrub brush for full body scrubs. A hard plastic bristle brush meant for scouring pans. I scheduled a massage and it was obvious that THE PERSON I WAS WITH WAS NOT TRAINED. SHE PUT GOBS OF BABY OIL ON MY BODY AND PROCEEDED TO SMEAR IT AROUND. She kept lifting my shoulders up off the table, as if that was a helpful move. I had requested deep tissue and THIS PERSON DID NOT KNOW DEEP TISSUE and didn't do anything that resembled deep work. I planned to go into the hot tub after my massage, but had an oil slick on my body. I contacted the spa, and they refused to offer a refund for the massage or to give me credit with another provider. Unprofessional customer service and below average practitioners.

Yelp
I would def visit this spot again. Not as many amenities as some of the larger Korean spas I've been to, but still worth a visit. There is no co-ed area here, so just an fyi to those that want a co-ed space to hang.. this is not for you. You get a robe, towels, and slippers upon entering. The shower area is clean, and there is one hot and cold tub. They only allow a certain # of people at a time so it never felt crowded. There is a wet and dry sauna, which was nice, as well as a heated clay room. I really enjoyed the clay room, and felt my body totally unwind as I was laying there. I ended my time with a Korean scrub, and let me tell you, there is no scrub like a Korean scrub. Months worth of dead skin scrubbed off my body, yeah kinda gross, but my god... baby soft skin afterwards.

Yelp
Imperial Day Spa is a hidden gem for those seeking an authentic Korean spa experience. From the moment you walk in, the tranquil atmosphere sets the tone for relaxation. The spa is clean, well-maintained, and thoughtfully designed, creating a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The Korean Body Scrub - A Must-Try The highlight of my visit was the traditional Korean body scrub, and let me tell you--it's intense but incredibly effective. The skilled therapists leave no inch of your skin untouched, scrubbing away layers of dead skin to reveal baby-soft, glowing skin. It's both invigorating and deeply cleansing, leaving you feeling refreshed and renewed. Facilities & Amenities Imperial Day Spa offers a variety of hot tubs, saunas, and steam rooms,

Yelp
Amazing day spa! Has a saunas, steam room, cold plunge and hot tub. No bathing suits allowed in pools (which I thought was odd). I would've used it if I was able to wear a bikini in. The massage was just ok but the scrub was to die for!! The pineapple scrub consists of laying on a table (naked, with others of the same gender nearby by). They spray hot water on you, scrub you with a hydrating pinaple, massages it in. Then covers you up with the foil and puts hot towels on you. Then you get a facial while that's on. Then rinses you off with more hot water, then you dry off and then get a full body massage. After the massage she gives a shampoo scalp massage. Absolutly 10-10 recommend the scrub!

Nora D.

Yelp
New management is unfriendly. Good massage therapists have left. Cleanliness and service has gone downhill . Front desk owner guy is unfriendly with bad vibes. Back to Kabuki- Imperial is ruined.

Yelp
UNSAFE FOR TRANS FOLX! I've been coming to Imperial Spa for years, but after what I witnessed, I'll never be back. I went with a trans friend who has a male CA driver's license. We checked the website--no mention of any genital policy. Everything was fine for hours... until two attendants pulled him aside. "Are you transgender?" "We had a complaint." A complaint. Because he exists. When we asked about their policy, they admitted: They segregate by genitals, not identity. They don't disclose this--until they enforce it. There's no written policy, yet they still police people's bodies. This is blatant transphobic discrimination. If you're trans, be warned: this spa does not welcome you. If you care about human rights, take your business elsewhere. Watch what happened for yourself: youtu.be/FbeAb0viPjM?si=9Gg7wv2u9ToiAKtx

Yelp
I haven't been here for years. Didn't wanted to drive to Palo Alto area so came here since I was in SF. Pearls spa is only for females and my husband wanted a scrub etc so I was booking this for my husband. This place Never pick up the phone. Text message is also just auto. Make appointment through their auto text, then when you get there appointment isn't confirmed. Trying to call them numerous times doesn't pick up. What's the point having a voice mail box. Don't waste your time. Females just go to pearl's. They will seriously loose all their customers if they manage like this

Huong T.

