Imu Mea Ai LLC

We had the opportunity to participate in building and preparing an imu with our school staff, as a team building activity. The purpose was to have a better understanding of the Hawaiian culture, rituals and sense of 'Ohana. And afterwards enjoyed an "ono" delicious meal, prepared by the Men of Pa'a. I highly recommend this to everyone, it was a great experience.

Had the privilege of coming here with the Mountain View Staff ‘Ohana for a huakaʻi. The Men of Paʻa take pride in continuing to teach and preserve our Hawaiian cultural practices through Imu building/prepping. Part of the experience is to mea ‘ai together. This is a really good experience for anyone living in and visiting Hawai’i Island. I’m grateful for the experience and Aloha shared.

If you’re looking to immerse yourself in Hawaiian culture, this is awesome! You could do a cheesy expensive Luau, or you could build your own Imu with others, learn about the culture and give back to the land! The gentlemen who run this org, are kind, fun and knowledgeable of Hawaiian culture. Highly recommend!

Truly a must do experience on the big island for anyone not native to Hawai’i visiting. Participation directly in the continuation of the culture and supporting an organization that is doing the work in the community. The gardens in the location are amazing and provide the food you eat! The lead teacher is knowledgeable, funny, and fosters a reverent armosphere while still keeping things loose and fun. All of the crew members were helpful, friendly and made sure to get everyone involved. Cannot recommend enough. Enrich yourself and support Hawaiians doing community work to support other Hawaiians and further their cultural practices.

I spent the entire day with Men of Pa'a alongside a college class. We made an imu and helped prepare food for dinner. Each person on the crew was so nice and funny! I laughed a lot and learned a lot from all of them. If I ever come back to Hawaii I will definitely be coming back to spend a day with Men of Pa'a!

A truly life-changing experience! Working on building the imu, preparing food, and working on building community with our group while educating us on the spirituality and principles of true Hawaiian life was a wonderful time for all.
