Buffet restaurant for imperial hotel! Very crowded! Difficult to get seatings, food are good and respectful but not the best selection or varieties! They do not even have their famous curry for breakfast! Deeply disappointed! Not recommended if you need to pay and not included in your room booking.

We enjoyed a buffet lunch at this historic hotel where the Viking Buffet in Japan started in 1958. We found the food variety to be less than what we've experienced in other international buffet restaurants, but the quality and taste of the food were excellent. The service was exceptional, with everyone greeting us with smiles from arrival until we left. The restaurant is on the 17th floor of the Imperial Hotel Tokyo, Japan. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant and trying its Viking buffet to experience a classic dining style in an elevated setting with a view of the surroundings.

The variety of food is very limited, while the choices of ingredients and quality of food is also very ordinary, considering it cost 17000 yen per person. The famous main dishes, roast beef, is not as good as I would expect regarding how many people are recommending it in the reviews, it is dry, tough and tasteless, so I am very disappointed, to be honest, Sunday roast from any street pub in the UK is better than that. And about services, it’s very average service, not good enough to justify for the poor performance of the food. So in general, I feel it’s a waste of money, I have actually predicted that even before I had the meal, but still I decided to go since I thought I would regret if I don’t try it, while it’s my last night in Tokyo and so many people recommended this restaurant, eventually I am both disappointed and a dinner wasted.

Not the typical buffet, it doesn't aim to make a mountain of mediocre food, it aims to make a selection brilliantly. Many of these dishes are better than most restaurants. The savoury is delicious but save some space for dessert as the selection is magical. The restaurant is grand and beautifully furnished, and the service was impeccable.

As buffet goes, this is a very nice place. A ton of selections, seriously. There's Japanese, Chinese, French, and other western style dishes. I was seriously jet lagged (not slept for about 24 hrs) so didn't have much appetite, but things still tasted good. Certainly shouldn't compare to specialty places, but for folks from US, the fresh tempura can still put many trendy places at home to shame 😀 The place is spacious, and staff is very helpful (despite some language challenges), overall great experience. Not a cheap place for sure, but hey, you've got stewed abalone on the menu

It was very fun experiencing the first ever buffet in japan here. The food offerings are not super many but all are good. The service impeccable and the atmosphere is retro luxury. If you're a westerner this is not very exotic and may seem a bit too expensive. I liked it because of the historical and food cultural impact this had. Was like experiencing a piece of history!

We had the lunch buffet on a weekday in May 2023. Staff, service very good (like everywhere in Japan, no matter if it's a 5* or 1* place), however I think the food is for Asians/people who want to try fancy Western food. I thought they would have Japanese/Asian dishes (as well) but I guess I didn't do a proper research before booking this lunch buffet.. Anyway, the food tasted like the food in Europe, the hightlight of the lunch was the dessert table :)

The concept that hotel buffets are not good will change once you visit here. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
Night buffets are not a thing in the US. Apparently they are a thing in Japan. And this has to be one of the most badass night buffets. If it's not, then someone please tell me, because it was pretty amazing. Also pretty expensive.

Yelp
Located on the 17th floor at the Imperial Hotel. We ate here over 3 days during our stay here on our guided tour. The dining room can accommodate many people; however we were here during Cherry Blossom season and Japan's school spring break. The only time we had to wait for a table was on a Sunday right before the school holiday break was ending. Hardly working staff. Plenty of food and nothing ever ran out. Shout outs: * the tiny flat circular French toast. Very custardy. * the baked egg French onion soup - in a small ramekin. * the twice cooked bacon. * the Japanese breakfast items * the vinegar mango juice. * the mini chocolate croissant. The standard price for the breakfast buffet is 4300 yens. That's about $40 USD.

Yelp
First off, if you're looking at this review you just might be in the same spot I was -- looking up hotel buffet reviews in Tokyo. Let me help you with a realistic comparison to other buffets. This place is over hyped! I went for lunch and nothing was especially good except for the fact they had a decent beef Wellington (which they serve you a sliver each time you go up), and a few good dessert cakes and tarts (unusual for a buffet) Is the buffet worth 60000 yen? Hardly! Go elsewhere in Tokyo!! Do not waste any of your daily calorie allotment here. Oh, not to mention to be warned there may be a lengthy wait for a seat! I was told to wait for a hour, but fortunately got seated right away. Value is so drastically skewed, added with the potential wait leads this to be a 2 Star review. Booya!

Yelp
After visiting the best buffet in the world and coming here I wasn't as impressed. I'm saying this because I payed the exact same amount at that buffet in Singapore and the quality and options here was no where near what I payed for there. I wasn't impressed with the food. Also as a vegetarian I had to double check which foods did not contain meat because it wasn't listed. Also I was expecting more traditional food (dumplings, sushi, ramen, etc) As a tourist staying at a hotel that is what I expect to try. The staff were great and the service was good. They were very respectful, I was left impressed.

Yelp
Just an amazing spread of foods from all over. It will satisfy any pallet. I took a group of American students here. They all found something to eat and seemed very content. An old favorite is the Japanese curry rice. Prime rib was super. Finished with gelato. Told you everyone was happy.

Yelp
Dinner with group at the first buffet establishment in Japan - started by the chef of the hotel 50 years ago the tradition of the European Smorgasbord continues in Japan. Salads and appetizers were fresh and tender and there was also an array of cold cuts, pate's and also smoked salmon, duck etc.... Quite a selection. Small individualized tidbits served in a little copper pot such as the escargot in a light cream sauce were delicious as were the sides of vegetables, pasta etc. Entrees varied from pasta, lasagna and several other dishes. The meat was a large slab of roast beef and although I got a piece that was a little more cooked than I like, it was delicious and tender. Overall a great experience. I liked the view and the entire ambiance as well as the usual excellent service that comes standard in most places in Japan.

Yelp
A buffet with a well earned reputation amongst the locals, at the 17th floor in the Imperial hotel, a traditional Japanese hotel. We stayed at the imperial for 5 nights and everyday when we try to get to the buffet for lunch they would be completely booked. On the Last night we approached guest relations and expressed our wish to have lunch at their buffet and requested that he assists us in getting a table. Next morning we get a call that our table for 7 will be ready at 11:30!!! We get there and we got greeted at the door and the captain told us that they are expecting us and that our table is ready. We got the best table in the house with 5 star service. The buffet consisted of some traditional Japanese dishes and European. A good balanced combination and variety. The dessert is another story and a must try.