Yelp
I'm so confused with so many bad reviews here. You get what you pay for. And tbh, their body scrub is just great. I always feel like I'm 10 years younger after a body scrub and massage there. Regarding the transgender thing, this town needs to grow up. While I have no problem with transgenders, I have a problem with creeps who can pretend to be transgendera and walked around in women's room
google avatar

Yelp
Always a great experience been there more than a dozen times- the ladies give great massages and thorough scrubs-

k l.

Yelp
I've been to several (Korean) spas and Imperial Spa in Las Vegas is subpar. They don't keep up their facilities. Several of the areas are closed/not working so there is caution tape everywhere - not relaxing. The facilities/services they advertise are not available ie jade room, restaurant. Super disappointing.

Yelp
This is where you will be totally naked (as will all the other guests) so this is not a place to be shy, scrubbed to death (or at least all of the dead skin from just about every crevice of your body will be sloughed off), told to turn over a few times, pounded on (sometimes in a painful way) and feel like you just might slip off the rather high table. This is also where you will come out extremely soft and clean, where you can get in a hot jacuzzi or cold plunge (skipped that one), a steam sauna or a dry one and, on the women's side, a clay room for detoxifying among other good things. After a soak, steam and whatever else (drinking lots of water too), your number will be called from the upper floor. Wander up to a room with a few tables for a purification scrub & oil massage or whatever you schedule. And it begins. Warm water is splashed on you. You are scrubbed. All over. This is not a namby pamby spa. This is no nonsense and they will WORK on you. The massage is rough but good and needed. They will even climb on you to work those muscles. And you'll also get cucumbers on your face, washed all over with warm milk and your hair will be washed and conditioned with a great head massage, too! Plus, the electronic locker key bracelet also doubles as a hair tie! I will definitely head back. And I will ask for Cindy to be my attendant again.

Calder S.

Yelp
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9vXBmHKQWz4 March 5, 2025 After handing me a key to the men's side of the spa, Imperial Spa then kicked me out, stating that they have a genitalia review policy by which they segregate transgender customers based upon. See the video above, which captures their employees violating both state and city law. Shame on Yelp for deleting my original review and those of other trans people who have experienced the same thing at this spa. The reviews were factual and based on experiences that trans people had at this business and violated no community guidelines.

Shafaq A.

Yelp
You pay for what you get here. If you're looking for a clean, basic space to relax and heat up to escape the fog, this is not a bad space to chill. The space- There are 5 spaces for females- the clay room by the lockers, the hot tub, the cold plunge, sauna, and steam room. I ended up using the clay room the most. While I have a very high tolerance for heat and thoroughly enjoy using sauna/steam rooms, the sauna and steam room at this spa were way too hot. I could barely spend 30 seconds in there. There were also no other people in there in the entire time I was there. The clay room is not as hot, but still warm and I imagine a great place to start to warm up and relax. The cold plunge seemed popular, but I'm not into that. Staff- The main reason for this review is the staff. I timed my arrival to be 2 hours prior to my 45 min massage appointment, so that I could let my body relax. While the front desk staff are kind, when I checked in, the girl asked if I wanted to upgrade to the 60 min for more $$. I agreed though felt odd she would ask this. She then asked if I wanted to move up my massage by 15 mins. I declined and made it clear as I wanted to make the most of my time in the spa facilities. Well, there was miscommunication, and the massage therapist came looking for me 15 mins sooner than I had expected. (**side note they give you a number at check in, and when its time for your treatment, the massage therapists come yelling out your number-- which feels odd in a spa where people are relaxing). I told her about the time misunderstanding, but I'm not sure she understood due to the language barrier. I asked if I could quickly shower, and she seemed to get impatient stating that its time for my massage. Eventually she understood when I pointed to the shower, but she kept walking back every min or so to come get me. I felt rushed and stressed, and also felt like she had a rude demeaner, but I gave her the benefit of the doubt and maybe it was the language barrier. Massage- The massage itself was probably the most basic massage I've ever had. I always ask for deep pressure massages as I have tight muscles, but instead she was using very light pressure despite me asking for stronger pressure. At the end of the massage, she insisted that I tip her. And she asked that I come back to the massage room to deliver the envelope with the tip money when I'm done, and that she will be waiting for me. This felt a little excessive and rude. I always plan to tip 20% regardless, but I found it very off-putting about the insistence. The staff also mentioned they would give me a sheet mask when I pay in cash, so I went out of my way to get cash and they forgot to give it to me, but I also forgot to ask. No one gives you a tour either at the time of check in, even though they do ask if you've been there before. They just give you a wrist band (that turns out is also the locker key) and they expect you to understand how the locker works, where everything is, etc. I will probably not come back here, as these little things felt like they added up to be an annoying experience and took away from a relaxing afternoon. There are better spas in the area that are worth the extra cost.

