I stayed at Impiana Hotel KL from 30 January to 1 February with my family and my mother-in-law who uses a wheelchair. We booked two rooms on Level 8. Our trip was primarily to attend the 3-day DRT Show at the KL Convention Centre while also spending family time dining around the KLCC area. The hotel location is undeniably excellent.
Overall, the hotel has good potential. The breakfast was enjoyable and the chef was attentive. After I informed him about my food allergy, he immediately suggested suitable options. The food quality was good and the hotel cleanliness met expectations.
However, several serious service failures significantly affected our stay.
First, the housekeeping service was unacceptable. Requesting additional drinking water became unnecessarily difficult. The staff refused to provide more than two very small bottles. The front office said refills were allowed, yet housekeeping repeatedly resisted simple requests. Drinking water is a basic necessity, not a luxury item. Making guests struggle over something this minor reflects poor service culture.
Second, the swimming pool management was extremely disappointing. I cancelled my swim after seeing multiple guests entering the pool wearing casual street clothing. Pool and recreation staff should enforce proper swimwear rules. Casual clothing materials can damage filtration systems and raise hygiene concerns. The lack of enforcement shows negligence and poor supervision. I brought swimwear but completely lost confidence in using the facility.
The most serious issue was accessibility and parking for wheelchair users. Designated disabled parking bays were occupied by able-bodied guests, and no enforcement action was visible. As a result, we were forced to park in a narrow area on Level 4A, which was extremely challenging for wheelchair access. This is not a minor inconvenience — it is a fundamental accessibility failure and reflects poorly on the hotel’s commitment to disabled guests.
In conclusion, while the hotel has strengths in location, food quality, and cleanliness, the failures in housekeeping service, pool supervision, and accessibility management are too significant to ignore. Because of these issues, I cannot justify a 5-star rating. This stay deserves no more than 2 stars.