Yelp
Amenities were nice and the scrub went well! The place is a bit smaller than I expected, but it did the job. My skin felt nice and smooth. The price was good for what service I got.
google avatar

PJ D.

Yelp
Solid korean spa in the city offering decent services. The scrub I had here was good and the pricing is pretty cheap for the bay area as well. However, compared to other korean spas that I have been to, it is very lacking. The mens side only had 1 hot tub, 1 cold plunge tub, 1 sauna, and 1 steam room. I've been to other korean spas in LA that had co-ed areas, various types of sauna rooms and even food so in comparison it was disappointing but for what it is it's pretty fine! I'd say good deal if you're looking for a quick body scrub!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
This was my first time at Imperial Day Spa. It's quite affordable, if you get a service you can also use the spa for 2 hours, either before or after your service. Completely co-ed and naked, although one gal had a suit on. Their texting service helped me book two appointments the next day, since the online wasn't showing appointments until the following. I got a deep tissue massage with Susan. She was really good - she started by walking on my back and then with her hands and arms. They're really professionals! The spa itself is small, and feels like your neighborhood bathhouse. Water, tea, and crackers are available. I personally was grossed out by the hot tub, way too many floating particles. But everything else was clean. Maybe the front desk can be more firm on people taking showers before entering, even after massage or scrub. My star rating: 5 - I would be a regular customer 4 - would go back again 3 - probably try a different place 2 - not very satisfied 1 - turnaround and run

Yelp
$40 for 3 hours is kinda crazy, but then again 3 hours for no rooms or anything is also crazy. steam room takes a while to get hot and steamy, but it gets there eventually. it's good but the seats aren't on a slight incline, and the ceiling is very high, so the "rain" pools down on the seats and makes for a kind of uncomfortable wet & cold seat. dry sauna is a good temperature, though could be a tad bit hotter. standing showers and seated showers are standard fare, though some temp gauges are broken or need updates... push to turn on the shower, but there's no nozzle to turn off, some of them stay on for what can feel like is too long. cold tub is cold. hot tub is a good temp. jacuzzi bubbles is finnicky to operate. locker room is right sized, dressing area is too. small seats in both locker area and dressing area. There is no sleeping room (i really needed to take a nap after an early morning red-eye flight). No coed rooms like salt room, ice room, clay room, or jade rooms. So overall, expensive for what it is, 3 hours max is far too long for no amenity extra rooms, and the wet area is standard.

Yelp
3 stars because the massage wasn't bad. Was a bit unsettling as soon as I spoke to the front desk. Only went for the oil massage ($90) that was verbally confirmed right before charging me $100 anyways. Was then told it was an accident and that I could get the refund or leave it for the tip (which I felt like was probably done on purpose to give them an automatic tip). I usually tip service providers so there was no need for that. Atmosphere of the place just did not feel relaxing but the layout of it was ok. Spacious enough for all the nakey people around. I personally walked around in a robe but my massage therapist was pressuring me too much "not to be so shy," which made me uncomfortable. Tried to ask for more tip in the end and asked me when I'd be coming back again. Also kept talking to me during the massage ‍ Overall just not it for me

Elizabeth R.

Yelp
Have been coming here for scrub & massage for more than a decade. New owners have upgraded some aspects but their new reservation system (via text) has lead to reservation problems each time we have come in the last 6 months. Reservation gets lost, or one of our group must start at a different time than others in spite of previous confirmations. So just double check your reservation on the phone the day before to avoid starting your great service with a snafu.

Yelp
Don't worry about getting naked in front of women you don't know. Don't worry about getting tossed onto a plastic covered massage table and being thrown hot water at all over your naked body by an elderly Korean woman and starts scrubbing every inch of your naked body. Yes, there and there too! I think I spent half the time wondering what's she's thinking of my body, my skin, etc, the normal anxious thoughts that occur when a total stranger is doing things to it that you normally reserve in private. As the lady is scrubbing away, she wants me to see the dead skin that she's taking away and I am AMAZED and APALLED at how much dead skin I had sitting on my skin! I gotta say, I love the hot water being thrown at my naked body and it was my favorite part of the experience! I didn't have an appointment but they took me in for a simple body scrub. It was the best $80 I spent! My skin felt so damn smooth! I'm a fan!

Such amazing scrub treatment and the bathhouse is well equipped. Would love to be back for another treatment.

Yelp
I came back for the hot milk scrub and massage. I always feel like a million dollars afterward, and I'm really glad I did it. It's my third time and it's always been a good experience. :-)

Yelp
I am wondering if this place has changed management lately. I have come here over the years and always enjoyed supporting this nostalgic place. The Good is that the people doing the Scrubs and Massages work very hard. The Bad is that this Spa has raised the rates and taken away a lot of the services, and amenities that put them a notch above the rest. They also cut down how long they do the Scrubs, etc. The front Manager is rude and definitely does not have Customer Service training. On My Visit, she overcharged me what I had been quoted in writing and then tried to upcharge me on the way out despite already having paid!!!(I think it is a ploy to get even more tips) The tables where you put your nose down for a scrub smell like Mold and Mildew. The towels are raggedy and if you need an extra one it is $3! The Himalyan Clay room was freezing aand had no herbs or heat. The steam room was moldy and without the usual Eucalyptuss. The Most Egregious part of this experience and the primary reason for this review, was how my Massage was handles. I was tol I could add on a Hot-Stone Massage. They brought a burning hot Plate and set it a few inches from my head. They put scorching hot, scalding stones on my back before checking the temperature and without even using a towel as a barrier to testing them out. I jumped up in pain and even the massage person was feeling the scorch in her hands and I felt badly for them as they seemed in pain as well. I even had another person come in to check my back. Clearly no training is happening for how to use the Hot Stone Safely. Paying half a day's pay for them not to even lower the price warrants this review. This is definitely a Safety Hazard. What was supposed to be relaxing was actually very stressful and I still feel the effects on my back. They also up-charged for Lavender Oil for example but they didn' t really use it. Bait and Switch all over the place. Perhaps if the the massage therapist had not been preoccupied with answering her cell phone during the massage, she would have been more careful with the Hot Stones. When I asked the front Manager if I could have the Owner's contacxt to try to resolve this proactively, she declined and said he was in South Korea and only sshe can contact him. This indicates to me there is no oversightor anyone keeping this Manager in check or ensuring safe practices, training or cleanliness, and most of all noone to ensure good Customer Service. I do hope Management will contact me as I would rather have given feedback directly to him in private. Really has the Health Department checked these dangerous Practices with the Hot Stones out? The Moldy Smell? and Can they confirm the scrubbers are new for each person?

Yelp
Hi all! 31, gay, male here. Went to the spa today, because I had a long work week and needed to relax. I knew that the alternate spa that gays usually go to is known for a place you can actively have sexual activity. I wasn't looking for that today. Imperial is the perfect solution besides a few flaws which are caused by the tight footprint. There is only one, albeit large hot tub, one small cold plunge, and two saunas. The saunas were the biggest disappointment. They just aren't big enough to host the clientele. I was unable to utilize the wet sauna at all because there was no room unless I climbed on a lap. Overall it is a good experience. There is allegedly a quiet rule, if so I didn't adhere I love the ability to socialize naked with other guys. I always say the Korean spas are the museums of the gay world, look, appreciate but don't touch. In that regard this place is perfect, based on personal opinion the clientele was split 70:30 in favor of gay, but there was nothing inappropriate, just appreciative looks. The main spa room was very spacious and well lit with natural light. I wish they would bring in some eucalyptus, lavender, and spider plants, that added natural element would help cut down on the heavy(but necessary) use of chlorine. For 40 dollars for three hours, I recommend!

Yelp
I grew up in a place that I got "scrubbed" each week (often time scrubbed to death). I have been looking for options for a very long time. Tried this place in May/22. These are my thoughts: - Location is pretty decent. But it is right next to a popular bakery shop (don't know what it was but there was a VERY long line in the early morning of a weekend.... So it has to be so good to wake up a whole bunch of people who are still hang overed....). Pros is that if you desire a hit of good pastry, it is literally right next door. Con is that it will take you some time and courage to park on the side of the street somewhere around in SF. It is not far from Japan Town. Plenty of shopping/browsing/eating before or after your treatments. - Scrub is pretty solid. I actually did enjoy the scrubbing and thought it to be very authentic. Super smooth skin and I had to have a nap when I got home (forget about shopping/eating etc) - The facility is, to be honest, dated and small. It is clean but dated. I got here first thing on a weekend morning. After my scrubbing session, it was packed. - The hair/skin products are moderate. So, nothing like Aveda stuff the other options do provide. This place overall reminds me of a homey neighborhood bath house back in the day. For the price, I would prefer a fancier option, which I did find. I think the killer for me is really the location of right in SF. I prefer to have a bathing/scrubbing session at night, heading home and hitting the bed right after. But coming here at night right now in SF, alone, parked at night, is slightly unsafe for a single person. I might come back for another visit when SF is more in shape. But this is, to me, a solid neighborhood bath house. Hitting pretty close to home.

Yelp
Their customer service can use some improvement...because when you're trying to treat yourself to a relaxing spa but setting up appointment is anything but relaxing? Hard pass. I had set up an appointment on their website, and one would think that their calendar was accurate and up to date? Apparently not, because they texted me later saying the day/time I picked isn't available. They also said they could do 12 but I had to call this other number to reschedule. When I did, nobody picked up. Slightly annoyed already because why tell me to call this other number if they're not available? So I texted back 1st number saying lets do 12, then they say its no longer available....so after going back and forth about ok lets just cancel because you have nothing available during times I wanted. They had audacity to say they could do 11:30 now! Their scheduling system is wack and not a great user experience. I've learned my lesson earlier this year that if your first interaction with a business is bad, its only going to get worse in person. Should've read all the 1 star reviews before scheduling here. The people running this establishment is clearly just out for your money rather than acting like a professional spa.

Yelp
Visited this spot after a while, and honestly, it's a neat little place if you're not expecting the frills of those high-end spas. Got a scrub which was quite refreshing, and the prices? Definitely a steal for the Bay Area. Sure, it's not as plush as some other places I've been around LA, with their fancy saunas and food services, but for a quick, no-fuss scrub, this place does the trick. A solid choice for anyone in the city wanting a bit of pampering without breaking the bank.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and was pretty apprehensive to return since the place is under new management and a few of the most recent reviews haven't been very good. However, I really love the masseuses here. After trying a few other places and then not being as good I took a chance and came back. They have the same masseuses as before, plus a few new ones. The service is just as good as ever. The rest of the place is pretty much same old same old. I will come back regularly again. One criticism and reason for four stars not five is the time limit on being in the spa after a service. I've spent a lot of money on a 90 minute massage, I would like a longer time to relax in the spa. Worrying about the time limit really cuts into my ability to relax fully. A more reasonable time limit for after a service would be four hours. A note to the new owner: San Francisco or the immediate environs really need a 24 hour Korean spa with a restaurant like Wii spa in LA or king spa in New Jersey, maybe one day you'll open something like this! Bay Spa in Santa Clara is similar to these places, but too far for me to go regularly.

Yelp
I've been getting scrubbed here for decades. It's a clean well run spa with separate women & men's sides. Women's side has steam room, dry sauna, hot tub w/good jets and a cold plunge. There's even a couple of parking spots. See you there!

Yelp
This was my first time at a spa like this. I was completely taken by surprised at how lovely it was and how relaxing it was. I opted to get the body scrub and seaweed wrap worn the 24k face mask. I recommend everyone get this combination. I would definitely come back.

Yelp
I had a great massage therapy and received at the end an envelope with text: " for tips" One guy was standing behind me at 9:05PM when I was completely naked and taking shower. He was like: " We closed, you have to leave". I was very upset because he was kicking me out when i was all In foam and shampooed. I was already leaving. I was late for 5 fucking minutes. I was like who are you? Leave me alone and let me finish and I leave. He keeps repeating: " We closed, you have to leave" and added "I'm owning this place, fucking leave" On front desk two Asian ladies was screaming I was late and I should leave. One of front desk lady start asking envelope with tip. I said: " are you kidding me? You are still expecting tip after you kick me out" "I will not give a tip" They start screaming more and almost pushed me out from spa. They called me for some reason "mongolian". What? Later they start showing middle finger. I left this place at 9:12. Such a idiots run this place. They could wait 10 minutes. By the way if search on map it's says they are closing at 10pm. They are fuck up all my evening. I regret I brought my friend there so he witnessed and experienced negativity . They don't care about customers at it all.

Yelp
Half the showers don't work. Can't adjust water temperature. ZERO products for hair, skin, ANYTHING in the vanity area. Here's the kicker: NO SOAP in the vanity and in the bathroom. I repeat: NO SOAP in the bathroom. At a spa!

Yelp
I have been going here for years and used to loved this place. My last appointment on April 17th was a way different experience than prior visits and I wondered if the management changed. I looked at Yelp reviews and sure enough I see there was a management change since my last visit. Starting with the receptionist-not welcoming at all. The bathrooms-I was the first customer to enter that day and the toilet seat was dirty, no paper towels available to dry hands, and hair (ew) stuck on the hand soap dispenser. Cleanliness of facility-saw multiple piles of hair in places. Steam room-used to be my favorite but this time smelled like mold... no eucalyptus scent :( My appointment time was for 1010am so I arrived at 9am to enjoy the spa facilities. At 945am while I was in the hot tub, I was told they were ready for me. After much back and forth about my appointment time we decided on 10am. On to the actual scrub and massage-the scrub was probably the best I've had but the massage portion was just ok. Again, there was the smell of mold when I was "face down". I noticed the soap they used to use is gone (Irish Spring!) Afterwards, I noticed the Barbasol to sterilize combs is no longer available, along with empty tissue boxes, a general lack of maintenance/care in the space. It's too bad this once great place is no longer great. It could be if it was cleaner and the nice little touches brought back!

Yelp
My first Korean Spa experience and I loved every minute. My friends have been raving about this place for a while and it finally worked out that I could schedule to go. I'll definitely be back often. I loved all of the saunas, spas, cold plunge pool, the Himalayan Salt room and of course the exfoliating scrub and massage! DO NOT DELAY THIS EXPERIENCE- GO! Very clean and very busy but it's a big place.

Yelp
Great value for all the services with ocean breeze purification. You will pay first when you check in. If you pay with cash, you can get a complimentary face mask. Arrive at least half an hour before your appointment time so you can change, shower and soak before your appointment. They will call your locker number in the soaking area when it's time for your appointment. The whole session happened upstairs on one station. Bring cash to tip at the end of the session.

Yelp
This is the most amazing experience. I have had a lot of messages but this surpassed my expectations. Just know you will be naked and you will need to be comfortable with that. As long as you are you will have the best massage of your life. It was definitely mine. I got the exfoliating massage. Not sure the exact name. It allows new skin to come through. Love how I am glowing and it was sooo relaxing. Exactly what I needed.

Yelp
A great inner city sanctuary when you don't have the time or $$& to go full on "high street" spa

Yelp
I had such a relaxing time here! General admission is $40 for three hours and you get access to a Himalayan salt room, lockers, showers, hot tub, cold pool, sauna, and steam room. My favorite was the steam room - it was so hot I couldn't see in front of me. The sauna and hot tub were warm but not super hot. The showers are clean and have handheld shower heads, a seat, and buckets, with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash on the wall for usage. They have water in the locker room and brushes, hair dryer, round brush, q tips, and toothpaste.

Yelp
How is this place still in business?! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else if possible if you do NOT want to experience drama. Note: Their prices are comparable with other spas within the area. The 3 items identified during my visit are: 1) Rude Staff 2) Dishonest Services 3) Extremely Tip Aggressive Rude Experience outlined in various paragraphs: My girlfriends and I met for a long overdue spa day. Right from the beginning, I should have known that something did not feel right! I called to ask what was included as I would not bring these items if available. e.g., towels, lotion, and the woman who answered the phoned yelled "EVERYTHING" and hung up the phone... As a customer, excuse me for inconveniencing you while you are at work! Services and Facility: I paid for a 30-minute scrub and received a 20-minute treatment. My treatment person was Annie and I did not feel relaxed at all. Annie made me feel like the treatment was a chop-chop GET IT DONE deal. I must have been directed to turn over 8+ times without any technique which could be accomplished without turning over. Then I was asked to stand up so that I can throw water at you for a rinse. Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting a Burke Williams or Napa type of experience.. but was hoping to at least feel relaxed as I did at other comparable spas! I must admit that my skin does feel softer.. so I'm still glad that I got the treatment done. My friend, who came 10 minutes before her treatment time was informed by the receptionist that she could only receive 1/2 of her reserved treatment for the full price because she was late (WTH). She unwillingly agreed as she did not want to ruin our day as a group. This is an outrageous ask from a business to ask a customer to pay for services not rendered. My assumption is that the business took advantage of the overall situation as they were overbooked. I was a bit grossed out by using the spa area as customers were not advised to shower (no direction at the front desk) before utilizing the facilities. The dress-up area had minimal amenities: Q-Tips, Lotion, tissue, 2 hair dryers, toothpaste, and no clean hair brushes available. It really didn't have EVERYTHING as advised during the call..e.g., hair ties, toner, sunscreen, cotton balls, or toothbrushes mentioned by other customers. Tipping: After I received my 20- minute treatment while still naked, an envelope was shoved several times at my face by Annie. I planned on providing a 20% tip as this is customary which resulted in a 15% tip due to my entire experience. A couple of my friends who did not receive any services other than utilizing the facilities were asked to tip. An older Asian lady (who I believe was the owner) ran after them for not tipping while gesturing a middle finger. The spa is operated with a lack of crass, lack of professionalism, and lack of delivery of services. This is the first and last time I will ever visit this spa! We will be trying the other Korean spa nearby on Post Street.
